Paris is composed of 20 arrondissements which are basically 20 neighborhoods. Each arrondissement has a city hall. I decided to show you what these city halls and their surroundings look like. So here you go with first the city hall of the last arrondissement: the twentieth.

I'm disabled and my spouse never waits for me, so I had to move along and this is a little shaky at points.

I've lived in Paris Saint-Denis since 1994 and am American by birth. I speak French fluently and have a dual nationality.
Since we had just been in the nabe to see a free art show (Marcel Storr) and weren't there for shopping, we were not able to ascertain whether any of these prices were good or not, but there was tremendous variety in this area. The 20th is not a very posh area. It is already very expensive to buy or rent in, however. There are still areas of Paris which are very dangerous and unpleasant, unfortunately. Père Lachaise Cemetery is not far from here and you might want to see the free museum at 121, rue de Ménilmontant, which is open from 11 am until 6 pm from Tuesdays through Saturdays, buy some food here, and then take a picnic into the huge cemetery.

20th Arrondissement to Belleville
Murals galore, an anarchist library, and the obligatory Welcome to the Community by the Coca-Cola Poison Company, Inc.
Cité Leroy (Paris, 20th Arrondissement)
A cité usually refers to a unified group of buildings, with some variations. A villa is often a little private or semi-private street or alley. Some are really elegant and exclusive, and some are just old housing projects. Many date back well over a century.
When you can get in (some are locked or marked private), please be quiet and tidy.
This part of Paris is very hilly and has some steep streets with camelbacks as challenging as San Francisco. This is a huge Coptic Christian church right near here and this community is extremely mixed, both as far as race and wealth goes. You will find Africans here squatting and you will find million-euro renovations going on. This is right in Paris so is fully served by public transportation -- a métro choice for where I made this clip could be Pyrenées.
This is truly authentic Paris. You will hardly ever see tourists around here. The gorgeous Parc de Belleville has terraces, fountains, gardens, a vineyard and picnic and sunbathing areas, in addition to majestic views of Paris below. Like Montmartre, you get a spectacular panorama here and a variety of quaint sights, but as I've said, there are few tourists and so of course if you want to eat, drink, buy or do something, it is cheaper in these parts.
Europe and Scandinavia are expensive and hot during July and August, but this was a balmy late August Wednesday afternoon, so I rescheduled my appointments and went looking for a place to buy, again. I can't decide among authentic Paris proper, a near-area such as Saint-Ouen, or the Côte d'Azur on the Mediterranean. I can't have all three.

The Country in Paris
92 houses/parcels of land were planned here near a gypsum quarry in the 20th arrondissement of Paris just after 1900. They were intended for low-income worker households so that they could own their own domiciles. It was a successful project and continues to thrive, though is now a very costly and desireable place to live. Despite the périphérique's proximity, it is very quiet here.
Gypsum is used to make plaster of Paris.
This area has many steep stairs connecting it with other streets, and there is a place/plaza/square nearby with a distinctly village-square-like quality to it. This clip was made on a Sunday Summer afternoon.

Measuring 8.64 hectares (21.3 acres) in area, it is the largest square in the French capital. It is located in the city's eighth arrondissement, at the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées.
The Tuileries Garden is a public garden located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. Created by Catherine de Medici as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was eventually opened to the public in 1667, and became a public park after the French Revolution. In the 19th and 20th century, it was the place where Parisians celebrated, met, promenaded, and relaxed.

French school opens its doors for foreign parents | AFP
A group of foreign parents whose children attend a school in Paris' 20th arrondissement are attending evening classes at the same establishment to boost their French language skills and help them get involved in their children's schooling. Before, I couldn't help my sons with their homework whereas now it's a pleasure, says mother Dionkounda Kanoute, one of those participating in the scheme which will soon be widened to enable more parents to take part.

A Superb (Free) View of Paris, France
Parc de Belleville is in the 20th arrondissement. It is a charming area in Paris, France with grape vines growing, hills and quaint villas, or little private streets of secluded city houses. Similar to Montmartre but never crowded, not at all touristy -- authentic Paris awaits you.
