Lesser Known Coffee Shops to Try Around Leeds
Leeds city centre is chock-full of grade-A coffee shops and cafes, scattered amongst various chain locations as well. There are a few, though, that don’t seem to get the recognition they deserve. Here are three lesser-known coffee shops located in the city, all within walking distance of each other.

Yorkshire Cooks' Masterclass: Brandy snap basket at the Flying Pizza, Leeds
It's been an eatery in which to see and be seen for the past 30-odd years - and for good reason: the food is first class and authentically Italian. The Flying Pizza in Street Lane, Roundhay, has long been a locals' choice, alongside a coterie of surgeons, lawyers and business people.
Ingredients (serves four):
2 grams of yeast of beer
2 tablespoons of olive or vegetable oil
½ glass of white wine
1 dessert spoon of salt
1 teaspoon of sugar
500 grams of flour, type 00
½ pint of cold water (approx)
When all the ingredients are mixed together and kneaded, cover with a damp cloth and leave for around one to one-and-a-half hours. Separate and roll into fist-sized balls shaping into pizzas. After topping, place in a pre-heated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for around 10 minutes.

Eastern Airways Jetstream41 | Anglesey - Cardiff | Full flight report 2018
Airline: Eastern Airways (EZE/T3) Opf FlyBe
Flight: BE7615 (VLY-CWL)
Depart: 0855
Arrive: 0945
Seat: 5A
Aircraft: G-MAJG
My first time ever flying onboard a Jetstream41 with Eastern Airways from the Isle of Anglesey from RAF Valley to Cardiff Airport.
The flight was around 40 minutes duration at an altitude of 13,000ft.
The terminal is small but functional , online check-in is available and upon arriving at the terminal you can make your way straight through to the small security area where your luggage will then be scanned.
Once through security there is a small seating area where complimentary tea & coffee is availabe to anyone who would care for a pre flight drink.
Once our aircraft arrived it was a short time before we then boarded. As you approach the aircraft a small trolley is placed next to the front door where you can drop your pieces of luggage which will then be placed into the hold at the rear of the plane (this includes your hand luggage too as there is little space within the cabin for you to have even a small haversack close by you).
Note: All your luggage will be immediately available to collect from the trolley upon disembarking the aircraft on arrival , thus avoiding any need to spend many pointless minutes waiting at an airport carousel hoping your luggage will turn up!
Once boarded and settled comfortably into my seat our Captain gave us a brief overview into our flight for the morning before our kind flight attendant pointed out the safety features of the aircraft before performing a demonstration of what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency.
This all complete the left engine roared into life , and all of us were offered a complimentary Foxes glacier sweet selection along with ear plugs should you wish to use them (as the noise in the cabin may be more than some are accustomed to).
We then begain our taxi to runway 19, following 2 of the RAF's Hawks which were setting off on a training exercise just ahead of us.
Once they'd departed we quickly followed with a quick departure taking us straight out to the west of Caernarfon.
The constant roar of the turboprop was music to the ears of a keen enthusiast such as myself.
After climbing through 8000ft our flight attendant then began a trolley service offering complimentary drinks and snacks.
As you see at 9:46 an offering of Biscuits , wholegrain bars, crisps and baked treats.
I took the option of a fresh orange juice along with a Kit Kat 9:55.
The vibration caused by the turboprop was such that my orange juice would turn a full 180 degrees whilst placed on the tray (quite a fun thing to watch as you turn it facing towards you , only for it to slowly turn away again).
A calm pleasant flight ensued at 13,000ft followed for the next 25 minutes , punctuated with small glimpses here and there of the beautiful Welsh countrside.
We then began our (what seemed) quick descent into Cardiff , and before you knew it the seatbelt sign was illuminated and hasty preparations were made for our landing.
Passing through clouds at 6,000ft, and there below us was the Bristol Channel, as we were about to establish on the ILS at Cardiff.
No sooner were we on approach than we landed on ruwnay 30 before taxiing out to a remote stand.
As the propellors slowed to a stop we were all kindly asked to remain in our seats whilst the ground crew gathered our luggage from the hold so we could immediately collect it from the trolley upon disembarking the aircraft.
As soon as this was complete we all made our way to the front to exit. I quickly enquired as ot the possibility of saying a brief hello to the flightcrew, our flight attendant kindly agreed and I spent a few precious moments having a look inside the cockpit of the Jetstream41. (An amazing aircraft & amazing crew).
Having thanked the crew for an amazing first time flight onboard the Jetstream41 , it then emerged they would be flying me back to Anglesey the same day on the evening flight.
So I set off on the bus which took us back to the terminal , reflecting on what had been a truly amazing experience.
After meeting my good friend Archie we then set off in his car to film the inaugural Qatar Airways A350 flight from Doha.
The day just seemed to get better and better.
And there is still much more to come. Stay tuned for the next part.

