Road to 150: Best Things To Do In British Columbia
In this video, we share some of the best things to do in British Columbia, including Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Kelowna, and more!
Welcome to British Columbia!
Canada's westernmost province is packed with jaw-dropping scenery and incredible adventures. Home to some of Canada's most varied landscapes, ranging from desert and ocean to mountains and forest, there truly is something for everyone in British Columbia.
We explored the BC from Sept 6 - Sept 28, 2017.
Canada's Road to 150 is a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

Dylan's Canadian Adventure Part 6 - Grouse Mountain - Act II - The Peak
Act I:
A couple of Safeway work colleagues and myself went for a hike up one of Vancouver's local mountains. We started with the Grouse Grind; an extremely steep and mountainous trail that climbs 853 metres over a distance of 2.9 kilometres (to quote wikipedia). We had a coffee at the top followed by a stroll, during which we met bears and reindeer. Both were a first for me. Finally we returned to the mountain base via the aerial tramway. Epic!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Our CANADA ROAD TRIP to VANCOUVER ISLAND, British Columbia Starts NOW!
Today we are kicking off a trip that we’ve been wanting to do for a very long time: a road trip across the length of Vancouver Island! Sam grew up on the West Coast but moved away when he went to university, and I had never been there, so it was high time we both visited. To make things even more special, when our dads heard we were travelling to Vancouver Island, they both decided to come along, so we embarked on this road trip as a gang of 4! This is the first episode of our Vancouver Island road trip and it was mostly a travel day. We flew from Toronto to Vancouver to Victoria, and then picked up a rental car at the airport. We had to drive up to Mount Washington, which would act as our base for the first few days, but on the way up there we also stopped in the town of Chemainus, which is known for its many murals, and in Cathedral Grove, where we saw Douglas-fir trees that are over 800 years old! It was a great first day on the island. More to come soon! You can view the full list of all the places we visited here:

Our CANADA ROAD TRIP to VANCOUVER ISLAND, British Columbia Starts NOW!
Come join us for an epic road trip to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada where partner with Trover to cover the island from the south all the way up to the north. Unlike most Vancouver Island road trips and travel series which focus on the triangle of Vancouver, Nanaimo and Tofino, we branch off and visit lesser-known places such as Gold River, Port Alice and Malcolm Island just to name a few.
Our trip to Vancouver Island starts off with a flight from Toronto to Vancouver, followed by the shortest flight of our lives from Vancouver to Victoria. From Victoria, we head to our base of Mount Washington in the central part of the island, where highlights include spotting black bears, hiking in Mount Washington and visiting vineyards in Comox.
Our journey then continues to Gold River, Sam's hometown, where we board the Uchuck III en route to Friendly Cove. We also go to nearby Campbell River where we walk along a beautiful fishing dock, tour a hatchery and come across a black bear, and hike in Elk Falls which was our favourite hike on this entire journey.
Heading to northern Vancouver Island, we base ourselves in Port Alice and visit the nearby towns of Port McNeill, Port Hardy and Telegraph Cove. For separate day trips, we take the ferry to Malcolm Island where we visit the former Finnish Community of Sointula and take another ferry to Alert Bay where we have the opportunity to appreciate First Nations totem poles, artwork and museums.
Our Vancouver Island road trip concludes with visits to Parksville, Nanaimo and Victoria. Overall, it was one of the best road trips we've ever done focusing mostly on nature, outdoor adventure, wildlife spotting and visiting off-the-beaten-path villages and communities that have a lot to offer but aren't that well known.
If you are thinking of doing a Canada road trip, Vancouver Island should be at the top of your list. For more information and tips on all the places we visited on Vancouver Island, you can check out this Trover list:

GROUSE MOUNTAIN | Gondola | Bears | ZipLine & More! | Vancouver Sights (GoShine)
A super fun summer day trip to Grouse Mountain up the Gondola to see the Bears, ZipLine, Lumberjack show and much more as part of the Vancouver Sights travel series!
This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Vancouver, and for good reason. The view from the ride up the Gondola is breathtaking, and there's a lot to see at the top. The Bears, Grinder and Coola is a highlight, but there's also live shows like the Lumberjack and Birds in Motion shows. We rode right to the top on the Ski Lifts to see the view from the Eye of the Wind and caught a hang glider taking off. A great, fun packed, day out for the whole family.
Have fun and Go Shine!
Some of the things we saw this trip:
- Gondola
- Bears
- Zip Line
- Ski Lift
- Hang gliding
- Lumberjack Show

