Los Cristianos Beach | Things To Do in TENERIFE
Tenerife's Los Cristianos beach is just down the road from the well-known clubbing town of Playa de las Americas in Costa Adeje, but you honestly wouldn't know it!
Lined with knick-knack shops, plentiful(!!) in sun loungers and providing lots of sporting activities for the kids (and adults..), it has to be one of the most family-friendly areas in the whole of Tenerife.
But, if family-friendly doesn't quite float your boat, we do have a video about Playa de las Americas here:
And if clubbing isn't your scene either, how about our video about the incredibly impressive Mount Teide volcano in the middle of Tenerife:
Lastly, there are loads of beautiful beaches on Tenerife (it is an island after all) so we compiled a list of our favourite five in this here video:
Enjoy!

We’re talking about Los Cristianos. It’s all about sun, sea, sand and…sun loungers! Yes it is.
It’s really popular, especially with families, because of the golden beaches and really shallow waters and there’s loads to do there, whether you want to get involved in the water sports or if you want to kick a football around or there’s nets up for volleyball.
- Or you can do nothing because there are rows and rows and rows of sun loungers. Just make sure you bring some cash with you because you do have to pay for them.
Actually, the whole harbour itself is really pretty so great if you want to get a few snaps. But if you want to do something else then you can do day cruises actually. Things like fishing trips; you can go to the neighbouring island of La Gomera. Spice things up a bit.
- Yeah, it’s kinda cool. They also have a really nice promenade. It’s right next to the beach; it’s lined with restaurants; they’ve got live music. The whole area in general is actually pretty good for families. - Yeah, it’s actually really well set up for a day where you just want to not think about anything and just enjoy the sunshine. Exactly.
So Los Cristianos is one of our favourite beaches on the island. If you want to know what our top five were, have a look at our Top 5 Beaches…Top 5 Favourite Beaches in Tenerife video…ha! Do that!
Thanks for watching!

Holidays To Tenerife
Tenerife is dramatic, beautiful and full of possibilities, as well as being one of Europe's most exciting islands.
Its friendly resorts are well placed to enjoy year round sunshine. With a great climate offering sunny days whenever you travel, holidays to Tenerife are a sure bet for those seeking a lively, sizzling time amid family-friendly resorts, good value restaurants and dazzling, black sand beaches (although, in some areas, sand has been shipped in from the Sahara to give the coastline a golden touch).
The island's well loved resorts such as Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos, La Pineda, Puerto de la Cruz and La Caleta offer everything from peaceful, laid-back relaxation to full on thrills day and night.
Tenerife offers Europe's widest range of tourist attractions and activities. Sunbathe or swim on the palm-shaded lagoon of Lago de Martiánez and if you get tired of lying on the beach, find some shade in the exotic green oasis of the Jardín Botánico or make waves in Europe's biggest water park -- Siam Park. In any Spanish destination, there's always something festive happening.
Tenerife is no exception, and though many events are designed with an eye towards the tourist trade, these are essentially local celebrations, some with a long history. Visitors are always welcome to join in.

One final sand Castle from the beaches of Tenerife
The last of three videos of sand castles you find at the Island of Tenerife. Walk the boardwalks and enjoy the art of real hand craft because the castsles are built from only sand and Water. All sand from the beaches where they are built.

