Erie*PA~The Micro Creeking Capitol~Trailer (whitewater kayaking)
Shale bottom gorges, drainage's under 40 square miles, sand/clay fast draining soil, and lake effect snow/rain make the 12 micro creeks in or within 15 minutes of Erie County PA a unique paddling experience. There are 75+ miles of navigable whitewater in these 15,000 year old glacial gorges final descents to Lake Erie. The shale bottom is key, allowing us to paddle creeks as small as 7 mi2. The smooth shale doesnt allow many rocks or trees to settle in, when they get brown most things gets pushed down, or to the side. Use good judgement, wood is still the #1 hazard here. There are no undercut rocks or boulder gardens to speak of. The mile creeks are named for distance from downtown Erie by early lazy surveyors. Song ~ Something A La Mode - GString. ********************** We are trying to raise money for an electronic USGS style gauge that would measure fourmile creek and transmit live flow data to a public website. The gauge would be donated to Penn State Behrend for further research and safety awareness. Fourmile runs through their property in Wintergreen Gorge and is the most common site for swift water rescues of hikers on any Erie county stream making the need for flow data more critical here than anywhere else. Also it would be nice to know when the fastest up, fastest down best paddle in town is running. There is not a single USGS gauge on any lake Erie tributary between Walnut Creek and Cattaraugus Creek, a distance of over 80 miles. This is the next step in promoting Whitewater paddling in Erie as a tourism attraction while simultaneously making rescue situations safer for firefighters. Knowledge is power. Donate Here:

Presque Isle State Park
Presque Isle State Park is a 3,112-acre Pennsylvania state park on an arching, sandy peninsula that juts into Lake Erie, 4 miles west of the city of Erie, in Millcreek Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The peninsula sweeps northeastward, surrounding Presque Isle Bay along the park's southern coast. It has 13 miles of roads, 21 miles of recreational trails, 13 beaches for swimming, and a marina. Popular activities at the park include swimming, boating, hiking, biking, and birdwatching.
The recorded history of Presque Isle begins with the Erielhonan, a Native American tribe who gave their name to Lake Erie, and includes French, British, and American forts, as well as serving as a base for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's fleet in the War of 1812. With the growing importance of shipping on Lake Erie in the 19th century, Presque Isle became home to several lighthouses and what became a United States Coast Guard station. In 1921 it became a state park, and as of 2007 it hosts over 4 million visitors per year, the most of any Pennsylvania state park.

Spring Wine -- 2006; Chaddsford Winery; Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania
Made from Vignoles, Vidal , and Seyval Blanc grapes, the flavors and aromas of this wine will range from apples to peaches to pineapples and even grapes. The 4% residual sugar doesn't overpower. There is an initial semi-sweet taste, but then it quickly dissipates to a crisp, yet very smooth tasting white wine. It makes an enjoyable wine suitable for any time of day. For its age as a white, nothing seems to have been lost in the flavor. It comes on both crisp and fresh, just like the season it's named after. Spring has come early for most of the country, so drink up!

One afternoon in August 2003, a pizza deliveryman named Brian Wells entered a PNC Bank in Erie, Pennsylvania, and calmly handed a note to a teller as he pulled down his t-shirt to reveal an explosive device around his neck. The note demanded $250,000 or the place was going to!!

He opened his briefcase just wide enough for her to see eight red cylinders with some wires attached to them.
5. VASTBERGA HELICOPTER ROBBERY
Swedish police were confronted with the country’s first-ever helicopter robbery in September 2009, when a stolen Bell 206, occupied by a crew of three or four bandits, landed atop a cash depot building. They raided the cash vaults and loaded an unknown amount of money into the helicopter.
4. THE PINK PANTHER ROBBERIES
Meet the Pink Panthers, the most successful gang of jewelry thieves in history. The international crime network contains somewhere between 200 and 250 members and has committed at least 380 armed robberies since 1999. Most of the Pink Panthers are from the Balkan states and their crimes span several countries, including Japan, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, France, the United States, Australia - the list goes on. Over the years, they’ve stolen gold and diamonds to the suspected tune of at least $500 million.

