Nannup Western Australia the Great Escape - Travel Vlog
We went on a road trip to Nannup Western Australia for a mini winter getaway! It was great to be surrounded by nature, a total retreat unplugged and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We almost couldn’t leave, no really, we were actually trapped by the remnants of a storm. It was quite the adventure. I recommend visiting Nannup in the summer, I think it would be…more enjoyable then. Enjoy ^_^

Michael J, Toni and Deon – at John Curtin College of the Arts – Western Australia
Whilst the target audience of the Michael J School Concerts is aimed at school students/young adults studying bahasa Indonesia, the band also has had the opportunity to work for four days at the end of their tour, with music students in Years 7-9 at John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA).
During this time, Michael, Tony and Deon taught JCCA students some traditional Indonesian songs, music and accompanying dances including the Poco-Poco in this video clip, which is a popular line dance originally from the Minahasa people in Sulawesi, but now known by young and old across the Indonesian archipelago.
The students eagerly and successfully participated in vocal, percussion and dance sessions, working with Michael J, Toni and Deon for several lessons before participating in a lunchtime concert performance. The students also enjoyed jamming with the band on a variety of songs during the lessons and finished the program with a short but fun and energetic lunchtime concert which was amazing and very well received by the audience of students and staff.

Koomal Dreaming
For over 50,000 years, the Wadandi and Bibbulman people of the Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River areas of Australia’s south-west have walked this ancient land.
Together with other Aboriginal groups from an area that stretches from Kalbarri to Esperance, they are also known as Noongar. The Noongar culture is as rich and varied as the countryside itself, and their knowledge of the environment is incredible and fascinating.
Koomal Dreaming is your opportunity to follow in their footsteps and experience Wadandi and Bibbulman country through their eyes.
Wadandi custodian Josh “Koomal” Whiteland will introduce you to the world’s oldest living culture with his authentic, personal interpretation.
Be moved by the skill and intensity of Josh’s didgeridoo playing and fire-making, taste native foods, discover bush medicine and meet the animals, plants and Dreaming spirits that have enriched the lives of Wadandi and Bibbulman people since time began.
Book a tour with Josh Whiteland here or visit sightseeingpassaustralia.com for more details on our cultural tours in Margaret River.
Noongar Language and Culture | CurtinX on edX
Take this course for free on edx.org:
Learn about the Noongar people of Western Australia, their culture and their language.
More Information:
Noongar people are the original inhabitants of the vast geographical area in the south-western corner of Western Australia. They have been there for over 45,000 years. Through the millennia, ancient wisdom and culture have guided the people through their interactions with the land, nature, and with one another.
In 1826, the Noongar land was first colonised by the British. What unfolded in the years that followed was catastrophic for Noongar people; the impacts of which are still seen and felt today.
Despite this dark history, Noongar culture has survived. Today, Noongar people are passionate about preserving their cultural knowledge while embracing the changes that come with living in a contemporary society.
This course provides an introduction to Noongar culture and language. Learners will be taken on a journey through Noongar boodja (Noongar country). They'll join Noongar guides as they share knowledge and personal experiences of history, land, and culture.
Learners will be introduced to conversational Noongar - learning words and phrases that can be used in simple dialogue.
We hope this course enhances cultural understanding and respect for the Noongar people - and Aboriginal Australians, as a whole - more broadly.

DJILBA August / September
Pronounced: Jill-bah. The second part of winter, usually the wettest and coldest time of the year, with clear ice-cold periods. Native potatoes were harvested and kangaroos, possums and emus hunted. Skins were tanned and prepared as clothing and bedding, as well as being made into carry bags for food, medicine and tools. Hunting gear was also prepared. A time of plentiful food.

Sand Tracks
Sand Tracks is the highly regarded remote Indigenous contemporary music touring program co-presented by Country Arts WA and Act-Belong-Commit.
Sand Tracks tours across state borders, from Alice Springs through the Anangu, Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and Ngaanyatjarra lands. The tour is designed to profile and further develop Aboriginal musicians, as well as partner with remote communities to build remote Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences and community capacity by touring Indigenous bands. Residents of the central desert choose the profile band they wish to see perform in their community.
