Sydney Australia, is a modern city on a coastline with ancient roots. Sydney is a symbol around the world for it's fusion of culture, modernity, and its embracing of the outdoors and wild spaces. Sydney is unique in that you can at one moment be in the heart of downtown, and within in a short drive or ferry ride be in the thick of the Australian bush. There are over 200 National Parks within Sydney and New South Wales. It's coastal waters teem with marine wildlife, some of which can be found nowhere else on earth.
Sydney is so unique in that there's a fusion of parks and wild spaces, with the modern conveniences that make living wonderful. The harbor water is clean, and the beaches pristine. The harbor itself is just stunning, with the iconic Sydney Opera house and the harbor bridge. Everywhere you turn there's something to see and do.
One of the hardest parts of coming to Australia was getting used to the time difference. Our flights totaled about 18 hours. What makes it hard, is that you not only cross the equator, which means the seasons are flipped, but you cross the international date line. This means that today in the USA, is already tomorrow in Australia.
We struggled the first few nights to even stay up till 8PM, but by the end of our trip we had adjusted pretty well. Coming back we actually left Australia at 9:30 AM on Wednesday and Arrived at 9:15 AM on Wednesday in the US. That's right, we went back in time!
So what is there to do in Sydney? Well there's the obvious stuff for starters, the Sydney Opera house, Museums, Parks, the Harbor Bridge. There are lots of places to shop if your into that sort of thing, and places to eat. Of course you have all the fantastic beaches along the coast, which even in the fall when we went were full of active swimmers, surfers, and beach goers. We especially enjoyed snorkeling in some of the best spots around Sydney, such as Shelly Beach and Gordons Bay. One of the days we were there we went to the world famous Taronga Zoo, which to be honest was fantastic. It's the best zoo I've ever been to, and we've been to many of them.
Australia sometimes gets a bad wrap for being the place where all the animals want to kill you. Spiders, snakes, sharks, maybe even large kangaroos! Although it is true that there are lots of highly venomous, large, and potentially scary animals in Australia, sometimes those nature documentaries make it look way scarier than it really is.
Let's go over the statistics for a second shall we. First off...more people are killed in the United States by animals than in Australia. Second of all the animal that kills the most people in Australia is not a snake, spider, or jellyfish, but horses. You are more likely to fall off a horse and die than get attacked by a shark. So if you are scared to come to Australia because you've heard horror stories of venomous creatures, don't be. They are there, but they want to be left alone, just as much as you want to leave them alone. With that said, there is plenty of friendly wildlife in and around Sydney for animal lovers.
We visited several of the parks in the city to bird watch. Australia is home to 56 different species of parrots. Not all of them live in Sydney, but there are lots here, including colorful Lorikeets, Cockatoos, Corellas, and more. Back in the states, these are birds we would have as pets, that you'd see in pets stores, and here they are eating in the park, landing on your window sill!
The parks in the city are havens for these birds. Parks like the Royal botanical Gardens, which are amazing by the way! As well as the massive Centennial park. Centennial Park also has a humongous colony of flying foxes. Bats the size of house cats live right here in the city! These bats are an important part of the ecosystem here in Australia helping to pollinate the Eucalyptus trees which they visit to drink the nectar from their flowers. They also eat fruit, which can be a point of conflict for fruit tree growers. It can be a little startling at first to see bats with wing spans up to a meter wide flying over head, but they pose no threat to people. People actually pose more threats to them. Flying foxes in Australia have a vulnerable conservation status. Sydney has several areas that colonies of the bats come to roost. The one we visited in Centennial Park was absolutely massive.
We absolutely love Sydney! This video really only touched on a few of the things that make this place special. I've focused mostly on the wildlife, because that's what I Love, but Sydney has something for everyone. It is definitely a place we hope to come back to. If you ever get an opportunity, we highly recommend it!

