Maui vacation August 2015
We left Boston and Phoenix for the cool sands of Maui, Hawaii. We stayed at the Westin Hotel on Ka'anapali Beach. We spent the first day poolside as we adjusted to the new time zone. One of our first activities was snorkeling and cliff diving at Black Rock. The snorkeling was quite good - we saw our first sea turtle. We spent a half day deep sea fishing, where we reeled in several tuna. Once the kids got the hang of snorkeling, we went to mile marker 14.0 with naturalists from The Ocean Project. Despite the poor visibility from the rain the day before, we saw several more sea turtles, along with other reef fish. Our catamaran trip aboard the Trilogy V to Molokini crater was a highlight. With more than 100 foot visibility, we saw moray eels and a variety of reef fish, including the famous state fish Humuhumunukunukuapuaa. We spare time in the afternoons, we battled the waves on Ka'anapali Beach, relaxed on Kapalua Bay, and went parasailing in front of our hotel. On the last day, we drove from Lahaina to Paia and spent a few hours on the Road to Hana. Throughout, we enjoyed great food from Star Noodle, Leoda's, Merriman's and my favorite - the Paia Fish Market. All footage was shot with a GoPro Hero 4 Silver.
