This is Mongolia like you've NEVER seen before! In our first episode we taste the real Mongolian BBQ known as Boodog. A full goat cooked within itself using ancient nomadic recipes. This is the authentic Mongolian barbecue a dish traditional enjoyed during the long winter months. We had no idea what to expect going into this but what we saw amazed us.
First we had a traditional meeting with the boodog master. After that we needed a goat for our BBQ so we headed to the hills surrounding the families ger to catch ourselves a sheep. We were told a brown sheep would produce the best final result. Once we had the goat the very particular process of preparing the animal for cooking was preformed by the boodog master. This was something hard to watch but thought provoking. Life here out here on the steppe is tough. Next stones were heated in a fire before finally filling the the goat hide full of its own meat and hot stones, layering with minimal ingredients. This is one of the most unique and rare cooking techniques we've ever witnessed. Once stuffed the goat was sealed and torched from the outside for about an hour non-stop.
It was time to eat! Enjoying this traditional BBQ in Mongolian with a true nomadic family was itself an experience, not to mention the food was delicious! Thank you once again to ARTGER for helping us pull this video off!

ART ZAYA.............MONGOLIA
A mongol nők szoros kapcsolatban állnak a természettel. Kemény életet élnek a zord sztyeppéken.
Inspirációt ad egyedi belső világuk, a szokásaik és hagyományaik.
Megpróbálom elmondani a titkot:
az emberi kapcsolatok jellegét, a a boldogságot ,nyomorúságot a történelmet és a modern életet.
Zaya:
When I was only a kid back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, I used to draw portraits of Buddhist deities without understanding their religious connotations. At that time, in our country, communist socio-political systems were beginning to crumble, which fostered this religious renewal.
Looking back many years later, I believe I may have found the real deity to draw. And that deity is Women. Especially, Mongolia's nomadic women, their close relations with nature, their hard life out on the harsh Mongolian steppe, their unique inner-world, and the customs and traditions they carry on, give me tremendous inspiration and subject matter for most of my work.
Through the distinctive features of those Mongolian women's expressions, I try to tell a secret that has never being told, of happiness and misery, of humanity's relations with nature, and of history and contemporary lives and how they connect with us.

Ulaanbaatar Mongolia is a place to behold
Let's explore the world through Google Street View.
Today we are visiting Ulaanbaatar Mongolia. It's huge and amazing to see. Sadly two portions of the video were lost due to a screen capture glitch and a lot of good stuff was lost. I promise to go back some day!
Here you can check out where we have been on Google Maps.

The collection serves an important role in documenting the social, historical and cultural evolution of Mongolia. In 1991, MNMAG separated from the Fine Arts Museum of Mongolia and became an independent organisation, dedicated to increasing public appreciation for Mongolian modern visual artworks.
The MNMAG is a government-supported arts organisation. Its collection forms the basis for providing aesthetic experiences and art education to the public. The gallery’s unique collection consists of Mongolian modern and contemporary paintings, sculptures, prints, crafts and other new forms of art and artefacts which possess originality and a Mongolian identity. The artworks cover a range of themes from history and cultural traditions to landscapes and contemporary expressions.

SEEING THE CITY | Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
The first day of the Nomadic Mongolia tour with GAdventures is in Ulaanbaatar. In the morning we did a city tour. I got to see some of the top attractions Ulaanbaatar has to offer - Gandan Tegchenling Monestary, Bogd Khan Palace Museum, and Zaisan Memorial.
In the evening, we went to a cultural show. It was surprisingly good. I find a lot culture shows can be a little cheesy but I really enjoyed Tumen Ekh.
Much love and happy travels
