This Giant Shoe in Taiwan is Actually a Church
A shoe of epic proportions, covered with bright blue panes of glass! This new structure, to be used as a wedding hall, has been erected by officials from Taiwan’s coastal Chiayi county. It’s dedicated to the victims of ‘blackfoot disease’ in the 1950s. For many, the illness was so severe that their feet turned dark purple and amputation was the only treatment. Many women faced discrimination and were unable to marry or start families, let alone wear high-heeled shoes. The 55 foot-tall (17 metre) structure will open shortly after Chinese New Year (February 8).
