Food and Wine: The new Algarve wines
Cooking a traditional Algarve dish in Faro, Portugal - Video 4/4
Share this video for a chance to win a free Travel Guide! Instructions:
We finish off our adventure in Algarve by cooking the region’s staple dish in the town of Faro!
Although cataplana is the name of the copper cookware famous in the Algarve region, it also lends its name to the dish. We wish to thank the staff at Tertulia Algarvia, and especially chef Margarida Vargues for taking the time to teach us this delicious dish. We highly recommend you pay them a visit if you are in Faro.
Alternatively, you can also try this dish at home, thanks to their generosity for passing on the recipe for our viewers! Check our blog for the recipe of the cataplana dish that we cooked in that episode.
We also stopped by some local hot spots in Faro such as Se7e Pedras wine bar for a glass of the famously crisp portuguese white wine called Vinho verde.
ERRATUM: WE WISH TO SINCERELY APOLOGIZE TO COLUMBUS BAR AND BOTTLE BAR. The bar shown in the video where our basecampers are drinking porto is in fact Bottle bar and not Columbus bar. Our basecampers did visit each one and highly recommend both!

5 days in Faro, Portugal as an ESC Volunteer | Dovilė's first impression
Many years I've been dreaming to do my voluntary work abroad with ESC.
ESC is long term volunteering from two month till one year. All you need is to find an NGO which would be searching for a volunteer. Then to write them and be selected. Oh.. and you must be not younger than 18 and not older than 30. So my clock was ticking.
NGO's you can find in europa.eu. There I have my personal profile where I received monthly invitations to be a volunteer in some countries with its needs and programs.
Many many many times i send my CVs and Motivational letters to those NGO's I liked the description the most.. but Nothing.
And one day Miracle happened. Haha. When I felt lost in my life, even though I had my own office and I could easily start to run my own business.. I have found an email with invitation to fill application form, because I might fit in.
And yeah.. Now I am here.. :))
Finaaaaaally.. !
So my organisation gave me the task to explore the city and to find differences between the city I came from.
Well.. you know.. kinda everything is different.. haha.. well Now it seems like it.
So let's go with my Journey together and let's see what was my first impression of this city after 5 days living in Faro as a volunteer.
Can't wait to do my actual voluntary work.
See you soon. :)

Quinta Dos Vales Winery Portugal
We went to this winery in Southern Portugal and took a tour along with a tasting. The grounds are covered with sculptures made by the vineyard owner. The tour was great and Duarte, our sommelier, gave us the most thorough tasting experience!

Cycling Portugal (Lisbon - Faro)
While studying abroad in Istanbul for spring break I took a cycling trip in Portugal. I started in Lisbon, rented a bike and gear, and finished in Faro. Along the way I camped, and stayed at a friends place in Lagos. I had hoped stealth camp each night, but there ended up not being many great places along the way whenever I was ready to stop riding.
Trip took 5 days (1 rest day), 340 km, 20.5 hrs of riding, average speed 17.25km, max speed 48.78km.
Quinta dos Vales Winery, Estômbar, Algarve
Enjoy a guided tour and wine tasting at Quinta dos Vales winery in Estômbar, Lagoa in the heart of the Algarve on a Winelands Portugal break.
Quinta dos Vales welcomes all visitors with a special interest in wine and art.
Stroll through two sculpture gardens, with the largest outdoor sculpture exhibition which you will find South of Lisbon.
Wine tasting 'Quinta da Tor' - Algarve
We were invited by Quinta da Tôr to visit them and experience their authentic Algarve flavours!Everybody can come and learn more about their history and production processes, taste their wines while sitting next to the magnificent swimming pool and enjoying the magnificent view of the mountains. They offer various types of wine tasting - according to everyone's budget and taste - and of course you can buy the wines you appreciated the most by the end of the visit!
Faro in one minute
#Faro #Algarve #Portugal #IlhaDeserta
If you are looking for a cheap little getaway, think about Faro. Located in South Portugal makes the climate warm all the year-round. Ideal for wine lovers, surfers, and female solo travellers. Faro was my first official solo trip, and I truly enjoyed its historic architecture, beaches, and a trip to Ilha Deserta. Return tickets from the UK didn't cost me more than £50.

Faro Gateway to the Algarve
Faro is the gateway to the Algarve on the coast of southern Portugal and a lovely town to spend a few days to visit its many churches and museums and take a boat trip out to the national Park off the coast. Faro also has some excellent restaurants, cafes and bars to fully enjoy the wine and cuisine of one of Portugal's most appealing cities.
