National Gallery of Ireland - Inspiration for the Nation
On June 15 2017, after six years of meticulous rebuilding, refurbishment and restoration, the Historic Wings of the National Gallery of Ireland reopened to the public. Having been stored away for many years, the National Art Collection is back in its rightful place, on the walls of the people's Gallery. New works hang proudly alongside Ireland's favourite paintings, thousands of stories waiting to be explored. The National Gallery of Ireland and the National Art Collection. This is your art, your Gallery.

A €10,000 oil painting for a tip off
I want to create an oil painting for you, worth €10,000 , but I need your help in return. After a decade of renting my home and studio, I was served notice. Staring into the unknown, I know I don't want to be in the mess that is the irish rental market right now, with rents simply going up and up, therefore I decided to look at the neglected houses, the abandoned, run down, with the hope of renovating or rebuilding. I'm a self employed artist so my budget will have to be creatively used for this project. If you know of any such houses, perhaps there's one in your families' possesssion after a grandparent passed on, or you know of ones nearby just sitting vacant, I would love to hear from you. I'm hoping as coastal as possible as the Sea is in my blood, from West Cork, all through Kerry , up to South Galway. If you can put me on the right path and I end up buying where you tipped off, I will create an oil painting for you, either of you or a loved one, or if you'd prefer I would have someone model for it, based on a theme or narrative you want. It will be yours to own, to keep..If I end up renting thanks to your lead, I will create an oil painting for you worth €3000. This is open to anyone, you may be living in America, but have family back in Ireland originally who left a property to you or know of folks.Wherever you are, if you help me in my next step , my next studio , I will reward you .email me any leads you may have - iamdairelynch@gmail.com , or find me on instagram - instagram.com/dairelynch facebook.com/dairelynchTo see what paintings are available to buy a part of the Home Is Where The Art Is '' sale, go to dairelynch.com/homeiswheretheartis#dairelynch#homeiswheretheartis#irishart#irishartist#wildatlanticway#neglectedirishhomes#abandonedhomesireland#helpeachother

Cillín, Tommy Weir at The Dock
Cillín, an exhibition of new work by photographer Tommy Weir at The Dock.
From the 7th Century, through the Middle Ages and continuing to the late 20th Century, unbaptised children were rarely buried in consecrated ground. Denied access to the graveyard, they were buried in cillíní instead. These unofficial graveyards form a part of the Irish landscape, numbering several thousand across Ireland.
Weir has collaborated with poet, Una Mannion and archaeologist, Dr. Marion Dowd on this body of work, bringing together photography, science and poetry, looking at the Irish relationship to death and ritual over the centuries.
Tommy Weir is a photographer based North West of Ireland. Originally from Dublin, Weir has had a career spanning the arts, from visual art through publishing, design, theatre, film and photography.
This exhibition was organised by the RHA, touring to The Dock, Carrick on Shannon and to Uillinn, West Cork Arts Centre, Skibbereen, 7th November to 16th December 2020. Kindly supported through the Arts Council of Ireland‘s Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme.
Exhibition continues until Saturday 14th March, 2020

Video Installation for WYA exhibition
This is a slightly altered version of a video I did for Spraoi when they produced the opening ceremonies for Cork 2005, European Capital of Culture. The performance piece was staged along and IN the River Lee (artistic directors Dermot Quinn and Mike Leahy, soundtrack by Mark Graham) with an amazing cast and crew.
The video was projected simultaneously at 3 points on the river, and one of the screens was a massive misty wall of water.
It was a great collaborative effort, and some of the faces we lured in off the streets of Cork for the taping were fantastic. I wanted to get some candid reaction shots, so asked some of the more mature folks about their sex lives... the shock and laughter was priceless.
My passion for filmmaking goes back 40 yrs, but my time with Waterford Youth Drama and the WYD-Eye Film Unit helped me earn my digital video chops. I'm very happy to be included in their anniversary exhibition.
welcome to Limerick riverside City!! (virtual tour)
