Domino's Pizza A. Venue Mall Makati Avenue Manila Philippines by HourPhilippines.com
Dominos Pizza A. Venue Mall Makati Avenue Manila Philippines. Domino’s Pizza the U.S. pizza delivery pioneer founded in 1960 from Ann Arbor, Michigan is now officially back in the Philippines. Listed on the NYSE and having retail sales of $US 6.2 Billion in 2010, they must be doing something right with their signature pizzas in the 69 markets worldwide that they operate in. Based on their press release the new master franchisee in the Philippines is a partnership formed by the Domino’s Pizza master franchisee for South Korea, Goldilocks Bakery and a minority operating partner. This partnership leverages the experience of a successful Domino’s master franchisee, a highly successful family-owned Philippine bakery chain with more than 300 stores and a partner who is a seasoned operator in the pizza business.
Mr. Tong Hong, the President and CEO of Domino’s Pizza Philippines initially setup two branches in Makati and Pasig and is targeting 30 branches in the very near future. The new Domino’s is more authentic than the previous franchise that was in the Philippines in the 1990’s as they use real imported mozzarella instead of local processed cheese! The order counter is an exact replica of a branch in the U.S. with their red and blue domino theme, open kitchen, and highly efficient electronic order system. After reviewing their menu, we ordered their thin crust specialty pizzas which are the Potato and Hawaiian pizzas.
The potato pizza is a thin crust pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, onions, sweet corn, mushrooms, potato wedges, bacon and mayonnaise. This pizza to us defines Domino’s Pizza and with each bite we could not help but crave for more of this carb on carb heaven. The potato wedges were crusty and insanely delicious with the bacon and mayonnaise. We just didn’t know what to do with the corn, it seemed out of place, but the additional fiber was soon adapted to.
Make sure to order the Domino’s thin crust as this is imported from the U.S. and even thinner than Yellow Cab’s Dear Darla. What is surprising is that even though it is so thin, it still manages to be firm, crispy and support all the toppings on the pizza! The regular hand tossed dough however is made locally by Goldilocks, has anybody tried this?
We had our pizza dine in, but if you order delivery it will be encapsulated within their patented Heat Wave Delivery bag. Mr. Tong Hong has explained that “Once inserted into a special bag, this technology creates a portable oven that minimizes heat loss during delivery. The outer material of the bag is made with water-repellent nylon, and the interior is lined with a special material called Thinsulate, which eliminates moisture and keeps the pizza both hot and fresh,”
We hope that Domino’s brings in their Wisconsin 6 Cheese Pizza and eventually also imports some buffalo mozzarella so that their Margherita pizza will be served as displayed on their marketing pictures. If you are looking to try Domino’s Pizza, we would highly recommend their Potato Pizza as it is the most unique pizza that they offer and worth coming back for. How did you like Domino’s Pizza? :-)
