We visited Khao Soi Loong Prakid , Baan Suan Ka Fe and massage, Ton Payom Fresh market for treats, Maled Coffee, SEEN Northern Thai restaurant, The Beer Lab, Think Park. Enjoying so much of what Chiang Mai has to offer. If you thought yesterdays beer was expensive, then check out the Beer Lab. Found better prices at one of the clubs at Think Park. What a great combination at Baan Suan Ka Fe, food and a massage. It was a great day for us.

Lisu Lodge Resort in North Thailand
Viengtravel runs a 2 day/1 night excursion called the Lisu Experience which involves staying in a Lisu Village to learn how this minority lives. Picked up at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel in the morning, the Lisu Lodge Resort was less than an hour's ride away from Chiang Mai on a good highway.
We expected a lodge (aka shack on stilts) not a beautifully laid out complex on vast grounds with six bedrooms, all en suite, and built into a large tribal house. Low tables with cushions on the floor were set up on the outside but covered veranda for dining. It was a very touristy experience but one that was a highlight during the next nine days. You'll have a chance to meet other travelers from around the world; Korea, England, etc., and the lodge is run by the Lisu Village who profit from your visit.

Love comes to each individual at a different pace, time, age, and place. Every love story has its charm and uniqueness. We love to listen to couples' love story as it always bring us closer to the couples and we get to know them more as a friend. Love cupid did his magic onto Henna and Vishal at Vishal's brother's wedding. Although they did not make a lasting impression on their first met, their hearts whispered that's the one when they first saw each other. And when they met for the second time, the strong feelings they have for each other hit it off instantly and the rest is history.
Today, we are here in Chiang Mai city for the union of two hearts, two beautiful souls and two wonderful families that spans over four days in three different hotels with over four-hundred amazing wedding guests. Henna and Vishal are both uber talented individuals with kind and loving gifted hearts -- make them just the perfect soul mates for each other. Finally our dear couple is happily married with zillions of blessings and wishes from beloved families and friends. It's one of those that you would not want to miss out on; and we are fully blessed to be able to craft their wedding memories and be a part of the festivities. Special thanks to the Thadani and Advani family for the great hospitality. It was nice working with both families. WORLD'S BIGGEST WATER FIGHT! CHIANG MAI

My husband (aka Babyman) (that’s right) and I recently went on our 2.5-week honeymoon to THAILAND, a splendid, vibrant and fascinating country. The stops on our honeymoon were:
• Bangkok – exciting, animated city
• Chiang Mai –SONGKRAN FESTIVAL aka The Biggest Water Fight in the World
• Koh Yao Yai – water sports galore
• Krabi – relaxing beach luxury
We booked most of our trip including the activities through Trailfinders (though this is NOT an ad!), who were great!
In this video, I take you to Chiang Mai, a beautiful city in Northern Thailand surrounded by hills and mountains.
We stayed at the stunning 4* Viang Luang Resort, where traditional Thai décor meets luxury (
On our first day, we visited Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, an opulent temple atop a hill, home to an impressive Naga Serpent Staircase, with incredible views of Chiang Mai. We then went to a relaxing Aromatherapy Oil massage at Zabai Thai Massage & Spa ( where we had a relaxing massage.
Wandering around the city, we got COMPLETELT SOAKED: Chiang Mai is renowned for hosting the BIGGEST WATER FIGHT IN THE WORLD during Songkran Festival (Thai New Year Water Festival, 13-17 April 2017). During that time of the year, everyone joins in the fun, so you can forget about staying dry! I filmed some of the fun, though not all, as cameras and water don’t mix.
We then spent an UNFORGETTABLE DAY caring for retired elephants at the Thai Elephant Care Centre ( outside Chiang Mai. It seemed that the elephants were well cared for and happy, with devoted mahouts (elephant trainers). There, we fed the elephants and learned how to make elephant treats and ‘salad’. The most astonishing thing was when we made paper made from ACTUAL ELEPHANT POOP - high in fibre and environmentally friendly. We ended the day by bathing, swimming with (and getting sprayed by!) the elephants in a river, which was a memorable experience. There, we also met Marian Krueger, who is a renowned travel writer – check out her Thailand experience on her blog
On our last day, we went to a cooking class which was great fun and DELICIOUS. We got into a pickup truck that took us on a scenic route to the local market where we picked the freshest ingredients. We were then driven to the Siam Garden Cooking School ( for a group cooking class where we learned to cook a variety of dishes including the local dish Khao Soi (crispy noodle soup – SO GOOD), Pad Thai, Coconut Soups, spring rolls etc. Such a fun day and we met fellow travellers from all over the world!
