I was hiking in Abisko national park in Sweden via an event hosted by KY (Aalto University Business Students) . The landscape was amazing so I decided to capture it to share with you all.

Stockholm & Abisko, Sweden Trip
During the autumn vacation in Denmark, Brenda who is my Indonishian friend, and I decided to go to Arctic circle to see the aoura, and climbing the Abisko National Park, close to the nature. And we had a lot of fun during these five days.
Abisko National Park
Je pakt een vliegtuig en hop, je bent er: Zweeds Lapland. Drie dagen heb ik er op uitnodiging van Visit Sweden mogen rondsjouwen en wat voel ik me weer eens bevoorrecht. Er zijn weinig plekken waar ik me zo thuis voel als in het Hoge Noorden. Waarom? Omdat het er nog zo puur is. Steekwoorden: kale bergen, rendieren, sompige grond, miraculeuze plantjes, eten wat de natuur biedt, wind, regen en sneeuw, 50 tinten groen, geen internet. En dat laatste is misschien wel het beste van alles. Bekijk de video en je begrijpt waarom drie dagen in het Abisko National Park veel te kort is. Met dank aan de fotografen Fredrik Broman en Carl-Johan Utsi voor de foto's en mijn GoPro vriendje waarmee alles is gefilmd. En excuus voor de wind in de microfoon.
Swedish Lapland: Barren mountains, reindeer, swampy ground, miraculous plants, eat what nature provides, wind, rain and snow, 50 shades of green, no internet. And that is perhaps the best of all. Watch the video and you'll understand why three days in the Abisko National Park is way too short. Our first night outdoors with Veera in the beautiful national park of Abisko. Views in the area are amazing and continue much further than we had possibility of going. Highly recommended
Winter hiking in Abisko – Swedish Nature
During our last full day in Abisko, near Kiruna, in Swedish Lapland, we went for a snowshoe hike to a viewpoint called Paddus, an ancient ritual place for the Sami people. Though in the morning the sky was cloudy and it was snowing, by the time we reached the viewpoint the weather changed for the better, and we were able to fully appreciate the magnificent views on Lapporten, Lake Torneträsk and all the mountains around us. We were so lucky that we even managed to see two moose feeding in the forest.
In the afternoon we walked down to the frozen lake and walked on the ice until we were too cold to stay outside and had to head back to our hostel.
The following day, with only a few hours left in Abisko, we visited the Sami Camp, a reconstruction of a village showing how the Sami people lived in the late 19th century. We then walked to the tourist station for a warm meal before the long train journey back to Gothenburg.
Three days might not seem enough to explore such a vast space, but even in this limited time, we had some great experiences. Watching the northern lights dancing in the sky, hiking in the emptiness of this wild expanse towards a white, blinding horizon, spying on the moose roaming free in the forest… every moment we spent here had some magic in it. This is one of those places you fall in love with, one of those places where you say: “I must come back”.

On the 10th of June we attempted the Kungsleden trail from Abisko to Nikkaluokta in Sweden. Enjoy the first day of the hike through Abisko nationalpark to a camp spot outside the park where we camped that night.

Abisko on Snowshoes (Best Hike!) – Swedish Nature
Our second day in Abisko, in Swedish Lapland, couldn’t start any better. We go to the tourist station to ask some advice on possible day-long hikes with snowshoes in Abisko National Park and the guide suggests us his favourite: taking the chair lift to the top of Mount Nuolja, then following a trail that descends in the valley for about 4 km before turning back towards Abisko along the Kungsleden. The chair lift to Aurora Sky Station is quite expensive (190 SEK per person – about 18€ – in March 2019), but it is worth it, because it is the only way to reach the start of this beautiful trail in winter and the view from the top station is unique. This hike is quite easy, but either snowshoes or cross-country skis are necessary, as the snow can be quite deep in some parts, and you don’t want to ruin the paths for the skiers making asteroid-size holes with your boots ???? The only “tricky” passage is a river crossing, which may be feasible or not depending on ice conditions. We didn’t have any problems, but it was rather creepy to hear the water flowing just under our feet! The crossing can be avoided by taking a detour a few hundred metres before, so you can easily go to the river, check the ice and then go back if not safe.

Sharing my group trip experience of hiking in the Swedish Lapland and the Scandinavian mountains in the background. The northern lights was faint but good to see. The temperature was -27C but hiking is always ON ;)
Massive Aurora 23rd March 2018 Abisko, Sweden
Finished my aurora tours yesterday for Lights Over Lapland and was just about to watch a movie and then this happened outside! An even more crazy aurora than last week. Had to run and grab the camera and filmed this!
Even though a geomagnetic storm has been forecast the Kp score is currently low but this looks like a geomagnetic storm to me. Totally amazing!
