Kokila -- A solo painting exhibition in Toronto
An Evening of Colour and Culture
Kokila, an Indo-Canadian artist who has exhibited in India and the Middle East, is holding her first solo show simply titled 'Kokila' in Toronto in July.
The vibrant colours of India where she grew up, the stark beauty of the Arabian deserts where she lived and worked as a journalist and the winter and fall hues of Canada, where she immigrated to, all find a place in the collection of paintings which will be on display at the Saviari Tea + Cocktail Lounge from July 20 until August 17, 2013.
For this show the selected pieces are acrylic on canvas because the medium suited her mood and the moment. Kokila also enjoys working with oils, watercolours, charcoal, pencils and crayons using brushes, knives, pieces of wood, paper you name it. She does not restrict herself to traditional means and convention -- she believes an artist has to be unfettered and express oneself freely.
