Places to see in ( Caernarfon - UK )
Caernarfon is a royal town, community, and port in Gwynedd, Wales. Caernarfon lies along the A487 road, on the eastern shore of the Menai Strait, opposite the Isle of Anglesey. The city of Bangor is 8.6 miles (13.8 km) to the north-east, while Snowdonia fringes Caernarfon to the east and south-east. Carnarvon and Caernarvon are Anglicised spellings that were superseded in 1926 and 1974, respectively. The villages of Bontnewydd and Caeathro are close by.
In the 13th century, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, ruler of Gwynedd, refused to pay homage to Edward I of England, prompting the English conquest of Gwynedd. This was followed by the construction of Caernarfon Castle, one of the largest and most imposing fortifications built by the English in Wales. In 1284, the English-style county of Caernarfonshire was established by the Statute of Rhuddlan; the same year, Caernarfon was made a borough, a county and market town, and the seat of English government in North Wales.
The ascent of the House of Tudor to the throne of England eased hostilities between the English and resulted in Caernarfon Castle falling into a state of disrepair. The city has flourished, leading to its status as a major tourist centre and seat of Gwynedd Council, with a thriving harbour and marina. Caernarfon has expanded beyond its medieval walls and experienced heavy suburbanisation. Its population includes the largest percentage of Welsh-speaking citizens anywhere in Wales. The status of Royal Borough was granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1963 and amended to Royal Town in 1974. The castle and town walls are part of a World Heritage Site described as the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd.
Caernarfon is situated on the southern bank of the Menai Strait facing the Isle of Anglesey. It is situated 8.6 miles (13.8 km) south-west of Bangor, 19.4 miles (31.2 km) north of Porthmadog and approximately 8.0 miles (12.9 km) west of Llanberis and Snowdonia National Park. Caernarfon was at one time an important port, exporting slate from the Dyffryn Nantlle quarries. A temporary Caernarfon railway station in St. Helen's Road is the northern terminus of the narrow gauge Rheilffordd Eryri / Welsh Highland Railway. Work began on a permanent station for the town in February 2017. The new station is expected to be open to passengers in Spring 2018. Caernarfon Airport is 4.5 miles (7.2 km) to the south west, and offers pleasure flights and an aviation museum.

PREPAR3D 2.4: A2A Cessna 182 - UK Tour - Leg 3 - EGCK to EGNC
The third leg of my UK tour in the new A2A Cessna 182 using PREPAR3D.
I'll be using this tour to get familiar with the aircraft response and improve my VFR and (non-existent) IFR skills.
Some strong (probably too strong..) crosswinds on this leg. Managed to successfully navigate using a couple of VORs too which felt like a nice achievement as it's the first time I've done that successfully (baby steps..) and a terrible landing :/

WALES AND UNITED KINGDOM RECOVERY WALK 2011 DRUGS AND ALCOHOL RECOVERY WALES & UNITED KINGDOM
WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY IN CARDIFF, WALES SEPT 2011 OVER A 1000 PEOPLE MARCHING IN THE CAPITAL CITY PROMOTING RECOVERY FROM DRUGS AND ALCOHOL. EIGHT OF US WENT FROM CHOOSELIFE AND WE ALL HEARD REAL LIFE RECOVERY STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD. RECOVERY FROM HEROIN AND ALCOHOL AND LOTS OF OTHER ADDICTIONS. WE HAVE TO TRY AND TAKE AWAY THE STIGMA THAT IS ATTACHED TO THESE PEOPLE AND TRY AND GET SOCIETY TO SEE THAT THESE ARE REAL PEOPLE WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE GONE DOWN THE WRONG PATH. YET WITH A LITTLE BIT OF SUPPORT CAN BE POSITIVE AND ACTIVE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITIES...THIS VIDEO IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE PEOPLE THAT WE WORK WITH. IT INCLUDES STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS, THOSE THAT ARE ABSTINENT AND THOSE STILL STRUGGGLING WITH THEIR ADDICTION......Heroin addiction is plaguing our society as heroin addicts have to fund their heroin habits. The path of addiction start much earlier on in someone's life. Cigarettes are definitely a gateway drug and normally opens the door to cannabis. I really believe that cannabis is the most deceptive drug that there is. We all know that heroin kills people yet cannabis sends a message that it is an okay drug, well it is not. For most heroin users once the heroin is out of their system they then have to learn recovery techniques to overcome their habitual practises and remain consequence free from the drug. Yet when you give up cannabis the THC in the drug deposits itself in brain cells and you can suffer from flashbacks and panic attacks years later. Cannabis is not a safe drug...Cannabis is not a safe drug... Cannabis is not a safe drug....This video is designed to encourage you whether you live in Wales, England, Ireland , Scotland or anyone of those countries in the United kingdom or even mainland Europe. There is no part of the United Kingdom that is unaffected by drugs, from cannabis to heroin. If you are either addicted to or affected by cigarettes, cannabis, barbiturates downers, crack, heroin, opiates, methadone, subutex, methamphetamine, cocaine, meow meow, mephadrone, legal highs, alcohol, ketamine, ghb, solvents, there is life after addiction and it starts today in your journey of recovery. If you have overcome an addiction, please send us a message to encourage other people who are struggling to overcome their addiction......Please contact us and join in our, recovery in community....

