The Contrabando Movie Set is what remains, from the production of movies like Streets of Laredo. At first glance, you'd swear that this is a real ghost town, but once you walk inside any of the buildings, it's obvious that these were only façades.

This is a shorter version of a previous upload of the same slide show and the same music. Because of the shorter length of time for each slide, this one's a bit easier to watch.
Contrabando, so named for a nearby canyon, is an abandoned movie set west of Lajitas on Ranch Road 170 right next to the Rio Grande River. They filmed Larry McMurtrey's Streets of Laredo there, along with several other movies.

Fall Ride at Lajitas Stable in Study Butte, Terlingua Texas
Horseback ride in the foothills near Big Bend National Park
Terlingua famous ghost town!
Our visit to the distant Ghost Town of Terlingua Texas was quick since we were just passing through on our way to Big Bend Ranch State Park for a camping trip.
Terlingua is an old mining town from the 1800's but since then has always kept inhabitants. The Ghost Town is part of the original housing for the population that settled in the remote town.
This remote destination in Texas has since been a tourist destination for people who love the outdoors! With Big Bend Ranch State Park nearby, where there are some of the best mountain biking trails around, the average explorer will find alot to do! Including camping, jeep tours, mountain biking, and photography among other hobbies.
Terlingua Texas is near Study Butte and Lajitas and is home to the Terlingua International Chili Championship! An international known and extremely popular chili cook off!

Stewart & Lacie's Big Bend Destination Wedding
sightandsoundfilms.com
I have no words for how amazing this wedding was. Tucked on the very edge of Big Bend National Park & the border of Mexico is Lajitas, Tx. It's the type of place you don't just stumble upon & it was the perfect setting for this destination wedding. We got to spend the entire weekend with Stewart & Lacie and all of those closest to them. By the time we left, we felt like we were a part of their family. It was truly an unforgettable weekend. We hope you enjoy getting to witness a part of their love story! #siempreyoung

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Emme in the Rio Grande - Big Bend Ranch State Park
At The “Contrabando movie set in Big Bend Ranch State Park.
It was the site of the Brooks & Dunn music video, “Hey Maria,” and Sissy Spacek, James Garner and Sam Shepard also walked amidst the adobe buildings in the TV mini-series “Streets of Laredo.”

On the road to Mariscal Mines,Big Bend, Texas
A nice doable road, in 2 wheel drive for us, [high clearance not a must but helpful] in Big Bend Park, East River Rd on the way to Mariscal Mines where only one primitive campsite exists.
