Dachstein Krippenstein Five Fingers - Visit Austria
Vlog # 3 brings us to Five Fingers Austria - Dachstein Krippenstein. We took the krippenstein cable car up for 29 Euro and walked to the lookout point in Obertraun Austria named Five Fingers.
Visit Hallstat Austria! It is about 10 min away from my favorite places to visit in Austria, Hallstat. Check out the Austrian tourism board for more amazing spots in Austria.

Austria Travel Vlog | Dachstein Mountains, 5 Fingers, Hallstatt, Salzburg // From Germany we hopped the border to Austria and snowshoed across the Austrian Alps called Dachstein Krippenstein to the crazy 5 Fingers viewing platform. From there we stayed in the Unesco village of Hallstatt where we rented a cute little wooden boat to drive around Hallstatt Lake—the views were out of this world. Or last stop in Austria was in the Sound of Music inspired city of Salzburg—the hills were definitely alive with the Sound of Music. We clearly need to come back to this beautiful country—there is so much more we want to explore.

Dachstein Krippenstein és a 5 fingers kilátó / Dachstein-Krippenstein peak and five fingers skywalk
Utunk az Obertrauni felvonóhoz vezetett, ahol 2 lépcsőben jutottunk el a kötélpálya végállomásra, majd egy fél órás túra vezetett fel a Krippenstein csúcsára (2108m) és a Five Fingers kilátóra. Innen jó kilátás nyílt a Hallsatti-tóra és a Dachstein 2696 méteres csúcsára.

OBERTRAUN WITH TIPSY MOM - Obertraun, Austria - Leonard Does Europe S1 E18
This is the start of a new leg of the trip! Agent M left for Baltimore, while my mom and I went on to Austria via train. Specifically, we stayed in the small, sleepy town of Obertraun, which is across the lake from the semi-tourist-trap-ish, but very beautiful, lakeside town of Hallstatt.
HOT TIP: If you want to visit Hallstatt, it's much less expensive to stay in Obertraun, and also much less crowded. Lodging was less than 1/4 the price of anything in Hallstatt, and it only took 15 minutes to get around the lake by bus or train and boat.

DACHSTEIN GONDOLA & ICE CAVE - Obertraun, Austria - Leonard Does Europe S1 E21
On our last day in Obertraun, my mother and I took a trip up the mountain (the same one that could be seen out of our hotel room window) in a gondola to see the Dachstein Ice Cave! My mom is afraid of heights, so she wasn't thrilled about the whole gondola thing. Then once we got up there we had to take a fairly strenuous 20 minute uphill walk to get to the mouth of the cave. But it was worth it, because the ice cave was very cool (pun intended - seriously it was really cold in there)!

Dachstein Ice Caves in Austrian Winter (Hallstatt Ice Caves) | Hallstatt Travel Vlog
In our latest Austria travel vlog we visit the Dachstein Ice Caves near Hallstatt. These are also commonly known as the Hallstatt Ice Caves, but are actually in Dachstein.
You can find the Dachstein Ice Caves and the Five Finger look out in the same place but since we visited in the Austrian winter, we just hung out on the mountain top with all the snow. This is our favourite Hallstatt travel vlog.

Walking out onto the 5 Fingers at Krippenstein, Austria
Just a short video of me walking out onto the fabled 5 fingers. You reach this spot after taking two cable cars from the Dachsteinbahn and then a 15 minute walk up and then down hill to the 5 fingers.

Dachstein are among the greatest wonders of the Earth. The Five Finger is a viewing platform that will let you soar above the clouds. It was also know as the Worlds Heritage's View Point and considered as the Top attraction in the Krippenstein Region.
It was named 5 Finger because of its Hand-like shape Deck. Each finger is approximately 4 x 1 m long in size.
The Five fingers Viewing Platform is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car station.
