Aazhimala Siva Temple in Kazhivoor has been attracting a throng of ardent Shiva devotees as well as fascinated tourists for decades now. 'Aazhi' translates to Sea and 'Mala' means Hill- and the temple has been named so because it rests right on the golden shore of the Arabian sea on a slightly elevated platform. The Aazhimala Siva Temple, as the name suggests, is devoted to the great Lord Shiva. Since Tuesday is considered to be an auspicious day by Shiva's devotees, every Tuesday, hoards of the lord's disciples come to seek his blessings at this temple.

The annual festival of the temple is held between January and February where thousands of devotees come together to offer the 'Naranga Vilakku' which is essentially an oil lamp that is lit on a lemon. Witnessing hundreds of oil lamps on the seashore being lit in harmony will make you think that the sparkling night stars have fallen to the ground! Since the Aazhimala Siva Temple is located on an elevated pitch, the temple provides a panoramic and simply astounding view of the mesmerizingly rhythmic waves of the Arabian Sea and the endless golden shore of the remarkable Aazhimala Beach

Azhimala is a beach near to Kovalam. It is a very quiet beach. It is around 20 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. Azhimala is known for the Ayurvedic resorts. There is a temple in the name of Azhimala, the deity is Lord Siva. The temple is very near to the beach. Since the beach can be viewed from the hill top, the name came to be Azhimala, Azhi means 'the sea' and Mala 'the hill'. One will never forget the view of setting sun from this calm shore.

Aazhimala Siva Temple is one of its kind Temple in the coast of Kerala . The Siva Temple is situated in Trivandrum, just 20 km from central Trivandrum. The ambiance of this place is second to none. The serene holiness of the temple and the soothing breeze from the Arabian Sea is simply calming. And the fact that It is one among very few temples in India to be constructed in close vicinity to the ocean adds up to the appeal of the place.
Kerala's biggest Siva statue is being constructed in the temple premises and to see that massive structure with Arabian Sea as the background is a view to behold. This is one among the places you go not to just see the place but to experience .Usually the place is not crowded making the place that much more peaceful and enjoyable. Please visit here when possible and take in the breath of calmness and natures beauty. Please do respect the place and its beliefs while visiting.
With no doubt one can say this is among the must visit places in Trivandrum . It is a perfect spot for weekend getaway or an escape from the hectic city life.

My new vlog is about Aazhimala Beach which is located about 7kms south of Kovalam. A wonderful place worth visiting. A nice spot to spend an evening with family and friends.... The view of sunset from here is really amazing. The cliff as well as the beach with rocks in between is really adventurous. The view which we get before stepping down to the sand from the top can't be explained in words. The Shiva temple located here is quiet famous, also there exist a Catholic church. The place is popular as well as favorite to many foreigners....

This video shows the famous Maheswaram Siva Parvathi temple at Chenkal, Neyyatinkara, Thiruvananthapuram. The Mahasivalinga in this temple which is 111ft tall is the highest in the world today.

The east entrance has Rajagopuram built in three floors and a large statue of Nandi. The devotees can enter the Sivalinga which has 8 floors in total. The entire construction is based on Shadadara Chakras. The bottom and top floor has two general halls. The other 6 halls are dedicated to the 6 chakras. One can worship the Sivalinga on the ground floor and proceed to other floors. On each hall, a devotee can do meditation concentrating on the symbol for that particular chakra.

The other specialties are the 12 Jyothir lingas and 32 forms of Lord Ganapathi (Vinayaka).