There are loads of fun things to do in Tenerife and here are five of the most popular, in no particular order…
Beaches, because Tenerife is all about sun, sea and sand.
Now the north of the island is a slightly quieter, calmer…definitely more local area to go if you’re looking for a beach spot that’s just a bit more chilled. We particularly liked Las Teresitas.
Also Los Gigantes, which is slightly further west. It’s got the authentic black volcanic sand and those really cool cliff faces…edges? Huge, 800-metre high cliff faces.
The south of the island is where you’ll find the most popular beaches, where the tourists really tend to hangout. Where you’ll find beaches such as Las Vistas, which is this long golden sandy stretch of beach. Los Cristianos is about 500 metres away, no distance at all, and it’s a really great family beach. And lastly, Playa de las Americas, which is really handy for going from daytime sunbathing to nighttime drinking because it’s right in the centre of that touristy nightlife hub spot.
Good thing you said that Kate. That leads nicely onto our next point…
Playa de las Americas is all about Brits abroad, enjoying the balmy evenings and lively social scene. It’s got everything you could want, from European restaurants with al-fresco dining and slightly aged DJs out on the street, late night shopping for those all-important souvenirs and some classier bars that actually warrant getting the stilettos out.
This may not be the place for soul-searching and culture-cramming, but this definitely is the place to party.
Now the vibe in the early evening is pretty chill and kind of family-oriented but later on, after about midnight to 1am, is when things definitely liven up a bit. Stick around if you dare! Or don’t.
When it’s hot, as it often is in Tenerife, water parks are hard to resist. Now we went to Siam Park, in November would you believe. Now Siam Park is the most popular in the Canaries and, if you believe the reviews, the most popular in all of Europe. There’s a 90-foot high water slide, the Tower of Power, which is the 12th highest in the world. A fast-track way to be reacquainted with your breakfast. Yummy…
Be aware that Siam Park does keep animals such as sharks and seals in captivity. If you fancy keeping away from that then we recommend a sea safari tour, where you can see these beauties in their natural habitat.
Now onto a topic that we don’t really know too much about but thousands of you guys flock to Tenerife every year to do this… Golf.
Tenerife is great for golf, obviously because of the sunshine. A day of golf is never going to get rained off in this island. Not to mention the stunning views. Like at Costa Adeje, where I spent most of my time driving around in a golf buggy and checking out the amazing views of the Adeje mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. What more could you want? A hole in one? That would be lucky.
Lastly, onto Mount Teide. It’s the most iconic feature of the island. Well it’s the tallest for a start, enjoying a lofty 12,198-foot summit. To be precise. It’s not surprising to learn that the aboriginal inhabitants of the island believed that this mountain held up the sky because when you get to the summit, all you can see beneath you is a sea of beautiful white clouds stretched to infinity. But on a slightly more practical level, I wouldn’t worry too much about it being too much of a hike, because the cable car does take you to within 200 metres of the summit but, however high you decide to climb, it is an amazing view.
So that’s our list of the top 5 most popular things to do in Tenerife and we recommend that you try to do at least…all of them. Don’t forget to subscribe! Bye!

Tenerife is one of the best spots in the world for a beach holiday. Because it’s got year-round sunshine! So, here’s a list of our top 5 beaches on the island.
Number 5 - Playa de las Vistas
When you’re imagining your perfect beach holiday, Playa de las Vistas pretty much fits the bill. It’s got the long swathes of golden sand, beautiful blue waters and the last of the sunshine throughout the day, making it a great spot for an evening stroll.
And this is me doing my best impression of a ‘Wish You Were Here’ piece. Documentary? What’s the word I’m looking for? Piece, yeah. Piece? Yeah, piece is fine. Okay…piece to camera. Check it out…
Next along this sunny southern coastline is Las Vistas beach, where you maybe enjoy a bit of football, have a stroll all along the promenade or head to the marina at the very end, or just sit here; top up your holiday tan and enjoy the stunning surroundings.
Number 4 - Playa de las Americas
If you came to Tenerife for a drink and a bit of a boogey, Playa de las Americas is probably the spot for you. Think neon lights, flashing signs, two drinks for a euro, tacky keychains, but bars that lead out onto the beach. This is probably the best place you’ll go? Ever in your whole life!!
So there are loads of cocktail bars that lead straight out on to the beach, meaning this is the best place to blend your day into night time.
At number 3, Los Cristianos
Stop trying to steal this! Screw a lightbulb and pay a dog, or something…
Los Cristianos is great for the family. It’s a protected bay with shallow, calm waters, meaning that it’s pretty safe for the kids. Erm, or anyone that can’t swim very well.
When we went, there was even a pirate ship and people playing volleyball and it was just a really nice beach.
Our number 2 is Los Gigantes
So this is a pretty small beach but it’s surrounded by pretty big cliff faces. In fact, they’re even as high as 800 metres. That’s right isn’t it? 500 to 800, I’m pretty sure it is. Yeah, but, are you Googling it? 800 metres!
It definitely feels a little bit more authentic than some of the other beaches because it has that natural black volcanic sand and to be honest, it’s one of my very favourite spots on the island.
Numero Uno…Playa de las Teresitas
Teresitas is our favourite, because it’s simply beautiful. It’s surrounded by gorgeous mountains, sandy beaches and palm trees, quaint little fishing boats. It’s just gorgeous.
And even though it’s in the north of the island, it’s really not that far from somewhere like Playa de las Americas.
In fact, if you hire a car, it’s about an hour and a half’s drive so we implore you to do that! Because that side of the island is so much more beautiful. It’s where all the rain is, it means that everything is tropical and lush and there’s vegetation everywhere. So get up there, check out this beautiful beach and if you have time, get yourself up into the mountains as well.
So those were our top 5 beaches in Tenerife and here’s a quick round-up.
Number 5 - Playa de las Vistas
Number 4 - Playa de las Americas
Number 3 - Los Cristianos.
I’m only doing this because she can’t remember them.
Number 2 - Los Gigantes
And number 1, our favourite beach, Playa de las Teresitas. The one you need to go to.
But not all at once…because it’s quiet. That’s a good point.