In front of a sold-out crowd at Sydney’s Allphones Arena and a massive global audience online, Above & Beyond (a.k.a. Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki) celebrated the 150th episode of their Group Therapy radio show in style, demonstrating again why they’re one of the most in-demand acts in electronic music.
Highlights from the night included the exclusive first play of a brand new OceanLab single, Above & Beyond’s much-loved side project with Justine Suissa, along with an announcement that Above & Beyond Acoustic will return to some of the world’s most iconic venues in 2016. Fans can sign up for more info about the upcoming ‘Acoustic’ album and tour at:
With tickets selling out months in advance and in record time, attendees travelled from all four corners of the globe for ABGT150 and lined up early to catch opening sets from Anjunadeep’s fastest rising star Lane 8 and Anjunabeats’ progressive favourite Grum, before staying late for an epic closing set from Anjunabeats’ hottest talent ilan Bluestone. The frenzy of online chatter from fans in the arena and from everyone watching at home ensured that #ABGT150 reached the number one trending topic on Twitter, just as #ABGT100 had done from New York’s Madison Square Garden in 2014.
Jono, Tony and Paavo also revealed a swathe of new material from their renowned Anjunabeats imprint’s heaviest hitters, including exclusives from Andrew Bayer, Jason Ross and Oliver Smith. Some of the music premiered at the show will appear on Above & Beyond’s forthcoming Anjunabeats Volume 12 compilation, due later this year.
Finally there was the news that Above & Beyond’s hometown gig at London’s Wembley Arena is now sold out. With all proceeds going to the band’s ‘Little Something Charitable Fund’ in memory of Jono’s late sister Charlotte and in aid of maternal mental health, UK fans can look forward to a truly special evening on November 13th.
All the sets from the night are available to stream now via

Middle Kids are an alternative indie rock band from Sydney, Australia led by lead singer/guitarist Hannah Joy.
Live session at The Sydney Opera House (The Playhouse).

Lyrics:
Bought It
My friend I need a little help
To fend the darkness at the end
Of all this, I thought that I had fought it
But like clockwork it seems to keep on coming
Oh dear, you saw me on a night when I was pissed
And I tried to act alright, smooth talking
I'm not sure you bought it
So I'm crawling to the nearest taxi
So, let it out
I need a little something and I can't seem to get it
Now, love, help me now
I got a lot of questions and I can't seem to get them out
Let's pretend that we had never met
So then it's fair when we are getting it on Sunday
I know that that's a fun day
To remember 'til I see you next, yeah
So, let it out
I need a little something and I can't seem to get it
Now, love, help me now
I got a lot of questions and I can't seem to get them out
This must be the memory
Where you took that photograph of me
Don't act so embarrassed
We all do dumb thing's when we're lonely
You know my heart deeply
But we don't talk about that, do we?
And hold your wife like a silence
So, let it out
I need a little something and I can't seem to get it
Now, love, help me now
I got a lot of questions and I can't seem to get them out
So, let it out
I need a little something and I can't seem to get it
Now, love, help me now
I got a lot of questions and I can't seem to get them
I can't seem to get them
I can't seem to get them
I can't seem to get them out

Plane Landings captured with a Super-Tele Zoom Lens - Sydney Airport Australia
For those who have a passion for aircraft, here is a video of random planes landing at Sydney Airport.
I was testing out the zoom capabilities of the Canon HJ18ex28b EFP Broadcast Lens.
The lens can zoom up to 1008mm with the extender and is very sharp, even at the long end.
This very long zoom length can help identify aircraft from around 4 km away.
There is no extreme weather in video, just great camera work and tracking using broadcast equipment.
For the technical people, the lens was connected to a Sony PDW-F800 XDCAM Camera shooting in 422/50mbs.
Something a little different from the Severe Weather & News.

