Glasgow is a port city on the River Clyde in Scotland's western Lowlands. It's famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture, a rich legacy of the city's 18th–20th-century prosperity due to trade and shipbuilding. Today it's a national cultural hub, home to institutions including the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland, as well as acclaimed museums and a thriving music scene.
Scotland, the U.K.’s northernmost country, is a land of mountain wildernesses such as the Cairngorms and Northwest Highlands, interspersed with glacial glens (valleys) and lochs (lakes). Its major cities are Edinburgh, the capital, with its iconic hilltop castle, and Glasgow, famed for its vibrant cultural scene. Scotland is also famous for golf, the game first played at the Old Course at St Andrews in the 1400s.
UK: Tens of thousands march for Scottish independence in Glasgow
Thousands flooded the streets of Glasgow, demanding Scottish independence from the United Kingdom, on Saturday.
Carrying flags and banners, an estimated 32,000 people initially assembled at Kelvingrove Park and marched on to Glasgow Green.
The march was organised by All Under One Banner, a pro-independence organisation, which describes its mission as marching at regular intervals until Scotland is Free.

20 Things to do in Glasgow, Scotland travel guide video transcript:
In today’s video we’re going to be showing you around Glasgow, Scotland. This is a city that we visited last autumn and then again this summer, and on both visits, we ate like kings and queens because it turns out, Glasgow is a great destination for foodies.
Since we never got around to making a travel guide on our first visit, today we’re going to be combining the footage from both of those trips to show you some of the best things to do in Glasgow and also some of the best places to eat and drink it. So let’s get started!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Glasgow, Scotland. We loved our two visits and we’d gladly return for a 3rd. This is an amazing city for foodies and there are so many great bars, restaurants, breweries, and distilleries to visit.
Also FYI - if you’re already visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow is just a short 50-minute train ride away, and it’s a city with its own unique vibe.
If there are any other fun things to do in Glasgow that you’d like to share with travellers, feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels!

Just over an hour west of Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh, is the city of #Glasgow.
#Explore this city’s unique blend of style and character at George Square, the center of it all. Looming over the city’s north-east are the brooding spires of Glasgow Cathedral. On the hill behind the cathedral lies Glasgow Necropolis, a timeworn Victorian cemetery. Just a 20-minute drive from the city center is Bothwell Castle, a remnant of the past. For those after a little more culture, an attraction which exemplifies Glasgow’s fascinating blend of the earthy and the elaborate is the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Founded in 1451, the University of Glasgow is one of the oldest, and most distinguished, learning institutions in the world.
From its rich history to its irreverent character, a #vacation to Glasgow will show you elements from all walks of life.

Walking in GLASGOW / Scotland (UK) - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland. Famous for its Victorian architecture it is a national cultural hub with the Scottish National opera, ballet and an interesting music scene.
We start our walk at the River Clyde near the La Pasionaria sculpture in the southern city centre. From there we walk on Jamaica St towards the inner city and St Enoch Square. A quick detour through the shopping mall there and we continue northwards on the Buchanan St with many shops.
On our walk we also pass the Museums and the George Square with the Glasgow City Chambers. From the merchant city we head back to the centre and enjoy the street that become quieter now at the end of the day.
From the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall we head West and eventually go back South towards the Glasgow Central Station. We end our tour - now after sunset - right where we started - exactly 1 hour ago - at the River Clyde.

Places to see in ( Glasgow - UK ) Buchanan Street
Places to see in ( Glasgow - UK ) Buchanan Street
Buchanan Street is one of the main shopping thoroughfares in Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland. Buchanan Street forms the central stretch of Glasgow's famous shopping district with a generally more upmarket range of shops than the neighbouring streets: Argyle Street, and Sauchiehall Street.
Buchanan Street was first feued in 1777 and was named after a wealthy Tobacco Lord, Andrew Buchanan of Buchanan, Hastie, & Co. He was proprietor of the ground on which it was formed from Argyle Street as far north as Gordon Street.
The land around the north and northeast of Buchanan Street was formerly home to Buchanan Street railway station. Originally owned by the Caledonian Railway, then the London Midland and Scottish Railway and finally British Railways, Buchanan Street station was closed in 1966. It was not rated highly either for location, architecture or convenience. Glasgow Queen Street station is immediately to the East of Buchanan Street, and the Buchanan Street station on the Glasgow Subway (which also serves Queen Street Station) is underneath the North end of Buchanan Street. The St. Enoch station of the subway is at the South end of Buchanan Street.
Buchanan Street runs south from the junction with Sauchiehall Street. At its north end are the Buchanan Galleries and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. The Princes Square mall and a flagship branch of the House of Fraser department store are opposite one another further south, and the street meets Argyle Street at the south, just north of St.
Buchanan Street is renowned for its variety in high street shopping, including flagship stores, with rents on the street being as much as £250 per square foot, making it the 6th most expensive street in the United Kingdom for retail rent, only surpassed by 5 streets in London. Buchanan Street is also the second busiest shopping thoroughfare, second only to Oxford Street in London. Glasgow has been recognized for being the second best shopping destination in the United Kingdom, after London, since 2008.
( Glasgow - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Glasgow . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Glasgow - UK
