Tenerife Travel Guide: Top 10 Things To Do (4K)
I have put together this Tenerife Travel Guide to share my experience of the island and hopefully give an insight into the many different excursions and day trips you can do, as well as some of the less touristy spots too.
This video covers flights to Tenerife, Tenerife hire car, and Tenerife accommodation.
More Car Hire Info:
This Tenerife top 10 travel guide includes: Teide National Park, Siam Park, whale and dolphin watching, Tenerife beaches, Icod, Masca, Santa Cruz, Spanish fiestas and more.
In my experience, people come to Tenerife for the sunshine and sometimes don't leave their all inclusive resort which is a huge shame as Tenerife has so much to offer. Hopefully my Tenerife Top 10 may persuade you to explore further if you're planning a trip to Tenerife.
Tenerife is part of the Canary Islands and my family have been taking their holiday here for over 30 years. Tenerife and the Canary Islands hold a special place in my heart and I want to share with you why.

BEST VACATION SPOT IN THE WORLD | TOP TRAVEL DESTINATION - TENERIFE - CANARY ISLANDS BY DRONE
Tenerife is one of the best vacation and travel destination spots in the world. It is the largest and most populated island of the seven Canary Islands. It is also the most populated island of Spain, with 43 percent of the total population of the Canary Islands. Tenerife is the largest and most populous island of Macaronesia.
About five million tourists visit Tenerife each year, the most of any of the Canary Islands. It is one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain and the world. Tenerife hosts one of the world's largest carnivals and the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is working to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Served by two airports, Tenerife North Airport and Tenerife South Airport, Tenerife is the economic centre of the archipelago. The 1977 collision of two Boeing 747 passenger jets at Tenerife North Airport, resulting in 583 deaths, remains the deadliest aviation accident in world history.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the island and the seat of the island council (cabildo insular). The city is capital of the autonomous community of Canary Islands (shared with Las Palmas), sharing governmental institutions such as presidency and ministries. Between the 1833 territorial division of Spain and 1927, Santa Cruz de Tenerife was the sole capital of the Canary Islands. In 1927 the Crown ordered that the
capital of the Canary Islands be shared, as it remains at present. Santa Cruz contains the modern Auditorio de Tenerife, the architectural symbol of the Canary Islands.
The island is home to the University of La Laguna; founded in 1792 in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, it is the oldest university in the Canaries. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city is the second to have been founded on the island,
and is the third of the archipelago. The city of La Laguna was capital of the Canary Islands before Santa Cruz replaced it in 1833.
Teide National Park, a World Heritage Site in the center of the island, has Teide, the highest elevation of Spain, the highest of the islands of the Atlantic Ocean, and the third-largest volcano in the world from its base. Also located on the island, Macizo de Anaga since 2015 has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It has the largest number of endemic species in Europe.

We're in one of Britain's favourite destinations. Is there anywhere that defies expectation as much as Tenerife? For decades the Canary's largest island has been a package holiday mecca. With miles of beautiful beaches, year round sunshine and top quality all inclusives encouraging over 5 million of us to visit every year. But for those with an adventurous spirit, Tenerife gives so much more. Cycling, hiking, water sports, caving and some truly epic drives are just a sample of what's waiting for you outside the resort. Tenerife was formed by eruptions by Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain, and the volcano at the centre of the island. These eruptions gave birth to some of Tenerife most iconic landscapes such as the black sand beach at Los Gigantes, the boulder strewn National Park and the rugged mountains and rainforests of Anaga, all of this melts away at the coast into some of Spain's most idyllic beaches and lively resorts. Tourists began visiting north Tenerife in the 1960s but it wasn't until the 80s, when tourism boomed in the south, where the hotter and dryer climate attracted British holidaymakers looking for guaranteed sun. Costa Adeje, Las Americas, Siam Park, Los Cristianos, these are all firm favourites for Tenerife's British visitors. However I hope I can inspire you to explore Tenerife and experience everything it has to offer. It has never been easier to hire a car, go on an adventure, and make the most of your holiday. Join us as we head north into the heart of Tenerife. Would I find authentic Canarian culture? Could I find adventure on this well travelled path?Could I discover what made Tenerife into such an attractive destination in the first place? We leave the south behind to explore Tenerife's capital, Santa Cruz and then on day two we'll adventure into Teide National Park to discover some of the most epic landscapes I have ever seen. This is Tenerife like you've never seen it before.
Like any good adventure, our journey begins at the airport. After dropping the car with a handy meet and greet service we were straight into a lounge before our flight. A quiet seat, all the food one could want, free drinks and high speed WiFi make a lounge a great way to start any trip abroad. Soon enough we were boarding and on our way. After a four and a half hour flight, we touched down as most tourists do at Tenerife South Airport. From here, we had a Holiday Extras transfer already booked. We followed the instructions on our confirmation and were picked up by our driver at the car hire desks before being taken directly to our accommodation in Santa Cruz. After a long day's travel this really does take the hassle away from what can be the most stressful part of any holiday. The next morning, I woke up ready to start exploring Santa Cruz. First on the agenda was heading out to get a classic Spanish breakfast. So it might not be the healthiest way to start your day but it's definitely the tastiest. So we've got freshly squeezed orange juice, good churros and the star of the show, which is this thick, chocolate sauce. It's come in a mug. I'm not sure if you're meant to drink it because that would be something else. But I know what you are meant to do is get these guys and dunk them in, and then enjoy. Churros are a traditional Spanish and Portugese breakfast snack made from dough created by mixing, flour, water and salt. They're fried until crunchy and served with thick hot chocolate. So after all that chocolate I'm thinking it's a good idea to walk it off, so we're heading to Parque Garcia Sanabría and to do that we're using the trusty Google Maps. So you type in where you need to go and follow the blue dots. Now there is a tram system that runs through town but actually it's quickest just to walk most of the time so we're going to do exactly that. Parque Garcia Sanabría is an oasis of calm in the heart of Santa Cruz. Covering 17 acres, the park is named after the mayor who approved its construction in the 1920s. The park is used by locals for dog walking, exercising, relaxing and just generally unwinding. As I walked along the sun-dappled pathways, I didn't see any tourists at all.
Tenerife (Spain) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Vacation travel video about destination Tenerife in Spain.
Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands, captivating, mysterious and vibrant, the ‘island of eternal spring’. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and located just three hundred kilometres from the African continent.Santa Cruz De Tenerife, north east of the island, is its capital, port and commercial metropolis. The Capitania General, which once served as the seat of the island’s military governors, recalls the time of General Franco’s rule. In addition to the Canary’s flora and fauna, the abundant remains of an extinct culture is particularly interesting, the islands’ indigenous people, the Guanches. Well-preserved mummies, which have been found in numerous caves, document their mummification ritual. Puerto De La Cruz is located on the splendid north coast, a city where both old and new combine and with a fishing and harbour district that were founded around five hundred years ago. With its Neo Classical bell tower, the Francia De La Peña Church dominates among palms, oleander and hibiscus. Teide National Park contains solidified boulders of lava and pumice fields that originated from volcanic activity. A huge crater formed around five hundred thousand years ago when the primal Teide Volcano erupted repeatedly. An island born of fire and water where remarkable weather, mysterious volcanoes and deep blue sea determine everyday life and where vegetation and moon landscapes capture the attention. Tenerife is most certainly the priceless pearl of the Canary Islands.

