STORYLINE
US billionaire Sheldon Adelson's Macau casino company on Wednesday launched its long-delayed fourth resort, a 4.4 billion (b) US dollar complex that is its latest bet on continued strong growth in the world's biggest gambling market.
Executives from the company, Sands China Limited, opened the doors to Sands Cotai Central following a traditional Chinese dragon dance and the unveiling of a 2,500 kilogram (5,500 pound) bronze and gold God of Fortune statue.
Completion was delayed several years by the global financial crisis and worker shortages.
People started queuing to get in about five hours before the grand opening, security guards said, and the queue snaked around the side of the building by the time the doors opened.
Among them was a tourist from China's Guangdong province.
How much do I plan to spend? What should I say? I am not sure myself. Approximately? Tens of thousands, she said, referring to Renminbi, the equivalent of thousands of US dollars.
The resort will open in stages. The first phase has 340 gaming tables and 40 VIP rooms for important clients.
Another 200 tables will be added later this year.
It's the 35th casino to open in Macau, the only place in China where casino gambling is legal.
Macau's gambling revenues rose 27 percent in the first three months of 2012, after rocketing 42 percent last year to 33.5
billion (b) US dollars, more than five times the amount earned by Las Vegas Strip casinos.
Growth has been powered by hordes of wealthy gamblers from mainland China, who are estimated to account for more than two-thirds of total gambling revenue.

Dragon Dance Parades in Macao to Celebrate New Year
A gorgeous dragon dance performance took place in China's Macao Special Administrative Region on Saturday, the first day of the Chinese lunar year of 2017.
A 238-meter long golden dragon along with 18 lions snaked and pranced around the Ruins of St. Paul’s before parading through the main streets to Sai Van Lake Square.
The festive parade amazed thousands of visitors who walked along with the dragon and lions, praying for good fortune and prosperity in the Year of Rooster.
Staff members dressed as the God of Wealth and various new year mascots also appeared during the event passing out lai see, or red envelopes, to visitors.

Macau the HOTTEST Spot for Sneakers! - I never thought this would be possible
Of all places I've been to, Macau was the only place to have HYPE Adidas Sneakers for RETAIL. I seriously never thought this would happen. Despite that they do have Yeezys for resale price, they still do have a pretty darn good selection of shoes that are hype, limited, and going for MSRP. and that is pretty incredible. But besides the sneakers, Macau, as a city is known has the Las Vegas of China. I've been to Las Vegas before, but I think the themed casinos in Macau are jaw dropping. Certainly Las Vegas is pretty popping, but Macau is definitely worth the visit as well.

Cambodia's Casino Boom Town, Created By Chinese Money | The New Silk Road | CNA Insider
Chinese money has transformed the once-sleepy backpacker destination of Sihanoukville, Cambodia into a gambling resort hub with 30 casinos, and 70 more being built. It's touted as the New Macau.
But all that new wealth is eluding many local Cambodian businesses - which are being shunted aside.

About the show:
It was a legendary trading route that for thousands of years connected Europe with Asia, and ancient Rome with Ancient China. Known as the Silk Road, it stretched through some of the most rugged terrain in the world 2000 years ago.
Now modern China is building a new Silk Road. The New Silk Road, also known as the One Belt One Road plan, is a hugely ambitious initiative launched by Presdent Xi Jinping in 2013. It will link up over 65 countries and 4.4 billion people. That is about 60 percent of the world’s population.
Channel NewsAsia’s documentary team has travelled across the globe to 7 regions to investigate what the Silk Road means for individuals, companies and countries. The epic journey will take viewers from the future ports of China to naval bases in the Philippines, to safaris in Africa, wushu schools in Iran and ghettos in Greece.
The program received an Award for Best Documentary (International Affairs) at the New York Festivals.

Traditional Chinese Fortune Telling
The Chinese have been practicing Kau Cim fortune telling for thousands of years, and even in the modern era the custom is still lives on. Kau Cim fortune telling is still common among both older and younger generations throughout China. It's often done before major decisions and especially when trying to select an auspicious date for important events, like weddings. Though many Chinese are convinced they are atheist, they still follow many traditional spiritual practices without being burdened by the apparent contradiction. Concepts such as luck and belief in a God-like or cosmic distributor of fate is still incredibly widespread, and the continued practice of traditional, folk-based elements of faith, deity and ancestor worship are standard fare throughout the culture.

++NEW God of Dragons slot machine, a first look
Hydako is a Korean company that you probably haven't heard of before. At least, I hadn't. I had to look up their website and found that many of the site's links are bad. Further, the game you see in this video is not listed yet. So, in terms of marketing to the U.S. market, they have a little ways to go.
This game is very flashy, employing a couple of large screens. I show only one feature, which seemed to come up randomly. I did not spend that much time on it, and it didn't seem to be that popular (but my observations were limited to just just part of an afternoon).
Perhaps the strangest thing about this game is that the TITO ticket that it printed showed HK $0.41, indicating that it was somehow meant for Hong Kong (which is strange, because Macau uses a different currency called the pataca, and Hong Kong doesn't have slot machines).
This game was found in Cache Creek (as you'll see on the TITO), which is a casino that caters to many Chinese players.
