Orlando to Port Canaveral Transportation: Is a Private Car an Affordable Option?
If you have a large party and are considering taking your cruise line shuttle, consider booking a private town car, limo or van... It’s probably cheaper!
If your Cruise sails out of Port Canaveral, Florida, you are probably considering all the Orlando to Port Canaveral transportation options: rental car, cruise line bus, private car, shuttle, and Uber.
I recently compared the most popular options and will provide you with a list of “pros” and “cons” for each method of transportation.
You can find it at my Orlando to Port Canaveral Transportation Options guide:
================================================
IS PRIVATE CAR A BETTER OPTION THAN CRUISE BUS?
================================================
If you have a large party and are considering taking your cruise line shuttle, consider booking a private town car, limo or van. It’s probably cheaper! (See rate comparison here:
You’ll spend about the same amount of money but you’ll enjoy personal service from a private driver, a more comfortable ride, and more flexibility, as you will control the time of pickup and can even ask for a stop at a grocery store along the way.

MY REVIEW OF ACCESS LINE TRANSPORTATION'S PRIVATE CAR
================================================
I recently had the chance to take a Towncar from our hotel near the Orlando International Airport (MCO) to our cruise ship leaving from Port Canaveral.
The ride included a personal driver, a comfortable ride in an elegant new Lincoln Towncar, a bottle of water, and a free grocery stop along the way to pick up a few things I forgot to bring from home.
Simply put, the experience was awesome. Our driver was professional, knowledgeable, and a delight to talk to along the way.
If you take one of Access Line Transportation’s private cars, vans, or limousines, this is what you can expect:
- Your driver will pick you up on time at your hotel in the Orlando area or the Orlando International Airport.
- Your driver will greet you with a personal sign so you know the ride is for you.
- Your vehicle will be modern, comfortable, and air-conditioned with plenty of room for your luggage.
- They take care of all the tolls along the way.
- Your ride includes a free stop at a grocery store along the way. Our stop was at a Publix grocery store in Cocoa, Florida, just outside of the port terminal in Port Canaveral.
- Your driver will wait for you while you shop. This is a good chance to grab some snacks, motion sickness medicine, water bottles or other items you might have forgot to pack.
- Your private car driver will load your groceries for you.
- Before you know it, your ship will appear. The ride from the Orlando airport and surrounding hotels to Port Canaveral is about 45 minutes. I would plan on 60-70 minutes, depending on where you are picked up and if you need the grocery stop.
- Your driver will drop you off in front of the cruise terminal, very close to the entry, and will unload your bags for you.
- Porters from your cruise line will take your bags.
- And then you’re ready to set sail!
This same service is available on the return trip from Port Canaveral to Orlando.
Access Line Transportation gave me a complimentary ride from Orlando to Port Canaveral in exchange for this review. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

Access lynx in Orlando ,fl
Access lynx is a great service payed for by state and other funding to service the disabled in ride share small busses with wheelchair lifts , the service is mostly great , but they do have serious flaws as very rude dispatchers and racist drivers
I have been victim to this a few times already ,on the whole I thank God for even having this service. And should not be demeanored for the few..

Walkthrough Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure | Orlando, Florida | CaptainJack
Please subscribe if you like the content of this channel. Enjoy!
Our priority was to see and experience the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and we were NOT disappointed. Both parks (Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure) closes at 6 p.m. when we were there.
We stayed at Disney’s All Star Sport Resort as we were planning of spending more time in Disney and they have Disney Magical Express, which is a complimentary shuttle from/to the airport (MCO) to/from the hotel.
From Disney’s All Star Sports Resort, we took a taxi as other modes of transportation were time consuming. It was about $45. Other modes of transportation I know are Lynx bus and SupperShuttle.
NOTE: I have tried SupperShuttle from Los Angeles (LAX airport) to Disneyland in Anaheim. I can say it was efficient. I tried this one also in New York (JFK airport) to my hotel in Downtown NYC. I can say the one in New York was the most time consuming, probably because my hotel was in Downtown and so I was the second to the last being dropped off. The shuttle went into every hotel to drop off guests (nightmare). I could have taken a taxi or the subway, but since I had tried them in LAX, I thought why not and also it was just $18 one way. It took me 2-3 hours (cheeeeez). Taxi is about $65 to $70 tip added already (about an hour to 1-1/2 hours) and subway is about $8.50 ($6 AirTrain and $2.25 or $2.50 subway, about an hour to 1-1/2 hours also.
What to expect when visiting Universal In Orlando, Florida:
- Security before entering Universal CityWalk and the parks.
- You need a 2-park ticket to have access to Hogwarts Express (Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure). Both parks have Harry Potter, one has Hogsmead and the other has Diagon Alley.
- The queues in the rides were not too long.
- In the Harry Potter rides (Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Harry Potter and Escape from Grigotts), they have lockers where you need to put your stuff. The rides were awesome. You need to ride them.
- Don’t forget your Butterbeer.
- CityWalk is free. It has a lot of stores and restaurants inside. Walk around there after enjoying the parks.
- If you have limited time, like we had, enjoy first the rides or attractions you really want. Remember that Harry Potter is always jam-packed. Also, Hogwarts Express can be out of service, so when you have the chance and you want to experience it, do it first and go back if you missed anything and then go back again to save you some walking. It’s up to you. In our case, when it was out of service and we were in line, we thought it was the worst thing as we thought it’s not gonna come back in service and we just planned of spending one day in Universal, and also a 2-park ticket for one day is expensive and the park closes at 6 p.m. at that time.
- I suggest going to Universal when it’s not too hot as the heat will suck all your energy.
- If you forgot buying your souvenir inside the parks, there is a Universal store in CityWalk and also at the airport (MCO).
These are my suggested rides:
Islands of Adventure:
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
- Hogsmeade
- Hogwarts Express
Universal Studios Florida
- Harry Potter and Escape from Grigotts
- Diagon Alley
- Transformers
- The Mummy
Camera used: GoPro Hero 5 with gimbal.