2. FRENCH BANK VAULT TUNNELERS
In Paris in 2010, a gang of thieves broke into a vault of a Credit Lyonnais bank branch, using pickaxes and flamethrowers to drill through the 32-inch-thick wall from a neighboring cellar. The bank’s security guard was held hostage for nine hours as they rummaged through 200 safe deposit boxes. Before fleeing, the bandits freed the guard and set fire to the vault in an effort to cover their tracks.
1. BANCO CENTRAL ROBBERY
This next heist sounds like something straight out of a movie and even earned a Guinness Book of World Records title. In 2005, a group of men posing as a landscaping company rented a property a few blocks from the Banco Central in Fortaleza, Brazil. They spent the next three months patiently digging a 256-foot-long underground tunnel from their office to the bank.

Philadelphia, sometimes known colloquially as Philly, is the largest city in the U.S. state and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the sixth-most populous U.S. city, with a 2017 census-estimated population of 1,580,863. Since 1854, the city has been coterminous with Philadelphia County, the most populous county in Pennsylvania and the urban core of the eighth-largest U.S. metropolitan statistical area, with over 6 million residents as of 2017. Philadelphia is also the economic and cultural anchor of the greater Delaware Valley, located along the lower Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers, within the Northeast megalopolis. The Delaware Valley's population of 7.2 million ranks it as the eighth-largest combined statistical area in the United States.William Penn, an English Quaker, founded the city in 1682 to serve as capital of the Pennsylvania Colony. Philadelphia played an instrumental role in the American Revolution as a meeting place for the Founding Fathers of the United States, who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 at the Second Continental Congress, and the Constitution at the Philadelphia Convention of 1787. Several other key events occurred in Philadelphia during the Revolutionary War including the First Continental Congress, the preservation of the Liberty Bell, the Battle of Germantown, and the Siege of Fort Mifflin. Philadelphia was one of the nation's capitals during the revolution, and served as temporary U.S. capital while Washington, D.C., was under construction. In the 19th century, Philadelphia became a major industrial center and a railroad hub. The city grew from an influx of European immigrants, most of whom came from Ireland, Italy and Germany—the three largest reported ancestry groups in the city as of 2015. In the early 20th century, Philadelphia became a prime destination for African Americans during the Great Migration after the Civil War, as well as Puerto Ricans. The city's population doubled from one million to two million people between 1890 and 1950.
The Philadelphia area's many universities and colleges make it a top study destination, as the city has evolved into an educational and economic hub. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Philadelphia area had a gross domestic product of US$445 billion in 2017, the eighth-largest metropolitan economy in the United States. Philadelphia is the center of economic activity in Pennsylvania and is home to five Fortune 1000 companies. The Philadelphia skyline is expanding, with a market of almost 81,900 commercial properties in 2016, including several nationally prominent skyscrapers. SUMMARY
=======
The Great Lakes (French: les Grands-Lacs), also called the Laurentian Great Lakes and the Great Lakes of North America, are a series of interconnected freshwater lakes located primarily in the upper mid-east region of North America, on the Canada–United States border, which connect to the Atlantic Ocean through the Saint Lawrence River. They consist of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario, although hydrologically, there are four lakes, Superior, Erie, Ontario, and Michigan-Huron.
The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth by total area, and second largest by total volume, containing 21% of the world's surface fresh water by volume. The total surface is 94,250 square miles (244,106 km2), and the total volume (measured at the low water datum) is 5,439 cubic miles (22,671 km3), slightly less than the volume of Lake Baikal (23,615 km³, 22–23% of the world's surface fresh water). Due to their sea-like characteristics (rolling waves, sustained winds, strong currents, great depths, and distant horizons) the five Great Lakes have also long been referred to as inland seas. Not counting Lake Michigan-Huron, Lake Superior is the second largest lake in the world by area, and the largest freshwater lake by area. Lake Michigan is the largest lake that is entirely within one country. The Great Lakes began to form at the end of the last glacial period around 14,000 years ago, as retreating ice sheets exposed the basins they had carved into the land which then filled with meltwater. The lakes have been a major source for transportation, migration, trade, and fishing, serving as a habitat to a large number of aquatic species in a region with much biodiversity.
The surrounding region is called the Great Lakes region, which includes the Great Lakes Megalopolis.
