Impressions of Oman - Oman tours - Afaq tourism
The relics of one thousand forts and watchtowers stand as sentinels over Oman’s now peaceful landscape. While many have been left in ruins, a great number have been beautifully restored to their former glory and are open for visitors to explore. Nizwa Fort, perhaps Oman’s most famous heritage landmark, is a great example of this. Surrounded by the equally alluring Nizwa Souk, this impressive monument to Omani architecture features mazes of passageways linking rooms of museum displays beneath its grand central tower.

A Country Full Of History, Wildlife and Traditions - Oman tours - Afaq Tourism
The Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Tourism is committed to developing a range of quality tourism products that not only promote cultural integrity and environmental protection but that also lead to a diverse and sustainable tourism industry both at home in the Sultanate and overseas.
By sponsoring the awards the ministry wishes to recognise and support the development of tourism products across the world that are internationally renowned yet mindful of their position within the natural eco systems and traditional communities from which they have grown. The protection of historic, cultural and natural heritage should always be developed so that it provides sustainable economic benefit for the surrounding local communities.
Green landscape, Oman. By promoting ecologically sound tourism products we hope consumers will have the opportunity to assist in the economic spread of tourism whilst protecting natural ecosystems and communities.
We continually strive to achieve this in Oman by targeting responsible international tourists and developing close cooperation between the government and private sector both at home and abroad whilst educating local communities on the long – term benefits of tourism.

Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque - Oman tours - AFAQ tourism
In 1992 Sultan Qaboos directed that his country of Oman should have a Grand Mosque. A competition for its design took place in 1993 and after a site was chosen at Bausher construction commenced in 1995. Building work, which was undertaken by Carillion Alawi LLC[1] took six years and four months.
The Mosque is built from 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone. The main musalla (prayer hall) is square (external dimensions 74.4 x 74.4 metres) with a central dome rising to a height of fifty metres above the floor. The dome and the main minaret (90 metres) and four flanking minarets (45.5 metres) are the mosque’s chief visual features. The main musalla can hold over 6,500 worshippers, while the women’s musalla can accommodate 750 worshipers. The outer paved ground can hold 8,000 worshipers and there is additional space available in the interior courtyard and the passageways, making a total capacity of up to 20,000 worshipers.
The Mosque is built on a site occupying 416,000 square metres and the complex extends to cover an area of 40,000 square metres. The newly built Grand Mosque was inaugurated by Sultan of Oman on May 4, 2001.

Bimmah Sinkhole Oman
Bimmah Sinkhole - Oman was super fun! We drove all the way from Muscat, Oman to the Bimmah Sinkhole and it was amazing! We also got to swim and jump in the sinkhole as well! We used the GoPro Hero 7 Black for a lot of the vlogging and swimming shots. And the Canon 1dx mark ii for the crisp 120 fps.
If you have not been to the Bimmah Sinkhole and are planning to travel to Oman. I would 10/10 recommend adding the destination to your travel list!
