Action Park was an amusement and water park located in Vernon, New Jersey, on the grounds of the Vernon Valley/Great Gorge ski resort. The park consisted primarily of water-based attractions and originally opened to the public in 1978 under the ownership of Great American Recreation (GAR).[1]
Action Park featured three separate attraction areas: the Alpine Center, Motorworld, and Waterworld. The latter was one of the first modern American water parks.[2] Many of its attractions were unique, attracting thrill-seekers from across the New York metropolitan area. Action Park's popularity went hand-in-hand with a reputation for poorly designed rides, under-trained, under-aged staff,[3] intoxicated guests and staff, and a consequently poor safety record. At least six people are known to have died as a result of mishaps on rides at the park, and it was given nicknames such as Traction Park,[3] Accident Park, and Class Action Park.[4] Little effort was made by state regulators despite a history of repeat violations. In its later years, personal injury lawsuits led to the closure of more and more rides, and eventually the entire park in 1996.
On February 9, 1998, resort developer Intrawest announced the purchase of the majority of the Vernon Valley/Great Gorge ski area, including Action Park and other developable real estate lands that GAR owned.[5] After a massive overhaul, which included revamping rides and removing attractions deemed either outright unsafe or inappropriate relative to Intrawest's vision of the park,[6] the waterpark was reopened as Mountain Creek Waterpark.

During a family holiday in Bulgaria I got a chance to fly in the waterpark next to our hotel. I had a total of 6 flights spread out over 1 hour in the park which was pure joy. The staff were very helpful and kept out the way until I gave the all clear so we were in a controlled and safe area.
This water park is AWESOME! and not just for FPV flying. The slides are very well made and maintained along with the excellent English speaking lifeguards and staff make this an incredible holiday destination.

Action Aqua Park in Sunny Beach resort has 30 different water attractions, pools, mini zoo, bars and restaurants and has a lazy river to gently see the views around the park.
This is great fun and safe, with plenty of sunbeds to chose from. The only down side is there is no lockers, but we found it to be safe leaving our stuff on the beds and heading off to the slides.
There is a free shuttle bus that takes you to and from the main road of sunny beach to the aqua park. Be sure to know where you got on as there are several bus stops outside the park and getting on the wrong bus will take you to a different location. Bus drivers are extremely helpful - make sure to shout out your hotel name and they tell you which bus stop to wait at.
All in all a great park for both the young and old as like.
