The Sidewalks of New York: The Documentary (CC)
This film is a documentary that begins with the tale of the famous tune and builds every moment toward the fascinating story behind Governor Al Smith, the most forgotten historical figure in American history. The elections of 1924 and 1928 are featured prominently in the story's second half, and along the way a handful of songs from the same time period are played to portray that, while this film is somewhat about the tune 'The Sidewalks of New York', the other songs do their part to lift up and bring the story home, all joining together to complete one of the most inspiring tales in New York history.
To watch with music at a slightly lower volume:
Corrections and updates:
- Joshua Beal (not Joseph) is the proper credit for the panoramic photograph
- Angel Guastaferro performed Pretty Jennie Slattery on piano
- Al Smith's wife Catherine, known as Katie, died several months before Al did, not just one week
- William Wordsworth originally coined the Happy Warrior words

3. Opening of New East River Bridge, New York - Williamsburg Bridge, on the East River
4. 'Move On' - A fruit market somewhere on the lower East Side
5. At the Foot of The Flatiron, or Fuller Building on Broadway and 23rd Street, on the Broadway side near the narrow north corner.
6. Parade of Exempt Firemen - Washington Square Park (Greenwich Village) showing Washington Square Arch
7. Panorama of Blackwell's Island, N.Y. - Heading along the eastern shore of Blackwell's Island, known today as Roosevelt Island. Shows Lighthouse Park and the construction of the Queensboro Bridge over Roosevelt Island, with Manhattan in the far background.

Website nyc.gov
New York en-us-New York.ogg /nuːˈjɔrk/ (help·info)) is the most populous city in the United States, and the center of the New York metropolitan area, which is among the most populous urban areas in the world. A leading global city, New York exerts a powerful influence over worldwide commerce, finance, culture, fashion and entertainment. As host of the United Nations headquarters, it is also an important center for international affairs. The city is often referred to as New York City to differentiate it from the state of New York, of which it is a part
Located on a large natural harbor on the Atlantic coast of the Northeastern United States, the city consists of five boroughs: The Bronx Brooklyn Manhattan Queens and Staten Island. The city's 2007 estimated population exceeds 8.3 million people and with a land area of 305 square miles New York City is the most densely populated major city in the United States The New York metropolitan areas population is also the nation's largest, estimated at 18.8 million people over 6,720 square miles Furthermore the Combined Statistical Area containing the Greater New York City metropolitan area contained 21.962 million people as of 2007 Census estimates, also the largest in the United States.
New York was founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch in 1624. The settlement was called New Amsterdam until 1664 when the colony came under English control.[7] New York served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790.[8] It has been the country's largest city since 1790.[9]
Many neighborhoods and landmarks in the city have become world-famous. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan, has been a dominant global financial center since World War II and is home to the New York Stock Exchange. The city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world, including the Empire State Building and the twin towers of the former World Trade Center.
The City is the birthplace of many cultural movements, including the Harlem Renaissance in literature and visual art, abstract expressionism (also known as the New York School) in painting, and hip hop,[10] punk,[11] salsa, disco and Tin Pan Alley in music. It is the home of Broadway theater.
New York is notable among American cities for its high use of mass transit, most of which runs 24 hours per day, and for the overall density and diversity of its population. In 2005, nearly 170 languages were spoken in the city and 36% of its population was born outside the United States.[12][13] The city is sometimes referred to as The City that Never Sleeps, while other nicknames include The Capital of the world, Gotham, and the Big Apple

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Col. Jessep (Jack Nicholson) reacts angrily when he realizes that he has been arrested.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this military courtroom drama based on the play by Aaron Sorkin, Navy lawyer Lt. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) is assigned to defend two Marines, Pfc. Louden Downey (James Marshall) and Lance Cpl. Harold Dawson (Wolfgang Bodison), who are accused of the murder of fellow leatherneck Pfc. William Santiago (Michael de Lorenzo) at the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Kaffee generally plea bargains for his clients rather than bring them to trial, which is probably why he was assigned this potentially embarassing case, but when Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore) is assigned to assist Kaffee, she is convinced that there's more to the matter than they've been led to believe and convinces her colleague that the case should go to court. Under questioning, Downey and Dawson reveal that Santiago died in the midst of a hazing ritual known as Code Red after he threatened to inform higher authorities that Dawson opened fire on a Cuban watchtower. They also state that the Code Red was performed under the orders of Lt. Jonathan Kendrick (Kiefer Sutherland). Kendrick's superior, tough-as-nails Col. Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson), denies any knowledge of the order to torture Santiago, but when Lt. Col. Matthew Markinson (J.T. Walsh) confides to Kaffee that Jessup demanded the Code Red for violating his order of silence, Kaffee and Galloway have to find a way to prove this in court. A Few Good Men also features Kevin Bacon as prosecuting attorney Capt. Jack Ross and Kevin Pollak as Kaffee and Galloway's research assistant, Lt. Sam Weinberg.

Abandoned NY - Bannerman Castle
Drones explore abandoned Bannerman Castle located in the Hudson River in upstate NY.
Pollepel Island has been called many different names, including Pollopel Island, Pollopel's Island, Bannerman's Island, and Bannermans' Island. The name is a Dutch word meaning (wooden) ladle, but the Bannerman Castle Trust organization ascribes the name to a folk tale about a young girl named Polly Pell having been stranded on the island.
The island is about 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City and about 1,000 feet (300 m) from the Hudson River's eastern bank. It contains about 6.5 acres (26,000 m2), most of it rock.

Michael Hill's Blues Mob is an American blues trio. The members have variously included Michael Hill, his bass guitar playing brother, Kevin, and singing sisters, Wynette and Kathy.
Originally formed in the early 1990s by Michael Hill (born 1952, The Bronx, New York, United States),] the Blues Mob is a trio - however they sometimes add keyboards. Hill came to blues music from the atypical social and musical background of the Bronx and the Black Rock Coalition.
With the release of their first album Bloodlines in 1994, Michael Hill's Blues Mob established themselves. Bloodlines went on to earn the Living Blues Critic's award for Debut Blues Album of the Year. The next four years saw the band release two more albums on Alligator Records; Have Mercy! (1996) and New York State Of Blues (1998). Michael Hill's Blues Mob have appeared at the Chicago Blues Festival and Memphis in May. Their tours have included most of Europe, with five trips each to Brazil and Australia.
Michael Hill's Blues Mob released their fourth album, Suite: Larger Than Life in 2001 on Singular Records in the US and Dixiefrog in Europe. This was followed by a concept album, Electric Storyland Live (2003), and the compilation album, Black Gold and Goddesses Bold (2005)
