KING's road : Walking on Ratchadamnoen Road (ถนนราชดำเนิน) | Bangkok Travel

Ratchadamnoen Avenue is the most important road in Banglamphu to the south of Khaosan Road. It was the largest and most extensive road at that time, King Rama V. Currently, it is relatively wide as an 8-lane road. Ratchadamnoen road has the meaning of 'royal procession' and connects The Grand Palace to Vimanmek Palace. There is always a large photo of the king or queen on the street median separator, along the road you can see the Democracy Monument, King Rama III Memorial, and The Queen's Gallery.

ถนนราชดำเนินเป็นถนนที่สำคัญที่สุดในบางลำพูไปทางทิศใต้ของถนนข้าวสาร เป็นถนนที่ใหญ่และกว้างขวางที่สุดในขณะนั้นพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวปัจจุบันมีถนนกว้าง 8 เลน ถนนราชดำเนินมีความหมายว่า 'ขบวนแห่พระราช' และเชื่อมต่อพระบรมมหาราชวังกับพระราชวังวิมานเมฆ พระมหากษัตริย์หรือพระราชินียังมีรูปขนาดใหญ่อยู่ที่ตัวแยกมัธยฐานถนนตามแนวถนนที่คุณสามารถเห็นอนุสาวรีย์ประชาธิปไตยอนุสรณ์สถานพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวรัชกาลที่ 3 และหอศิลป์สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินีนาถ

Khun Pridi takes the salute at a military parade (Seri Thai??) at Democracy Monument.

He travels up Sanam Luang, past the Rattanokosin Hotel and turns right onto Ratchadamnoen Avenue. Arriving at the monument he hops out of his car in front of one of the four the viewing pavilions - the one that is now a McDonald's burger joint.

In the soundtrack you have jolly happy Thai folk singing about their delight of 24th June 1932 coup. Which wasn't really so much about them getting a constitutional democracy as to having a military based government lumped onto them, one that was intent on state building and getting the folk to ride a tide of 1930s nationalism.
