Sport in Australia
Sport is an important part of the culture in Australia, with a long history in the country dating back to the pre-colonial period. Early sports that were played included cricket, Australian rules football, rugby union, horse racing and netball. Sport evolved with Australian national identity through events like Phar Lap, the Bodyline series and the America's Cup races.
There are a number of professional sport leagues in Australia, including the Australian Football League (Australian rules football), National Rugby League (Rugby league), Super Rugby (Rugby union), the A-League and W-League (Soccer), ANZ Championship (Netball), the National Basketball League, the Women's National Basketball League and the Australian Baseball League Cricket Sheffield Shield. Attendance for some of these leagues over the course of a single season tops six million spectators in leagues such as the AFL, A-League and NRL.

Commando Training: Kinetic Fighting & Force Ordnance at Front Sight Firearms Institute
In early 2019, Kinetic Fighting CEO Paul Cale put his tactical expertise to work testing the latest equipment from Force Ordnance. The former Special Forces Sergeant and his Kinetic Fighting team spent three days engaged in close-quarters battle scenarios at the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute in Nevada, USA.
Kinetic Fighting is the Australian Defence Force’s sole contractor for combative training. Its equipment partner, Australian-based small-arms manufacturer Force Ordnance, is at the forefront of advances in military engineering, manufacturing and composite material development. Together they hit the Nevada desert with a film crew to test Force Ordnance’s state-of-the-art arsenal and produce this video: ‘Small Arms Systems Solutions – A 35mm Project’.
The new big-hitter in small-arms development, Force Ordnance is an innovative company that started with a simple question: ‘What if an Australian precision manufacturer partnered with other international manufacturers, who represented quality and were well respected in their areas of expertise, to deliver a complete end-to-end small-arms system to the military and law-enforcement communities?’
Eighteen months later, Force Ordnance was born. An authentic systems-integrator, it was developed from a foundation of decades of research, design and manufacturing. In consultation with their strategic partners and end users, the Force Ordnance team then began documenting and designing the “system-of-systems” for the next generation of military and law-enforcement personnel.
In 2019, they decided to capture the entire system in use, live on 35mm Panavison film. With the firm’s training and simulation partner, Kinetic Fighting, creating the action, the result shows all of the system’s elements working together in a realistic training context.
