Flying Scotsman on the North Wales Coast Express - (DBLM Steam)
A charter train from England, a very Welsh castle, and Flying Scotsman. The Railway Touring Company special on Friday 8th November from Euston to Holyhead. Filmed at Holyhead, Conwy, and Abergele.
A particularly impressive departure from Holyhead - always good, but extra good without a supporting diesel, in the rush hour, at dusk, and with an almost full moon........A 20 minute late arrival, further delays in the extended shunting movements and hence the 67 minute late departure.
Equally atmospheric at Conwy on the outward journey......almost calm conditions, as the train crept out of Llandudno Junction and across the estuary......the sound of disturbed gulls and oystercatchers as Scotsman sneaked beneath the castle, in the wake of the dreaded stopping train.
Thanks for viewing......more videos in the DBLM Steam library, easily accessed via the Landscape Moments website.

Trains in North Wales: Conwy
Barely needs an introduction, Conwy is the most distinctive and famous town on the coastal route. The filming covers the course of about one mile, from the causeway up to the fringes of the town at Conwy Morfa, taking in the station itself. Filmed between September 2015 and August 2016.

Riding the North Wales RHTT - Holyhead to Shrewsbury
Available on DVD and Blu-ray from:
Description:
The autumn of 2016 saw Colas Class 56 locomotives used on a Rail Head Treatment Train, running from Shrewsbury to Holyhead and back. Based at Coleham depot, with an overnight path starting with Class 97 haulage, this marathon train ran to Machynlleth, Craven Arms and Bidston before a daytime path all the way to Holyhead.
Filmed from the cab of 56078 with 56087 on the back and a thrash cam recording all the action, this cab ride shows the complete journey from Holyhead to Chester, Crewe and onto Shrewsbury. Filming cab rides in the month of December is not easy (not much daylight) but this was a gorgeous day with brilliant sunshine (too much at times!) and the North Wales coast and autumn colours are shown in all their glory.
Highlights include: crossing the Britannia Bridge, non-stop through Bangor, Conwy Castle and running through Conwy Railway Bridge, the coast on a cold winter's day, various signal boxes and semaphores, The Duke of Lancaster ship plus uncut footage through Chester, Crewe and arrival at Shrewsbury with its traditional signalling.
Lein Amlwch 125 Cab Ride
Filmed in 1992 on a DMU special from Bangor to Amlwch run by the formative Lein Amlwch group. This video has been speeded up by 4. Apologies for the fly on the windscreen, I was in a rush setting up the camera and did'nt spot the fly

INFO & HOW TO GET HERE:
Dwygyfylchi is situated close to Penmeanmawr. Mawr is grand or big in Welsh. Situated between Penmaenmawr (mountain) on one side, Penmaenbach (mountain) on the other, Dwygyfylchi is literally between the mountains and sea.
The main road (A55) that passes through goes from Chester (Caer in Welsh) to Bangor and you can see the railway bridge as well. The railway that runs between the beach and the road, so you access the beach via the walk-over bridge. If you pull in off the A55 to the Shell Petrol garage and the Puffin Café and Mini-Shop (Open 10am-4pm most days), you’ll be right next to the walkover. It now has a tumble dryer & washer in the car-park, where, for a small price, you can wash and dry any wet or sandy beachwear (great if you’re camping nearby).
You can also drive through the Sychnant pass from Conwy. It's takes 20 minutes or so to travel, and a great alternative if the A55 is busy or blocked. Please go slowly as there are sharp twists and turns and sharp inclines and declines on thin roads overlooking the mountain edge (protected only by a small wall). Be prepared to meet yourself coming the other way down thin lanes, and please be mindful of our wild horses and sheep! It was designed for horse & carriage, and ambient conditions, remember!
You can also get here by train (arrivabus.co.uk) or thetrainline.com), bus (arrivabus.co.uk), bicycle or walking (there is a walkway and cycle path from Conwy to Llanfairfechan passing through along the coast), minibus (Owen's Taxis & Minibuses-Llys Owen, Tregarth, Bangor LL57 4PH, phone: 01248 602260), or taxi ('tacsi' in Welsh-there are many but try Castle Cabs (Conwy) Limited-Conway Rd, Llandudno Junction LL31 9BA, phone: 01492 593398)
It's quite a peaceful place. Not many people know about this beach, which carries onto the next village, Penmaenmawr and then on to the next one as well beyond that which is Llanfairfechan. Penmaenmawr used to be quite popular until the A55 road came and split it in two. Before then there used to be something called the Sychnant Pass which took you across the mountains and it would be where all the horse-drawn carriages went.
The Prime Minister William Gladstone came to visit Penmaenmawr and Dwygyfylchi. Penmaenmawr was quite famous for its mining and you can see still the remains of a mining platform on the mountain.
Penmaenmawr and Dwygyfylchi beach are in a way quite similar. So there's lots of shingle before the vast waves of sand, so do you need to bring adequate footwear. From Dwygyfylchi Beach you can see Llandudno’s West Shore Beach and the Great Orme at Llandudno with the cafe on top.
As you can see in the video it's very, very empty. The most crowding you can have is from seagulls. On Monday afternoon, July 15th, when this video was shot, there's only a few people on on the beach with their dogs and you can see Anglesey, which you can get across to on the Menai Bridge.
Dwygyfylchi has some recreation fields for football or rugby (and two play parks) and you can also go up into a place called 'The Fairy Glen' and Capelulo (from the hermit, St Ulo) which has another play area with a zip-wire and a figure of St Ulo, reading, further up towards the mountains (about 20 minutes by foot, or 10 minutes by car.) 'The Fairy Glen' has an Austrian restaurant (called 'The Austrian Restaurant'). It has an Indian restaurant (sadly this amazing place moved in October 2019) and it has 'The Fairy Glen' pub (Dwygyfylchi has 'The Gladstone-recommended!) as well as many, many walks along the Sychnant Pass. You can take your dog. There's wild ponies as well, and it's totally free to see. So do come along.
We're 20 minutes from Llandudno and about 30 minutes from Bangor. We are 15b minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Conwy Castle; a medieval fortification in Conwy. The castle was built by King Edward I, during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1289. It was built as part of a bigger project to build a walled town called Conwy. You can walk around the town walls (some free), and harbour and buy yourself some make-believe armour, eat some fish & chips, visit the smallest house in Britain (entry fee applies) or walk the pedestrian-only Conwy Suspension Bridge (now National Trust owned).
We've got a lot of caravan parks where you can pitch up. We've also got camping in the field, and of course there's lots of AirB&B's or B&B’s or hotels nearby if you prefer a few home touches.
PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO OR HAVE OR WILL BE VISITING!
Your thoughts and feedback are always welcome!
Train Simulator 2018 | Class 47 Virgin Trains | North Wales Coastal | Llandudno to Crewe HD
Here is my latest Let's Play video of Train Simulator 2018 and this time around. I am using the Class 47 Diesel Locomotive from the Virgin Trains First Generation Loco Add-on that also includes the Virgin Trains Class 43 HST that is shown on here as AI traffic although I will cover the Virgin Trains HST in another video. The scenario is set in 2001 and uses the Class 47 with a set of six Mk2 carriages. I shall be releasing this scenario on Steam although some AP Enhancement Packs are used as well as some reskins to add realism into this scenario. The scenario will take about 1 hour and 20 mins to complete which is roughly the duration of this video.