Get out and explore Tenerife, Spain, a volcanic island boasting year-round sunshine and picturesque beaches. Where is Tenerife? It’s a coastal oasis, located on the largest Canary Island, just off the coast of North Africa.
Soak up the sun at Las Americas Beach, one of the most popular spots along the shore, where you’ll find watersports ranging from parasailing to surfing. For another sought-after area, drive 10 minutes north of Las Americas to Del Duque Beach, a chic stretch with clear waters and a relaxing vibe. Prefer a beach with a boardwalk? Don’t miss the pristine shores of Los Cristianos. To experience unique scenery, venture north or west and relish the black-sand beaches at Jardin or Los Gigantes Beach.
If you’re looking to see more than just the sea and sand, mosey into one of the many captivating villages. Santa Cruz de Tenerife, for example, is a must-visit part of town, where you’ll find heavy Spanish influences among numerous restaurants and a laid-back ambience. Check out the architectural wonder, the Auditorio de Tenerife “Adan Martin,” which has become symbolic of the archipelago. Next, marvel at the ancient dragon trees—said to be more 1,000 years old—in Icod de los Vinos, and then hike the trails in the mountain village of Masca.

This is the fourth episode from my Tenerife holiday series.

Episode Four :
Masca is one of the most picturesque parts of the island and is located in the northwest at the foot of the Teno Mountains. This beautiful little village may be somewhat difficult to reach but it is well worth the journey, which takes you through deep ravines interlaced with lush green flora and winding roads with hairpin bends. The scenery on the way is breathtaking and once you reach Masca, the natural beauty of this stunning location is overwhelming.
Until recently it was virtually unknown, but has now become a centre of attraction for those touring the island. The setting of the village is magical and its houses perch precariously on the narrow ridges of dramatic rock formations. It really is a photographer’s dream destination.
Dragon Tree (Drago Millenario) : In the town of Icod de los Vinos on the north side of the island, this impressive specimen of Dracaena draco, the Canary Island Dragon Tree, is called the 'Drago Milenario' because it was thought to be more than a thousand years old (now it's been estimated at less than 1,000 — regardless, it's the oldest of its kind). What's unmistakable is its majesty; 18 metres (59 feet) tall, it spreads its branches as if they were countless arms.
There are claims that it is the oldest tree on the planet. The species gets its name because, when the bark or the leaves are cut, they secrete a red coloured resin, which is said to be the dried blood of dragons which, apparently, has healing properties. In the past, this dragon's blood was extracted on an industrial scale and used to make varnishes and lacquers. So many of these trees disappeared as a result that, nowadays, the tree is a protected species.
Garachico is a municipality and town on the northern coast of Tenerife. It is still very Spanish in character, and a Spanish phrasebook is advisable for non-Spanish speaking visitors.
The town itself is low rise and a mixture of renovated and in need of renovation buildings, and includes several large courtyard style houses There are many hidden shops that appear to be private houses until they open their doors and display their wares. Most streets are cobbled and narrow, with cars parked on one side. Next to the main church there is a big open square, with a bar under the bandstand. An old monastery is adjacent to the main square and open to the public.
Playa del Duque is a premium beach on Costa Adeje in southern Tenerife. This whole area is a high-quality, exclusive resort; the essence of chic. And the beach is just as fantastic! Walk along the soft golden sand, feel it between your toes… take a dip in the warm, crystal clear waters… unwind on sumptuous sunbeds in glorious sunshine while listening to the sound of the waves gently lapping the shore
