While most tourists bypass this area instead going to the 1st arrondissement, there are plenty of exciting things to see! The Place Vendome is one of the city’s most famous and beautiful neoclassical squares. Completely surrounded by sober buildings, it currently houses some of the most famous high-end stores, such as, Dior, Chanel or Cartier. The square was previously called Place Louis le Grand, Place des Conquêtes, Place des Piques or Place International, and is nowadays an example of the opulence and luxury found in Paris.

This charming apartment is set in the heart of the Marais on a quiet street off the popular and desirable Rue Montorgreuil that offers a variety of cafes, restaurants, boulangeries and patisseries to enjoy. This spacious two bedroom apartment is set at the top of a traditionally French building, but the property is equipped with all the modern necessities. The 18th is a very tourist-heavy district with plenty of sites to see. Mostly known for Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur, watch as we explore this lively neighborhood.

A Walk Around The 12th Arrondissement of Paris

The 12th arrondissement of Paris (XIIe arrondissement) is one of the 20 arrondissements, or boroughs, of the capital city of France. In spoken French, this arrondissement is referred to as douzième (twelfth).

The arrondissement, called Reuilly, is situated on the right bank of the River Seine. The district has been significantly reorganized in recent decades, especially in the areas of Cour Saint-Émilion and Bercy, which now contain the French Ministry of Finances and the Bercy arena, now renamed Accorhotels Arena.

The 12th arrondissement contains the Opéra de la Bastille, the second largest opera house in Paris. It was inaugurated in 1989, on the 200th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille. The Bois de Vincennes is also located in this arrondissement.

A Walk Down Rue Saint-Denis, Paris

Rue Saint-Denis is one of the oldest streets in Paris. Its route was first laid out in the 1st century by the Romans, and then extended to the north in the Middle Ages. From the Middle Ages to the present day, the street has been notorious as a place of prostitution. Its name derives from it being the historic route to Saint-Denis.

The street extends as far as the 1st arrondissement and Rue de Rivoli to the south and as far as the 2nd arrondissement and the boulevard Saint-Denis to the north. It runs parallel to the boulevard de Sébastopol.

The ancient Roman route (Flanders road) leading to Saint-Denis, Pontoise and Rouen it competed with the route de Senlis, but gained an advantage over it with the demolition of the Grand Pont and the development of the royal abbey of Saint-Denis, becoming the triumphal way for royal entries into the capital.

Flanked by houses from 1134 onwards, the street has borne the alternative names of Sellerie de Paris and Sellerie de la Grande Rue (13th century) ; grand'rue de Paris ; grande rue or rue des Saints Innocents et grant chaussée de Monsieur / Monseigneur Saint-Denis (14th century). During the French Revolution, it was known as the rue de Franciade.

The street was one of the centres of the June Rebellion of 1832, immortalised in Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables, and which is referred to in the book as the Epic of the Rue Saint-Denis

We visited Paris, France in late May 2019. We stayed in the 18 arrondisement in a cute neighborhood called monmartre. In this video we walked around the neighborhood and visited the surrounding attractions.

A Walk Around The 7th Arrondissement of Paris

The 7th arrondissement of Paris (VIIe arrondissement) is one of the 20 arrondissements of the capital city of France. In spoken French, this arrondissement is referred to as septième.

The arrondissement, called Palais-Bourbon, includes some of the major and well-known tourist attractions of Paris, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Hôtel des Invalides (Napoleon's resting place), the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, and a concentration of such world-famous museums as the Musée d'Orsay, Musée Rodin, and the Musée du quai Branly.

Situated on the Rive Gauche—the Left bank of the River Seine—this central arrondissement, which includes the historical aristocratic neighbourhood of Faubourg Saint-Germain, contains a number of French national institutions, among them the French National Assembly and numerous government ministries. It is also home to many foreign diplomatic embassies, some of them occupying outstanding Hôtels particuliers.

The arrondissement has been home to the French upper class since the 17th century, when it became the new residence of French highest nobility. The district has been so fashionable within the French aristocracy that the phrase le Faubourg—referring to the ancient name of the current 7th arrondissement—has been used to describe French nobility ever since. The 7th arrondissement of Paris and Neuilly-sur-Seine form the most affluent and prestigious residential area in France.
