ASB Civic Theatre Blenheim
Robinson Construction, the company that has won the contract to complete the project
Theatre trust fundraising committee manager Ross Anderson said siting the performing arts centre next to the Marlborough Convention Centre, which is part of the Clubs complex, was in line with modern international design and would help boost the conference market in Blenheim.
Robinson Construction was founded by Ian Robinson in 1975.
The company is now headed by brothers Phil and Nick Robinson, who have followed in their father's footsteps and continued a family tradition, being firmly established in the construction industry.
The company is managed by Phil as Managing Director and Nick as Construction Manager.
When Robinson Construction was first established, its focus was on building residential homes. Over time this focus has changed to meet the demands of a variable construction market.
Robinson Construcion now works primarily on commercial projects while constructing a small number of architecturally designed executive residential homes each year.
Despite a proliferation of housing in the lower to middle range, Robinson Construction has stood its ground focusing on jobs that require extensive construction experience and high quality outcomes.
Partly due to the companys long standing presence in the industry as well as its many high profile construction projects, Robinson Construction is now a firmly established Marlborough company with a solid reputation.
This reputation has seen the company recognised nationally numerous times over the years.

Ben Hurley - Earth Planet World
HURLEY’S COMEDY TOUR AROUND THE WHOLE EARTH PLANET WORLD
Since South Sudan became an independent state in 2011, there are 195 sovereign states, and Ben is planning a comedy journey through all of them. From Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, they all have their quirks and Ben is perfectly placed to show us how funny they all are.
Having being performing comedy for over 15 years, this show is the biggest challenge Ben has set himself to date. Unlike most shows which grow out of material that is tested a tried on audiences throughout the year, this show has to be written specifically around this very specific theme.
On top of great content and an insane amount of research, Hurley’s execution is on point. He roars onto the stage with child-like energy and manages to keep himself – and the audience – buzzing throughout the entire hour – Metro (NZ)
There are big ones, small ones, disputed ones and even unrecognized ones, but Hurley will do his damn best to cram in a joke about each one of them into this hour.

Prayer for Christchurch - Marlborough Multicultural Festival 2011
Reverend Brendan O'Hagan leads the crowd of many nationalities in prayer for Christchurch at the Marlborough Multicultural Festival 2011, supported by Marlborough Mayor Alistair Sowman, and Kaikoura Electorate MP Colin King.
During the festival, the Marlborough Migrant Centre provided the opportunity for people to donate, with funds going to the NZ Red Cross.
There had been some suggestions that the festival be cancelled this year, however it was decided that a day of free entertainment and celebration would be a good way to take people's minds off the disaster, including many Christchurch people staying with friends and relatives in Blenheim.
The Marlborough Multicultural Festival is organised by Marlborough Migrant Centre
