Aboriginal Art in Western Australia
The unique, rugged landscape of Western Australia's outback is an artists palette of rusty red deserts, open blue skies, and lush green foliage. It's no wonder that the Aboriginal natives of Australias far west are renowned for their ancient Indigenous art.
Indigenous art galleries are establishing themselves all over Western Australia, showcasing some of the finest contemporary Aboriginal art throughout the country.
The Kimberley Aboriginal Artists is an alliance of four Aboriginal art galleries in the region that are committed to producing, showcasing and selling Aboriginal artworks.
As this video shows, The Waringarri Arts Centre in Kununnura is at the forefront of ensuring the ethical trade of authentic Aboriginal art, as well as maximising the benefit for artists and the local community.

Australian Aboriginal art is art made by the Indigenous peoples of Australia
Dot painting consists of various paint colours like yellow (the sun), brown (the soil), red (desert sand) and white (the clouds and the sky). These are traditional Aboriginal colors. Dot paintings can be painted on anything though in aboriginal times they used to paint dot pictures on rocks, caves etc. Mostly Indigenous Australians painted nature like animals or lakes and of course, the dreamtime.
Aboriginal people in australia used to paint stories and legends on caves and rocks to represent their religion.
Rock art, including painting and engraving or carving, can be found at sites around Australia. Rock paintings appear on caves in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Aboriginal rock art has been around for a long period of time, with the oldest examples, in Western Australia's Pilbara region, and the Olary district of South Australia, estimated to be up to around 40,000 years old.
Bark paintings are regarded as fine art, and the finest art command high prices on the international art markets. The best artists are recognized annually in the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award.