Personal Travel: Tenerife Island Tour (Canary Island, Spain)
This is what we did on our 5th day in Tenerife.
This video will show you Tenerife's most beautiful scenic locations. Starting on the south-west coast, views are dominated by Los Gigantes. Made our way through the village of Santiago del Teide, we reached Erjos, the plateau of the volcano, where we saw the splendours of Mount Teide. Headed north, we stopped at Mirador de Garachico (observation platform) that was partly destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1706. We then went to Icod de Los Vinos, we stop at the famous thousand-year-old Dragon Tree. Next stop was La Orotava, old town full of history and architecture, and we visited La Casa de los Balcones, that offers typical embroidery.
We stopped for lunch at Pueblochico.
Finally, we visited Candelaria, where we saw the black Madonna.

Siam Mall Shopping Centre - Costa Adeje Santa Cruz (Tenerife Travel Guide 2019)
Join me in Tenerife, where I take a trip to Siam Mall in Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz. It has two floors with more than 70 stores and has parking lots above and below the ground for a total of 1.100 free parking spaces for clients. Siam Mall is an open centre that takes advantage of the great climate of the island.
It has large green spaces, open squares and fountains that freshen the area. The design is meant to make the most of the sun and the pleasant weather that we enjoy year-round. The centre is Thailand-themed, with many statues and ornaments designed and made in Thailand for Siam Mall.
Siam Mall boasts of the largest selection of fashion, restoration and leisure in the southern part of the island and is the best choice for both tourists and locals.
There is a free bus service that does a route across the main tourist zones of Los Cristianos, Las Americas and Costa Adeje. Visiting Siam Mall is an easy and comfortable experience for the more than 4 million tourists that come to southern Tenerife every year.

We’re talking about weather in Tenerife.
The reason Tenerife is so popular is because of the weather. It’s where us Brits go for our Winter sun. Yeah, I mean, it’s sunny pretty much all year round with lows in December, January, February time of about 15 degrees, which to be fair is a pretty good day in England, still. And highs of about 29 in July and August.
But if you’re going to go into the sea, the best time is probably September and October, when the water’s about 24 degrees at its highest. Yep.
So we went to Tenerife in November, when England was completely miserable and about zero degrees and Tenerife was about 23 to 25, so nice and warm but not too hot and sticky. Actually, where it is on the globe, cue globe, as you can see, it’s kind of…here. So you’ve got Africa and the Atlantic Ocean, meaning that all of these winds from the Atlantic Ocean bring a nice, thanks Jon, cool breeze, so it’s nice and fresh, for want of a better word.
So Tenerife is an island of micro-climates. This means that you can go between the sometimes snow-capped volcano Teide and down in the south, where the hot beaches are, within the space of two hours.
Now, if you are going to go up slightly higher, we’d recommend bringing a few layers because it does get kind of chilly in the evenings, the higher you go up into the mountains.
Yep. But you’re more likely to be hot than you are cold, so make sure you look after yourself - bring suncream, some sunglasses, make sure you maybe bring a hat so that you can kind of keep the sun off your head and don’t get sunstroke and wreck your whole holiday. And drink lots of water! Not beer! Err, stay safe kids! Enjoy the sun…responsibly.
So that’s our round-up of the weather in Tenerife. Hopefully that’s been useful to you.
Yep, if you have any comments or anything, just chuck them in the comments section below. We’d love to hear from you. And don’t forget to subscribe. Yeah, thanks for watching :)