Mineral Creek Mines near Port Alberni BC
Part 2 of three shows we did on Vancouver island. To get to the historic abandoned mines we travel 2 KM through a modern mine tunnel.
A 2-kilometre exploration tunnel was completed in March 1989. The tunnel was constructed to allow access to the Mineral Creek and Linda zones and for use as a drilling platform. The highest assay as a result of 1988 drilling in the tunnel on the Mineral Creek zone was 19.78 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 18936). Anomalous gold values were found to be associated with quartz veins in argillaceous cherts and visible gold was observed.
The three main gold-bearing quartz veins that were developed from the old workings are, from west to east, the Mac (called the Dunsmuir to the north), the Belcher and the Waterfall. The veins follow well-developed shear zones on the east side of Mineral Creek. They are lens-shaped and consist of two generations of quartz. Pyrite, arsenopyrite and minor sphalerite are disseminated in the veins and free gold has also been reported.
The Mac vein, the main working, was traced for 75 metres by several opencuts and two adits. The vein averages 0.14 metre in width, ranging from 0.07 to 0.45 metre. The vein strikes northeast in the south part and north in the north part, dipping between 40 to 55 degrees. Sixty three samples taken over the length of the vein averaged 126.5 grams per tonne gold over 15 centimetres (Assessment Report 14483).
The Belcher vein is exposed in several opencuts and one adit over 290 metres. It strikes north, dips 40 to 45 degrees and is up to 1.2 metres wide, averaging 0.20 metres. Sampling in 1973 resulted in assays from 0.1 to 9.95 grams per tonne gold and from 2.1 to 3.4 grams per tonnes silver over 1.5 metre lengths (Assessment Report 14483).
The Waterfall vein is exposed by a few trenches over 35 metres, strikes north and dips about 65 degrees east. Widths range from 0.08 to 0.75 metre. Sample values were generally low except for one which assayed 404 grams per tonne gold over 0.15 metres (Assessment
Inferred and indicated geological reserves in three zones are 471,956 tonnes grading 6.23 grams per tonne gold (Westmin Resources Ltd. 1990 Annual Report).
From 2006 through 2008, Bitterroot Resources Ltd. drilled 60 holes in the Linda area, most targeted to test the Linda Zone (Ember Vein). The vein's thickness ranges from a few centimetres to 1.3 metres and in places it splits into two or three veins. The gold grades vary from trace up to 467.0 grams per tonne gold and the highest grades are often accompanied by visible gold grains. One of the better intercepts, from MC2009-E57, returned a 4.4 metre wide vein/breccia interval of the Ember Zone averaging 75.35 grams per tonne gold, however, this grade was enhanced by two relatively narrow intervals of 0.4 metre and 0.6 metre that both assayed greater than 200 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 32204).
During drilling of the Ember vein another quartz vein (HW Zone) was intersected, approximately 30 metres in the hanging wall, averaging approximately 0.5 metre in thickness. An intersection of the HW vein in hole MC2009-E53 returned a 0.55 metre interval grading 137.5 grams per tonne gold and was noted to contain local visible gold. Another interval, possibly from the HW vein, returned high-grade silver mineralization, up to 1,170 grams per tonne silver over 0.15 metre, in hole MC2009-E35 (Assessment Report 32204).

A look at the Canadian Wilderness Preservation Act of 1964. Explore the beautiful countryside and stunning wildlife that Canada has to offer, whilst maintaining an understanding of how the Canadian government has acted in order to save and preserve it. With the help of the Act this dramatic wilderness remains one of the most breath-taking in the World today.

