Cruisin' the Caribbean! Check out our vacation from Royal Caribbean, Freedom of the Seas this year. We booked a cruise through Royal Caribbean that left out of San Juan (Puerto Rico), also our new home! We stayed for a week in San Juan at the time before boarding the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas that made stops in St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Lucia and Barbados before heading back to San Juan Puerto Rico.

Things to do in Puerto Rico - When you arrive, you are likely to stay in San Juan. You have options between Condado, Isla Verde, and Old San Juan. Stay in or near Old San Juan! Plentiful Travel has many recommendations for San Juan, Puerto Rico. Things to do in Antigua - Antigua is a treasure of the Caribbean. On your next Caribbean cruise, make sure to take one that stops in Antigua and check out the white sand beaches of Jolly Harbour. Beware that the jetski rental will scam you!

Things to do in St Marteen - Divided into two sides, French and Dutch, you have your choice on creating your experience. One of the best things to do and see on a Caribbean cruise is the planes landing at Maho Beach. You can take a taxi (expensive) but what we learned is to travel like locals. There is a bus stop about a quarter mile from the cruise port in St Marteen. It costs somewhere under $5 per person for transportation to Maho Beach, and the same going back. There is a great Caribbean style bar at Maho Beach with great drinks and a great atmosphere.

Things to do in St Kitts - Make this your relax at the beach destination and splurge a little on a nice beach chair and umbrella. At South Friars Bay in St Kitts, they have a convenient restaurant and beach club where they sell chilled wine, floats, etc for not very expensive. You can easily spend a couple hours there enjoying the Caribbean sea before heading back to the cruise.

Things to do in St Lucia - In St Lucia, you have plenty of options of white sand beaches. We recommend Marigot Bay for exclusivity and lush landscapes. Stop and do a rum tasting and grab some local soursop along the way! This was a favorite stop of Plentiful Travel.

Puerto Rico Vacation At Caribe Hilton

In this video, you can see ZippyKnights start off our vacation in and around the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Next, we go on the Traveler Catamaran and Snorkeling Tour where you will see some cool underwater footage of the coral reef, a sting ray and tropical fish using the GoPro Hero 7 Black.

Later in the week, we visited Castillo San Felipe del Morro El Morro which is a huge fort built in the early 1500's in Old San Juan and had lunch at Chocobar Cortes.

We finished our vacation excursions at the El Yunque National Forest which is a rain forest. You can see a 360 view from the top of the tower of the rain-forest, a cool waterfall and some footage of our time jumping from the rocks into the river.

On my second afternoon in San Juan, Puerto Rico in partnership with the Intercontinental San Juan, I explored Old San Juan on foot and then we ate some delicious Puerto Rican Sushi!

My friend Mariel de Viaje and I explored all the must see's in Old San Juan. From San Cristobal Castle to El Morro Castle. They are both incredible structures built by the Spanish over 400 years ago.

We also tried some Caribbean Ice Cream of Pina and Coconut, it was so refreshing and tasted more like sorbet then ice cream. From there we explored more of Old San Juan and found the best instagram worthy image of the Puerto Rican flag mural.

Next we drove back to the hotel to have dinner at restaurant Sak-I, a Japanese-Latin fusion restaurant at the Intercontinental San Juan. We had a few amazing rolls and sake. It was all so good!

So I walk you through how it was in PR. We stayed at Caribe Hilton in San Juan. The hotel overall was beautiful and pretty. Starting with the fact that it had its own private beach! It had several pools however who needs a pool when you have a gorgeous beach to be in at least that's what we said smiling from ear to ear. So check out my craziness video of this week since I will be working on having more coming up this week. We need to get back in the kitchen so many yummy recipes to share and my diet has changed and my workouts have become more intense so we will talk about that soon. We will be talking about different unboxing and products and to see if they go with your skin type yesssss we are going there hahaha but hope you enjoy this video as there will be plenty more coming up soon.

Cruise Ports - San Juan, Puerto Rico

Get a glimpse of the beautiful city and cruise port of San Juan, Puerto Rico. There's lots to see and do during your cruise visit, see the Barcadi Factory, tour the fortifications of del Morro, take a dip on gorgeous sun kissed beaches, take a stroll around Old San Juan enjoying the Spanish architecture, and don't forget to try the many delicious foods and restaurants.

Caribbean Travels - San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan, Puerto Rico is a great starting point for a vacation. There's something for everyone - whether you plan to spend your entire holiday in Puerto Rico or fly there to take a cruise. We decided to take a cruise for our honeymoon and flew to Puerto Rico a few days early . This gave us time to relax and enjoy a beautiful island with lots of time to prepare for boarding our cruise.

We flew into San Juan and then took a short taxi ride to Carolina which is where you will find the beach area of Isla Verde. We booked two private condos at the ESJ Towers through Chana Cohen esjtowers.net and were very pleased with our accommodation. Since we were travelling with a party of ten, we needed two condos and ended up with one three bedroom and one two bedroom unit which both overlooked the ocean. They were really well appointed and came complete with living area, balcony, complete kitchen and laundry facilities in the two bedroom unit. Needless to say our kids were really happy!

I first stayed at ESJ Towers many years ago and had great memories from that trip to Puerto Rico. I certainly was not disappointed. Even though it is not fancy, it is in a great location and had all the amenities that we required. The building is right on the beach which is a beautiful stretch of golden sand. For those who like to keep busy instead of sunning on there beach there was plenty to do. Parasailing was available as well as catamaran and jet ski rentals. There were beach vendors if you got hungry and umbrellas and chairs were available for rent.

The building also has a great pool area with lots of shade, change room facilities and plenty of room for all the guests. An additional benefit was the ideal location. We took a short walk down the laneway to get to the main area where you can find all kinds of restaurants, a Walgreen's and even groceries if you plan to do your own cooking.

We opted for an authentic Puerto Rican dinner and weren't disappointed. A couple overhead our dilemma about where to eat and suggested that we might want to try the Metropol which was just a short walk from our condo. It certainly is a popular restaurant with great atmosphere, and even though we showed up on a Saturday night with a party of ten, they were happy to accommodate us. We were very impressed with the service as well as the blend of Cuban and Puerto Rican cuisine. For those who like nightlife, there is plenty to do in the area. Right next door to ESJ Towers is the El San Juan Hotel and further down the road are other hotels with evening entertainment and dancing. All in all, choosing to stay in San Juan a few days prior to our cruise was a great way to start our honeymoon!