Strictly Come Dancing cast are left STRANDED at Manchester Airport as their bus fails to arrive... y
The Strictly Come Dancing cast and crew were left stranded at Manchester Airport in the midst of the UK tour on Thursday. The group were spotted outside the airport and clustered into a group as it was revealed they were waiting 30 minutes for their coach to arrive. Kelvin Fletcher, Katya Jones and Saffron Barker seemed to find the funny side of the situation as they frolicked in the street before they were finally picked up. Show winner Kelvin was in no mood to blend into the background as he donned a neon hoodie from Gaz Beadle's clothing range 11 Degrees. He beamed at cameras yet could not resist looking slightly bored as he leaned against a lamppost with his hands slung in his pockets. Catherine Tyldesley seemed less pleased about the delay as she walked along with a coffee and wore a stylish denim dress and boots. Katya was larking around in style as she saw the fun in the situation by beaming at cameras in a cheeky style. Stacey Dooley flashed a look at her tumbling red locks while donning a cream jumper. The latest dates in the tour comes after Kelvin had a lot to celebrate after turning 36 last week, as he marked the occasion with a visit to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Charity to bring some cheer to the young patients. In a video posted by the hospital, the star is seen jumping back and forth in a dance routine along with the Singing Doctors Medicine Team. They captioned the adorable video of his visit: 'It's a 10 from us! We've just had a very special visit from Strictly winner and former Emmerdale actor, @Kelvin_Fletcher!'In Birmingham on the @bbcstrictly tour, Kelvin popped into our hospital to say hello to some of our brave patients and fabulous doctors and nurses.'He even had a little sing song with our brilliant Singing Medicine team. A little birdie also told us it's Kelvin's birthday today and we're so touched he chose to spend it with us! Happy Birthday Kelvin and best of luck for the show tonight!'
British Airways Full Flight | Leeds Bradford to London Heathrow | Airbus A319 (with ATC)
A full length full flight video in real time with British Airways, from Leeds Bradford to London Heathrow, onboard Airbus A319 G-EUOF operating flight BA1341 on September 30 2016.
**Every moment of the flight included from airport to airport. ATC for entire flight.**
Our journey begins outside Leeds Bradford airport on a chilly autumn morning. We walk into the airport and terminal, heading through security to airside on this busy morning.
We are soon called for boarding through gate 8, and board our ride down to London today, Airbus A319 G-EUOF. As we board the aircraft the captain is talking to ATC about our departure and asking if we can get an early turn due to the weather to the west of the airport today.
We take our seat in seat 2A, near to the front of this small aircraft. Before long we get our clearance to pushback, start our engines and taxi to runway 32. We enjoy a powerful buzzsaw departure from the bumpy runway at Leeds. We make a left turn towards Manchester, enjoying some great views of northern England on this beautiful morning. Our cruising altitude is a rather sedate 19,000ft today, FL190. We are served a snack and coffee on the short flight as we cruise overhead Stoke on Trent and Birmingham. The news soon comes that as expected we wil have to hold at Bovingdon before commencing our approach, the first officer giving us a great description of our progress and route.
We enter the hold at Bovingdon and are soon cleared to continue our approach under the control of Heathrow Director. We get a great view over east London and London City Airport on this clear morning as we commence our approach to runway 27L at Heathrow. We get a very late landing clearance into Heathrow, just a few seconds before crossing the threshold over Myrtle Avenue. After a smooth touchdown our short flight is over and we taxi to Terminal 5. As we disembark the aircraft we follow celebrity chef Ken Hom through the terminal as we make our way throught the terminal. We head straight for the London Underground station at Terminal 5 for our short ride into central London.
