Alaska Portage Glacier Cruise and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center Tour.......Anchorage Alaska
Visit Anchorage's most popular attractions: Turnagain Arm, Potter Marsh, Beluga Point, Portage Glacier and The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
Our guided half-day adventure along scenic Turnagain Arm offers a one hour spectacular glacier cruise and non-stop wildlife. See Potter Marsh and mountain scenery where Dahl sheep are often spotted on the rocky cliffs. The waters along the way offers the best chance of seeing some of Cook Inlet's 350 Beluga whales.
Visit Portage Glacier-Alaska's second most visited attraction. Board a one-hour cruise, which is narrated by a U.S. Forest Service Park Ranger. View icebergs and get 300 feet from the glacier, where you can listen for the unmistakable rumbling of an active calving glacier.
At the 140-acre Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center get an up-close experience of impressive bears, moose, bison, elk, reindeer, musk ox, and more...
This is a picturesque holiday of a lifetime!

Visiting Animals in Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Zoo in Alaska, United States
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a conservation center dedicated to preserving Alaska's wildlife. The center is located on 170 acres (69 ha) at the southern edge of Turnagain Arm and the entrance to Portage Valley in the Municipality of Anchorage.
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a refuge for orphaned or injured wildlife, as well as home or temporary home to captive born and translocated wildlife such as wood bison. The center has reintroduced elk back into Alaska[citation needed], and is currently involved in a program for the reintroduction of the wood bison.

Alaska 2018 - 30 [visiting Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center]
After we left Girdwood, we made a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center as we made our way into the Kenai Peninsula.
Originally, we were just going to wait in the parking lot at the center. It seems a little zoo-like for us. But you had to pay to even get to the parking lot so we ended up going in.
It actually wasn’t too bad. Most animals are only there because they can’t be released back into the wild. You will see the animals’ stories by their enclosures. And they also are working to reintroduce wood bison to Alaska. They’ve already released a herd that’s doing well.

Located an hour south of Anchorage, Alaska, is the small town of Girdwood, home of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This nonprofit organization has a mission of caring for orphaned and injured animals and educating the public on Alaskan wildlife. Animals treated at the center may include wood bison, musk ox, caribou/reindeer, eagle or black bear. Moose calves may be bottle fed for a few months after being separated from their mothers. Join adventure reporter Dan Monskey as he bottle feeds the baby moose and has to satisfy the hunger of a pair of grizzly bears. First, he'll need to learn what appeals to the bears appetite. Learn more about the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center at alaskawildlife.org.