Canada is a country in North America consisting of 10 provinces and 3 territories. Located in the northern part of the continent, it extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean. At 9.98 million square kilometres in total, Canada is the world's second-largest country by total area, and its common border with the United States is the world's longest land border shared by the same two countries.
The land that is now Canada has been inhabited for millennia by various Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French colonies were established on the region's Atlantic coast. As a consequence of various conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost North American territories until left in the late 18th century with what mostly comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867 three colonies joined to form the autonomous federal dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the new self-governing dominion. In 1931 Britain granted Canada full independence in most matters with the Statute of Westminster 1931. The last ties were dissolved in 1982 with the Canada Act 1982.
Canada lies within the fifteen terrestrial and five marine ecozones. The largest marine ecozone is the Arctic Archipelago whereas the terrestrial ecozone is the Boreal Shield. The main biomes of Canada are Tundra, Boreal forest, Mixed forest, broadleaf forest, Prairies, Rocky Mountains, and Temperate coniferous forests which hosts significant biodiversity.
In recent decades, human encroachment has posed a threat to Canada's wildlife; in response National Wildlife Areas (NWAs) are set aside under the Canada Wildlife Act. There are National Parks, National Wildlife Areas, as well as Migratory Bird Sanctuaries. National parks protect natural regions in Canada. NWAs conserve habitats for species at risk. Migratory bird sanctuaries protect the breeding grounds of migratory birds during the nesting season.

“Germany’s biggest popstar and world-renowned DJ goes by the name of Robin Schulz.” – Stern
“He has the Midas touch, literally!” – BILD
Black sunglasses, a baseball cap flipped backwards and his decks: These visual trademarks simultaneously prove to be his most valuable assets. Those and his keen sense for superhits that generate 9-digit streams and have enabled him to move crowds across the globe during the past two years. The young man from Lower Saxony is actually more the reserved type, who would much rather stand behind his decks and let his music do the talking. Robin Schulz: A picture perfect career. Making his way from ‘local secret’ to the nation’s ‘next big thing’ and finally to being an internationally acclaimed megastar. At age 29, the producer and DJ has already established himself as the most successful German club act of the past decades.
Robin Schulz began playing smaller clubs as a DJ somewhere in rural Lower Saxony. Meanwhile, he has travelled the world: Osnabrück, New York, Tokyo. And, more importantly, the world knows him. His 2014 breakthrough single, the multi-Platinum, chart-topping remix of “Waves (feat. Mr. Probz)” was a first sign of things to come. Though not even Schulz himself could have predicted the incredible snowball effect that was to ensue as well as the extent of his current success. 2014 marked the start of a fairytale summer that knew just one name: Robin Schulz. His internationally Gold- and Platinum-certified follow-up single “Prayer In C (feat. Lilly Wood & The Prick)” went on to become a global hit and write history.
Schulz also became the first-ever German artist to reach the #1 spot of the global Shazam charts, breaking several national records along the way as he positioned himself atop the German Singles, Airplay, iTunes, Amazon MP3, Dance, Shazam, Streaming and Spotify charts at the same time. “Prayer In C” has meanwhile become the most successful hit by a German artist ever and was named the unofficial “Summer Hit of 2014”. Rightfully so.
Building on this success, Schulz went on to release his now Platinum-certified debut album “Prayer” in the fall of 2014, along with the hit single “Sun Goes Down (feat. Jasmine Thompson)”. In 2015 Robin Schulz won the German ECHO Award as “Best Dance National”, while his sophomore album “SUGAR” was awarded Gold status in his native Germany and the eponymous single even struck triple Gold! In early 2016 Schulz won two more ECHO Awards as “Best Dance National” and “Internationally Most Successful German Act”. Over the past two years, no other act delivered as many #1 hits in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as Robin Schulz.
All these experiences have left their indelible mark on his new album “SUGAR”. Thousands of new experiences, thousands of impressions and thousands of inspiring moments, which Schulz has now channeled into 15 new songs. On “SUGAR”, Robin Schulz performs a uniquely delicate balancing act between electronic and pop music. Robin Schulz has created his very own, genre-transcending signature sound of melodic deep house with organic instrumentation. Even though Schulz doesn’t necessarily see himself as the melancholy type of guy. “SUGAR” is Schulz taking the next step and delivering his own brand of sweetness to the dancefloor. While his debut “Prayer” almost exclusively featured various remakes of songs by other artists, “SUGAR” is composed of his own productions. Call it Schulz uncut.
When asked, what it is he is most proud of, Robin Schulz responds: “I’m proud to still have my friends around and of being able to show that in music, everything is possible. There is still a lot to achieve, many roads to travel and goals to be pursued. As long as you keep on having fun and working hard, successes will keep on coming.”
