Oxford Youths Climate Strike today 15 March 2019
Very proud of our Oxford youth today: fantastic turnout. To get a sense of the scale of the climate strike march I went up to the top of St Mary's Tower and caught them coming up the Cornmarket. Apologies for the sound quality: was blowing a gale up there and I was a standing by Ruby's very proud and very vocal mum :)

2017 Selden Society inaugural Lord Atkin lecture by the Hon Chief Justice Susan Kiefel AC
An annual Lord Atkin Lecture has been introduced this year to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lord Atkin – one of the common law’s most influential judges.
During his judicial career Atkin was not only respected as a technically proficient lawyer but admired for his insight and judgment. It was this combination of qualities that produced a number of judgments of lasting importance and global influence.
The Hon Susan Kiefel AC was appointed Chief Justice of Australia in January 2017. At the time of her appointment she had been a judge of the High Court since September 2007 and had previously served as a judge of the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Queensland.
Chief Justice Kiefel was admitted to the Queensland Bar in 1975 and, in 1987, was the first woman in Queensland to be appointed Queen’s Counsel.

Bell Ringers at St Wynwallow Church
Suddenly the bell tower came to life with this charmingly beautiful sound. I believe that between the first and last section of this video there were two changes in bell ringer teams. It left me bemused, thrilled, and uplifted.
Six bells, six cascading tones, producing a moment of timelessness...

In The Bleak Midwinter : Choir of Kings College, Cambridge
Listen to King's College Choir, free, on their website:
The choir of Kings College Chapel, Cambridge sing the lovely Christmas carol, In The Bleak Midwinter. The wonderful words of Christina Georgina Rossetti are sung to a beautiful setting by Gustav Holst.
1. In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.
2. Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him
Nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away
When He comes to reign:
In the bleak mid-winter
A stable-place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty,
Jesus Christ.
3. Enough for Him, whom cherubim
Worship night and day,
A breast full of milk
And a manger full of hay;
Enough for Him, whom angels
Fall down before,
The ox and ass and camel
Which adore.
4. Angels and archangels
May have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim
Thronged the air,
But only His mother
In her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the Beloved
With a kiss.
5. What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man
I would do my part,
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.
