Connecticut
Connecticut (/kəˈnɛtɨkət/, kuh-NET-i-kət) is the southernmost state in the northeastern region of the United States known as New England. It is bordered by Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, New York to the west, and Long Island Sound to the south. Its capital city is Hartford. The state is named after the Connecticut River, a major U.S. river that approximately bisects the state. The word is derived from various anglicized spellings of an Algonquian word for long tidal river.
Connecticut is the third smallest state by area, the 29th most populous, and the fourth most densely populated of the 50 United States. Called the Constitution State, Nutmeg State, and The Land of Steady Habits, it was influential in the development of the federal government of the United States. Much of southern and western Connecticut (along with the majority of the state's population) is part of the New York metropolitan area: three of Connecticut's eight counties are statistically included in the New York City combined statistical area, which is widely referred to as the Tri-State area. Connecticut's center of population is in Cheshire, New Haven County, which is also located within the Tri-State area.

NHFD Engine 4 and Truck 1 respond to a still alarm
We are in front of head quarters of the New Haven Fire Department at 952 Grand Avenue, where we see Engine 4 and Truck 1 as they respond to a still alarm at 360 State Street. The call ended up being food on the stove, and both companies returned to quarters soon after. Engine 4 is a 2013 Pierce Arrow XT. Truck 1 is a 2013 Sutphen with a 102 foot mid-mount aerial. Enjoy the response from both rigs. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome.

Joseph R. Russo, Jr.
Joseph R. Russo, Jr. loving husband and best friend of Patricia Dunham Russo left this earth May 1, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Windsor, CT July 12, 1938, the son of the late Joseph R. and Margaret (Testa) Russo, Sr. As a child Joe survived the Great Hartford Circus fire by following an elephant out of the tent. After graduating from Windsor High School, Joe served in the Army Infantry stationed in Germany receiving the Award of Good Conduct Medal. Joe was a member of the Elks for 36 years. Joe moved to South Windsor where he served as Vice President of the Avery Heights Water Association, was a Town Constable and a member of the Democratic Town Committee. Joe began his engineering career at Connecticut Light and Power as a surveyor, draftsman for Hartford Electric Light Company and ultimately was a designer and supervisor in the engineering, transmission design department of Northeast Utilities where he retired December 31, 1993. Joe's true passion was helping people starting as a boy scout in Troop 26 in Windsor and becoming Scout Master before moving to South Windsor, becoming leader of Troop 186. He held fond memories of canoeing trips in Maine, camping trip at Lake of Isles and taking his troop to Philmont, New Mexico. He was proud to have attained Eagle, Order of the Arrow, Ad Altare Dei and Silver Beaver Awards. His passion for helping continued when he became a blood donor and one of the first pharesis donors for the American Red Cross. This inspired him to become a first aid and C.P.R. instructor for the Red Cross which led him to emergency medicine and a side career as an EMT and Emergency Medical Services Instructor in the Town of South Windsor. Joe was instrumental in starting the South Windsor (Volunteer) Ambulance Corp (SWAC) and served as President and Chief of Service from 1981 until his retirement in 1995. He was proud to have been part for bringing the corp from basic to advanced level in D-Fib and EPI. Never to one to say no Joe assisted the Town by teaching CPR and First aid classes to the Town employees, life guards and provided medical coverage at the local football games, Wapping Fair, Strawberry Fest and any other event with which he was asked to help. Upon his retirement in 1995 he received a Proclamation of Volunteer Service from the Town. In addition to working full time at NU and volunteering at SWAC, Joe found time to volunteer at the Kuehn Training Center teaching basic first aid to its residence, provided first aid coverage for the Connecticut Special Winter Olympics and taught first aid at babysitting courses sponsored by the South Windsor Women's Club. Joe received numerous awards for his volunteerism during his life including the First Federal Savings Eagle Award for Outstanding Volunteer Work, Northeast Utilities certificate of Appreciation for Valuable Contribution to our Community as a Volunteer, Volunteer of the Year and a Community Service Award. He was a Loan Executive for the United Way and Received the President's Award for Exemplary Service from the East Windsor Sportsman's club. Even after his retirement and moving to Arizona he continued to teach first aid and CPR for the Red Cross. Since he was not one to sit still he began working at Home Depot part time in the electrical department and was the electrical expert for the Home Depot Pro Team. After moving back to Connecticut in 2003, Joe went back to work at Northeast Utilities as a contractor until his health would not allow it. Besides his wife of 20 years, he leaves his son, Jeffrey Russo of Vernon, his brother Robert F. Russo, Sr. of Arizona, his father and mother --in-law Arthur and Leona Dunham of Manchester, brothers-in-law Phillip (Alison) Dunham of Tolland, Keith (Chelle) Dunham of Washington State and Ken (Barb) Raymo of South Windsor, a sister-in-law, Sandra Dunham Hart of Bristol, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, very special friends Steve and Betty Wisneski of South Windsor and his adopted girls Karen Lai and her daughters Kimberly and Caitlin Law of New Jersey. He also leaves his beloved pets Dallas, Logan, Abby and Sammy. Joe was predeceased by his first wife Winifred and his brother, Louis Russo.
