Big Island of Hawaii Category ATV - Tom Barefoot
Visit for more information. Big Island of Hawaii ATV Off-Road Tours - The Big Island has more land area then all the other Hawaiian islands put together and as such has vast amounts of space which can be visited by ATVs. Its not surprising then that the Big Island was the site of the very first ATV rides in the state. Vast ranchland areas, beautiful coastal routes and inland forest treks are all available for the ATV enthusiast. Some of the advanced rides allow participants to travel 15 to 20 miles into the rugged and colorful Big Island rainforests to see just how dirty they can get. Tours to a remote private pebbled beach, tours to exquisite waterfalls and wide-open ranchland tours are all available to those wishing to experience the thrills of an ATV adventure.

ATVing & Waterfalls! -Kona Day 4

Flumin' Kohala Tour - Big Island
One of my favorite experiences in the Big Island (Hawaii). It is located up north of the island and has the best tour guides who actually grew up in the area. You can tell how much they love their community and how they maintain the area. It is awe-inspiring.
The town built flumes that they use to transport water to another town that needs it. They hired japanese workers to build the tunnels, you can see some writing on the walls.
There were about 9 tunnels, some are long and some are short. There are some parts that have water but it is not so bad. The water is not so deep, it is about 3 feet. It was raining when we went, so bring a raincoat, it helps you from getting too cold.
All in all, WE LOVE THIS TOUR!!!

Hawaii - Pristine beaches, waterfalls, and Rain Forests - DJI Mavic 2 GoPro Hero7
Hawaii, The Big Island is so beautiful containing 8 of the 13 ecosystems including 5 record breaking volcanoes. The beaches are so pristine, the waterfalls magnificent, and the ability to go from sea to 14,000 feet of elevation on top of the worlds tallest volcano known as Mauna Kea is mind blowing. The history of the people and the vastness of ocean surrounding the 4000 square mile island is incredible! We had such an amazing time on the island celebrating my business partner and good friends marriage at the Fairmont Orchid which is a beautiful development with all the amenities. We would highly recommend staying at the Fairmont!
We traveled to the north coast and rode ATV's from the North Shore up into the mountains and then went swimming in a waterfall. Darryl at ATV outfitters was an excellent guide and very respectful of the 22,000 acre ranch that their lease is on. I would highly recommend
Stopped and had lunch in Hawi (Pronounced JAVY) which was a neat little hippy artist town. Had lunch at Kava Kafe, and then we had to stop at Anuenue Big Islands Best Shave Ice in Kawaihae.
Our favorite beach was definitely Manini'owali but there are so many beautiful white sand beaches on the west coast. We traveled over to Hilo on the east coast and it was a totally different animal. We trekked the beautiful coast up to The Waipio Valley taking the scenic route stopping at beautiful waterfalls, jagged beach cliffs that see 30-40 foot waves in the winter, and experienced the history of the region. I could have spent 2 weeks or a lifetime exploring this area and not seen it all. With only a short amount of time to explore, we made our way back to our hotel and rounded up our things and took the 9pm from Kona to San Francisco which was 6 hours, then SF to Austin was another 4 hours, then 10 hours later, it was 1pm in Austin and we were exhausted. Now I remember why it took us so long to make it back to Hawaii. That flight was brutal!
We hope to travel back to Hawaii again, but for now its time to get back to work.

Big Island, Hawaii: The North Coast
The North Coast of Hawaii (Hamakua Coast) is one of the most beautiful areas of Hawaii. At Laupahoehoe a short scenic drive leads to the point of the same name, where strong surf crashes up over the rocks, with high cliffs at the background. Honoka'a is a small town with some historical buildings that once was an important sugar industry center. From it there is a side road leading to the Waipi'o valley, one of the main attractions in the Big Island. It is posisible go down the valley by hiking or with a 4WD.
Waimea(Kamuela) is other of the main town in this area, surrounded by green pastures. From Waimea the Kohala Mountain road, leads to the town of Hawi through a mountain and pasture landscape.