Sydney 4wd adventure show 2018 ***VLOG 10***
Something a little different for this Vlog!!
This time I head to the Sydney 4wd and Adventure show 2018 at Eastern Creek
I picked up Corey and met up with Jordan, Jeremy, Aiden, Lewy and Bonnie for the day.
This is the first time I've been to the Sydney show and definatly won't be the last. With heaps to see and loads of new cool products I was really impressed with it.
Whilst walking around I met a heap of legends that have been following my AZVENTURES and was stoked to have a chat with everyone, and all the kind words everyone had to say about my hard work makes it all worth it!!!
Hopefully you legends like what I've put together of my day and ill be doing a few more videos like this of other shows around Australia.
Please leave some feedback and comments below if you want to see anything in the future videos and anything I can improve on for your viewing pleasure!!!
Also a huge shoutout to Karen Tiedtke for the help on the day!!

Sydney's MOST HAUNTED HOTEL | Something WEIRD is in This Room!
Welcome to Room number 8! The most haunted room inside one of Australia's most haunted hotels. The Russell Hotel dates back to 1887 and was built on top of the site of a former hospital, it has also been the scene of multiple murders, leading many to believe it is haunted. I investigated the hotel to see if there are truly ghosts residing there, my findings were interesting! Read more:

NANOWRIMO 2018 DAYS 5-9: Finding Balance + Springtime in Sydney ???? (a vlog)
Dear writers/warriors,
How are we all doing as we inch towards the halfway point of NaNoWriMo? I am not (yet) discouraged that I have fallen behind, but rather amazed that I have written a little something every day since the start of the month - even on days when I'm in pain or feeling tired! Those would definitely usually be rest days/writing-free days. Then again, we're only ten days in; there's still two-thirds of the way left to go, and I'm also thinking how on earth am I going to survive this month?!!!!! ARGGHHHHHHHH. My mood oscillates wildly between zen and utter despair from hour to hour.
These last few days, I have also struggled to find a good work-life balance. I've been unwell all winter long, and now that the weather is warming up and my symptoms are easing up, I'm longing to be out and about and enjoying the sunshine. According to my daily word count tracker, however, I am definitely way less productive when I write in coffeeshops because getting ready, the commute there and back again, being out in public spaces, is all very draining and daunting to someone with chronic illness (it's okay if you find this difficult to believe; I know I would have found it hard to wrap my head around this as well before I got sick). Nevertheless, leaving the house once or twice a week - as exhausting as it can be - is doing wonders for my mental health, after being cooped up/bedridden for so long over the winter.
NaNoWriMo has also meant that my PhD work and Novel #1 manuscript are being sadly neglected, which is not good at all, because those two things should probably be more of a priority to me right now than the first draft of my second novel. It's making me question why I even decided to do NaNoWriMo in the first place (answer: because I thought writing 1,667 words a day was a totally achievable goal).
Despite all these setbacks and worries, I am doing my utmost to enjoy this month of crazy, intense writing sprints and lovely spring weather. Hoping you are all settling into a work-life-play balance that works for you as the month progresses :)
Until next time! x

Sydney Australia⎜Blue Mountains⎜2018
Be one with mother nature and explore the heart of the enchanting Blue Mountains away from the concrete jungle of Sydney.
Few hours drive away from the city centre, transport yourself in a different realm and discover one of the world's picturesque mountain range. Ride the steepest incline railway in the world, dive into the forest of Blue Mountains National Park, see the world in a different perspective through the forest skyway, and go up and down the mountains in a cable car.
A little something about this place:
The Blue Mountains get their name from the natural blue haze created by vast eucalyptus forests in this World Heritage area. Tiny droplets of oil released from the trees mix with water vapour and sunlight to produce the distinctive colour.
Is it really blue? At first, my eyes could not convince my brain to think thats its really blue, but after spending hours of tiny-winsy-yeah-it-is-really-blue kind of thinking, I can now say that its really blue and not a different shade of gray.
Scenic Work Blue Mountains Australia is a must for your Aussie experience. Visit there website for more information.
