Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
YANGON RELIGIOUS BUILDINGS TOUR - MYANMAR TRAVEL HIGHLIGHTS
When visiting Yangon, be sure to schedule a 2-3 hour guided walking tour of downtown Yangon. There are several guided tour operators and tour options. There are also self-guided walking routes you can find online. However, a walking tour led by someone familiar with the city includes a lot of context and insights that you might miss on your own. We enjoyed a religious buildings guided tour by the Yangon Heritage Trust.

Myanmar Food at Feel Restaurant - One of the BEST Restaurants in Yangon, Myanmar for Burmese Food!
Feel Myanmar is a well known restaurant in Yangon, Myanmar, that serves just about every type of Burmese / Myanmar food you can imagine. Read my full post here:
When I asked on a video about some suggestions for where to eat on my latest trip to Yangon, Myanmar, probably the most mentioned restaurant I was recommended was Feel Myanmar - it’s kind of like a Yangon institution, a well known restaurant that has everything type of food you can imagine - it’s local, and attracts a huge range of both Yangon residents and visitors. When I first arrived, I have to admit that I was a little on the disappointed side, mainly because I didn’t see the curries at first. Ying and I took a table outside, and the waiter handed us a menu - but I didn’t want a menu, I wanted the Burmese food curry buffet. So I asked the waiter, and he nodded, and led me into a room on the left side of the restaurant.
What I faced was one of the most spectacular displays of pre-made curry I’ve seen anywhere. There literally must have been hundreds of different prepared Myanmar dishes, all ready to be ordered, not to mention an army of staff waiting to serve you whatever you please. I have to admit that I went a little crazy, pointing to as many dishes as I could, without realizing how many dishes I had ordered - I was quite excited. The food all looks outstanding.
After ordering all the dishes, our waiter then served all the Burmese / Myanmar foods to our table. Probably my favorite dish of the meal was the mutton curry, a beautiful blend of softly curried mutton, with a marvelous blend of spices. It was a little oily, but the flavor was unbelievable. I also ordered some braised pork belly, which was cooked quite plain, but it was so tasty, mainly from the sweet onions it was cooked with. All the other dishes at Feel Myanmar restaurant were excellent too.
I think Feel Myanmar Restaurant in Yangon has found a great balance of variety, delicious food, and still keeps their cuisine quite local and authentic. One thing that really stands out is that they literally have hundreds of dishes for you to choose some - so believe me - you won’t run out of things to order. I think it’s a great introduction to eating Burmese / Myanmar food, when you’re in Yangon - it’s a place you should definitely eat at.
Feel Myanmar Food Restaurant, Yangon

Myanmar (Kalaw 1) Part 28
Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Kalaw:
Kalaw is a hill town in the Shan State of Burma. It is located in Kalaw Township in Taunggyi District.
The town was popular with the British during colonial rule. Kalaw is the main setting of the novel The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker.
The hill station is located at an elevation of 1320 metres, 50 km from the Inle lake.
Trekking
Kalaw has many trekking companies, most of the backpackers guesthouse will offer you a range of different treks, 1 day around Kalaw, 3 days 2 nights to Inle Lake, etc.
Before agreeing to a trek compare at least 3 different options and talk to other travelers. Normally they discount for a group of at least 4 people so it will be easy for you just join some travelers in Kalaw who want to do the same trek (most likely to Inle Lake).Guest Houses are pretty cheap because the business remains with the trekking. Don't feel bad if you don't take the trek that your guest-house is offering, they will certainly have clients from other parts too.The typically price of the trekking tour is 20$ person per day including meals in trekking trip, accommondation in trekking trip. The big luggage will be transport to Inle. The cost is 4$ for one luggage.
Ko Min is one of the excellent trekking guide in Kalaw. He can speak good english. He is knowledgeable and good service. From December 2011 I was told by the guide that Kalaw's area is malaria-free so you shouldn't worry. Another possibility is to do your own trekking by yourself (try to be accompanied by other people at least). The paths are not too though to carry your light luggage, but if it's heavy you can arrange with the trekking companies in Kalaw to send it to Inle Lake guesthouse by paying a small fee (3000 kiats at Dec 2011). If you can have some GPS, you can download/follow the trekking maps on openstreetmap.org uploaded by other trekkers.
Bus
Buses from Bagan leave at 7:30 in the morning arriving in Kalaw around 3pm approximately (K11,000). Same bus continues to Inle Lake (Nyaung Shwe town). Make sure to buy the ticket as soon as possible since it's always overcrowded and you don't want to get a spare seat on the aisle. They also have buses to Bagan and Mandalay.

ミャンマー仏像寄贈式典映像 日本ミャンマー友好交流協会 Japan Myanmar

-------English--------
In the three-thousand-year history of Myanmar, the largest-ever contribution has been taken place.
There used to be an economically difficult time for the Myanmar Buddhism and temples; some temples had no choice but to let go of their Buddha statues that were valuable as national treasures, and those statues were in danger of being drained off to the outside of the country of Myanmar.
Mr. Katsuyuki Kumano, Chairman of Japan Myanmar Cross Link Association, felt distress at this matter that even though more than 80% of the Myanmar nationality was Buddhist, the people might lose a large amount of Buddha statues with high cultural values, in which they had the strength of their heart. Given this factor, Chairman Kumano, started to collect some of those Buddha statues that were in danger of being drained off by use of his own funds to protect; since then, the valuable Buddha statues that were once drained off were sent to him by temples from various locations.
Chairman Kumano purchased Buddha statues for more than 6 years for protecting them; as a result, he collected in excess of 300 Buddha statues with high cultural values and worth as national treasures.
October 18th, 2012
All of those 300 Buddha statues were donated to AungZabutawya Temple located in Mawbi Township of Yangon city in Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
This video is a very rare footage of that Monseigneur Panaunta was thanking Chairman Kumano and preaching to the audience at the presentation ceremony for the 300 Buddha statues, donated to the AungZabutawya Temple.
The news of the presentation ceremony attracted a number of diligent Buddhists to attend the ceremony.
This event was reported by the Myanmar state-run broadcast (MNTV): on October 19th, it was broadcasted as the lead story of a news program with special topic, The Largest-ever Contribution in the Three-thousand-year History of Myanmar, at 7 o'clock night, and on a thirty-minute special program.
Nowadays, accompanied by the Myanmar's democratization, there is a talk of investment to Myanmar by foreign countries.
Myanmar is becoming affluent; at the same time, it can be our, Japanese's, pride that there is a Japanese man (Kumano Katsuyuki, Chairman of Japan Myanmar Cross Link Association), who holds up the spirit of the Myanmarese citizen as well as historically and culturally valuable Buddhist arts and heritages in Myanmar.

Travellers adventure on local Rakhine state transport, Gwa to Thandwe by lorry
Travelling in Myanmar from Gwa to Thandwe in the Rakhine state on our way to Ngapali beach following the beautiful coastline and driving through nice fishing villages. The 78 mile long journey took us 8 hours to complete, averaging less than 10mph.
We stopped on the way to load up the truck with bags of rice which took a good 40 min to complete. While the truck was being loaded some friendly monks invited us into their temple for food, drinks and cigarettes.