2018 Amtrak Cross Country Train Trip - Florida to Oregon
Taking the train cross country was something I'd always wanted to do. A bucket list trip. So, I booked a one way ticket to Florida, and traveled back home to Oregon on the rail.
My goal was to document the trip, but it's hard to capture the full experience.
I talked a lot about my trip on the Experiences You Should Have podcast:
I thought it would be helpful to answer some questions:
// What Music Did You Use? //
Andy White:
Gramatik:
AllttA:
// How much did the trip cost? //
The train ticket was $369, coach seats the whole trip. Sleeper cars can range anywhere from $200 to as much as $1,000 per leg of the trip, depending on the time of year.
// How long did it take, and what was the route? //
The train left Orlando, Florida on Monday evening, and it arrives in Portland, Oregon on Friday Morning. So 4 nights total. My trip was a bit farther as I had to go from Portland, Oregon to Chemult, Oregon, which arrived Friday evening.
Orlando---Washington DC---Chicago---Portland
// Were you on the train the entire time? //
No. There were two extended layovers - one in Washington DC for about 9 hours. There is a metro station at Union Station - so easy access to get anywhere you need to go. In Chicago, my layover was about 5.5 hours. Enough time to get out, see some sights and get some food. You can check your bags at the train stations as well, for about $10.
// What were some must have items on the train? //
Ear plugs. Eye mask. Those two in particular. Ear plugs to drown out the noise of other passengers, the noise of the train on the rails, the train horn. Crucial. Eye mask because there are lights in the train at night. It's dim like an airplane would be, but still lighting here and there.
Snacks. Tablet. Headphones. Chargers. Each seat has 2 110V outlets, and each of the tables in the observation cars do as well, so power is never an issue. Neck pillow. Blanket.
// You didn't mention the food. How was the food? //
I would say that train food is slightly better than airplane food. The menu in the dining car on all of the trains was the same - so it did get a bit old. For breakfast, prices ranged from $8 to $14, lunch $12-$15 and dinner $16-$25. There is also a snack bar that has candy, snacks, drinks (beer and wine), as well as some sandwiches and burgers. The service in the dining car was very good, and the staff were all very friendly. Traveling alone, meals in the dining car were always fun because you're typically paired with 1-3 strangers. So you're typically exchanging stories for around an hour. Here is a link to the dining page on Amtrak:
// Sleeping in coach. Was it that bad? //
I'd say, yes. If it were an overnight trip, not so bad. Even 2 nights. But by night 3 and 4 - it started to take a toll. The first 2 nights of the trip I had someone in the seat right next to me. That changes the experience quite a bit, as it's pretty close quarters. Having two seats to yourself makes a pretty big difference. Not in comfort as much as just feeling a bit of privacy. Comfort wise, it's just difficult to really get comfortable in those seats. There's not really any getting around that. Ear plugs and and eye mask are pretty invaluable.
// How were the bathrooms? Were there showers? //
The bathrooms were similar to an airplane bathroom. And there were plenty of bathrooms, so you never felt like you had to hurry, or had someone waiting for you. There was also a larger bathroom with a bit more space with a changing area. No showers. There are showers in the sleeper cars if you went that route.
// What about your belongings? Were they safe? //
I had a backpack with camera gear, tablet, headphones, chargers, etc. that I kept with me 90% of the time. Generally, I felt like my things would have been safe on my seat - but better safe than sorry. My carry on luggage (airplane overhead bin size) - I kept in storage racks on the bottom level of the train. In theory, anyone could have grabbed it and stepped off the train at their stop, but it made it with me the whole trip.

Driving on Interstate 10 Across Entire State of Texas (timelapse)
Interstate 10 (I-10) is the major east–west Interstate Highway in the Southern United States. In the U.S. state of Texas, it runs east from Anthony, at the border with New Mexico, through El Paso, San Antonio and Houston to the border with Louisiana in Orange, Texas. At just under 880 miles (1,420 km), the Texas segment of I-10, maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation, is the longest continuous untolled freeway in North America that is operated by a single authority, a title formerly held by Ontario Highway 401. It is also the longest stretch of highway with a single designation within a single state. Mile marker 880 and its corresponding exit number in Orange, Texas are the highest numbered mile marker and exit on any freeway in North America, with Interstate 5 in California coming in second with mile marker 796 and corresponding exit. After widening was completed in 2008, a portion of the highway west of Houston is now also believed to be the widest in the world, at 26 lanes. There is a wider section in China on the G4 Beijing–Hong Kong–Macau Expressway, however that section is a toll plaza approach.[2]
More than a third of I-10's entire length is located in Texas alone. El Paso, near the Texas–New Mexico state line, is 785 miles (1,263 km) from the western terminus of I-10 in Santa Monica, California, making it closer to Los Angeles than it is to Orange, Texas, 857 miles (1,379 km) away at the Texas–Louisiana state line. Likewise, Orange is only 789 miles (1,270 km) from the eastern terminus of I-10 in Jacksonville, Florida.
