Gi 2017 Aberdovey
The Gi , also known as the Grinder Invitational, was originally held in December in frosty conditions over 18 holes of the Harleyford Golf Club. The emphasis was very much on the proceeding evening dinner and drinks late in to the night. times have changed. nowadays the golf is the main star of the show and, as the competitors mature, the drinking has faded in to the background and the golf has taken centre stage in this, the season ending event of the famed NGC TOUR. . The venue has also progressed from the 1996 Donald Steel layout to more traditional and revered Links course - the preferred course type of the Tour.
This particular event, the 6th iteration, was played at one of the top Welsh links, Aberdovey Golf Club. A fantastic venue for one of the most exciting Gi's yet..... sit back, brew a nice cuppa and enjoy the action.

Aberdovey Golf Club Wales 2011
This was a super fun course to play in Wales. I loved the sand dunes and the view from the 12th green in absolutely so gorgeous. Have you seen a theme in our trip to England and Wales this year? Blue skies and blue waters. This is another course you have to put on your calendar and go and play. What was superb links course!!!

Another view, another day. Aberdovey Golf Course and the high sand dunes next to the sea make a good platform. Not much sun, but at least it didn't rain and the view was superb. Sorry about the wind, but there you are! Class five 44871, for the record, on eight out of Machynlleth heading for Pwllheli.

TBAGS 2010 - Masey Shootout. Aberdovey Golf Club. 18th June 2010
The 3rd 'Masey Shootout' in TBAGS' fifteen year history is required to separate the teams, after 2 days of pressure golf has resulted in a tie, 11 points each.
Rest of the World are desperate to win this Tour of North-West Wales as they trail their London opponents, 8 - 6 in overall Mashie victories.
Now it is down to the ultimate test of man and ball.
Who wants it more? Who's balls are harder and truer?
Never has 6ft 2in of cut grass proved so daunting.
Let the final battle commence...

The property is situated 3 miles from Aberdyfi on the hillside overlooking the estuary. Otters, buzzards and red kites are all frequently seen from the terraces, and a wide array of waterfowl, waders, and seabirds are visitors at each low tide.
The Daily Telegraph described the view from Glandyfi Castle as undoubtedly the most magnificent view from any house I know in Britain. We would disagree as we face the castle and without doubt the southerly view from our terraces is even more breathtaking.

SFG Qualifier - Aberdovey - 13th July 2009
The Aberdovey secretary Ian Hamilton trades his office for the course and wins on Monday 13th July
The scene was set for an epic battle and one which was going to be tough for the visiting players as secretary Aberdovey took part in the SFG Challenge.
On a bright morning with a gusty wind the competitors battled bravely but local course knowledge combined with a great round of golf proved too much for the rest of the field.
I'm delighted to win and am really looking forward to playing at Celtic Manor said a beaming Ian Hamilton.
