This is the final video in this Round The World for Food video series with Star Alliance. It was an amazing trip, the most action packed every day trip with food that I’ve ever taken in my life. I want to say a huge thank you to you for your support and for watching all the videos!
On Day 39, I wanted to have one final delicious meal in Hong Kong, and so we decided to take a quick trip over to Aberdeen Fish Market, which is outside of the main city, but very close, across the mountain. Turned out to be one of the best seafood meals I’ve ever had in Hong Kong, awesomely fresh seafood. We then headed to the airport and caught a flight with Thai Airways back home to Bangkok!
1:04 Aberdeen Fish Market - Located across Hong Kong island from the main part of the city, but only a 10 minute bus ride when there’s no traffic, Aberdeen is a nice place to visit. It also happens to be home to a wholesale seafood market. The market wasn’t too busy or crowded, but it was quite nice. But the main reason we went there was to eat an amazing Hong Kong seafood meal.
2:47 Aberdeen Fish Market Yee Hope Seafood Restaurant - It took me a little while to find the restaurant as I wasn’t sure if there was more than one restaurant at the fish market - but it turns out that I think there was just one restaurant, known as Aberdeen Fish Market Yee Hope Seafood Restaurant. The English part of their menu had some seafood set meals, so I just decided to order the full set which included crab, steamed fish, scallops, and a few other incredible seafood dishes. What impressed me the most about this Hong Kong seafood restaurant was that not only was the seafood extremely fresh, but it was cooked perfectly - nothing was too salty or overcooked - but everything was literally perfect. Although it wasn’t cheap, it this seafood meal in Hong Kong was the perfect last meal on this round the world trip! Total price - 646 HKD ($83.26)

Hongkong, Aberdeen Harbour - China Travel Channel
Aberdeen Harbour, Hong Kong, Southern District, is located on the south side of Hong Kong Island. Traditionally there are many junks and sampans here. There are still a lot of people who prefer life on the houseboats and are only hard to convince that the life in one of the surrounding skyscrapers is more convenient . On the boats, the relationship with neighbors is of course closer than in an anonymous high-rise apartment.
Center of the port of Aberdeen is the Jumbo Kingdom, two floating restaurants. In one of the huge dining rooms is a throne on which even Queen Elizabeth II had taken her seat during a visit to Hong Kong.

Aberdeen Harbour, Hongkong, Southern District, befindet sich auf der Südseite von Hongkong Island. Traditionell befinden sich hier viele Dschunken und Sampans.
Noch gibt es viele Einwohner die das Leben auf den Hausbooten vorziehen und nur schwer davon zu überzeugen sind, dass das Leben in einem der umliegenden Hochhäuser komfortabler ist. Die Gemeinschaft mit Nachbarn ist natürlich auf den Booten enger als in einer anonymen Hochhauswohnung.
Mittelpunkt des Hafens von Aberdeen bildet das Jumbo Kingdom, zwei schwimmende Restaurants. Einen der riesigen Speisesäle schmückt ein Thron, auf dem auf dem auch Queen Elizabeth II. während eines Hongkong-Besuchs bereits Platz genommen hatte.

Aberdeen (Listeni/æbərˈdiːn/) is an area and town on the Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. Administratively, it is part of the Southern District. Aberdeen Harbour is a harbour between Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau. The name 'Aberdeen' usually covers the areas of Aberdeen, Wong Chuk Hang and Ap Lei Chau, but it is more often used to refer to the town only. Population is approximately 60,000.
Aberdeen is famous to tourists for its floating village and floating seafood restaurants located within the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelters. The Tanka people are generally associated with the fishing industry, and there are also several dozen expatriates living on boats in the harbour.
Hong Kong Sampan Cruise Ride at Aberdeen Fishing Village (4K)
We visited Aberdeen Fishing Village (香港仔水上人家) in Hong Kong and took a scenic Sampan boat ride. The tour bus left from Victoria Peak via Stubbs Road and then Deep Water Road, where we saw some beautiful views of the city before arriving at the Aberdeen Promenade. There we started the relaxing and picturesque cruise on a Big Bus Sampan Tour boat where we saw nice views of the Hong Kong skyline, skyscrapers, high-rise condos plus numerous fishing boats that comprise the village, including Chinese Junk boats. We also got to see famous Jumbo Kingdom Jumbo Floating Restaurant (珍寶海鮮舫) as well.
This was part of our Hong Kong highlights tour booked on Princess Cruises. Hong Kong was part of our March 2018 Asia Cruise aboard the Majestic Princess (盛世公主号) cruise ship.

Taking a Sampan Boat Tour around Aberdeen in the South China Sea of Hong Kong, China (舢舨 - 香港仔 - 香港). So today we're doing a Sampan boat tour in an area known as Aberdeen outside of central Hong Kong. This is an area that is home to the Tangka people or the boat people who actually live aboard these little ships, so it'll be an interesting outing.