About James Ketchell
James is a serial adventurer, motivational speaker and Scouting ambassador.
On 1st February 2014, James became the first and only person to have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world.
Seven years prior to all this, he was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident that left him with broken legs as well as a severely broken and dislocated ankle. The prognosis was that he was likely to suffer a permanent walking impairment and would certainly not be able to continue the active physical lifestyle he had enjoyed up to that point.
In September 2019 James Ketchell became the first person to fly a gyroplane around the world under FAI rules in 175 days.

King Edward's I Fortresses and Castels England Travel
King Edward's I Fortresses and Castels England Travel - Harlech Castle, located in Harlech, Gwynedd, Wales, is a concentric castle, constructed atop a cliff close to the Irish Sea. Architecturally, it is particularly notable for its massive gatehouse.
Built by King Edward I during his conquest of Wales, the castle was subject to several assaults and sieges during its period of active use as a fortification. The castle served as the defacto capital of an independent Wales between 1404 and 1409 when it was held by Owain Glyndwr. The later seven-year siege of the castle, during the Wars of the Roses,[1] has been memorialised in the famous song Men of Harlech.
Beaumaris Castle, located in Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales was built as part of King Edward Is campaign to conquer the north of Wales. It was designed by James of St. George and was begun in 1295, but never completed. Beaumaris has been designated as a World Heritage site.
Conwy Castle (Medieval English: Conway Castle; Welsh: Castell Conwy) is a castle in Conwy, on the north coast of Wales. It was built between 1283 and 1289 [1] during King Edward Is second campaign in North Wales.
Conwy replaced Deganwy Castle, an earlier stronghold built by Henry III that had been destroyed by Llywelyn the Last in 1263.

St Tudno's Church, Llandudno, Wales
Croeso i Eglwys Sant Tudno
28 September, 2018, 12 noon
St. Tudno’s Church on the Great Orme has been a site of Christian worship since the 6th century, when the Celtic monk Tudno (pronounced “Tidno”) brought the word of God to the people here.
St. Tudno’s is a place of pilgrimage, peace and prayer and is an active place of worship within the Parish of Llandudno. Services include the popular open air services during the summer, which have been celebrated since at least 1857. Monthly services are held during winter, including Carols by Candlelight and the Easter Vigil, and there are special celebrations on St. Tudno’s Day, 5 June.
St. Tudno founded his cell on the Great Orme in the sixth century but no trace of the original building remains. The present church was built in the 12th century and part of the north wall remains from this time, while the rest of the structure dates from a 15th century extension.

3.8 Earthquake in Wales
A small earthquake measuring 3.8 in magnitude hit north Wales in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The tremor centred on the Llyn peninsula in Gwynedd.
The British Geological Survey (BGS) said the centre point was between the seaside towns of Aberdaron and Nefyn.
People living as far away as Southport, Merseyside, the Isle of Man and Dublin, the Irish capital, reported intense shaking at 04:16 BST, but there were no reports of damage or injury.
More than 100 reports from people who felt the earthquake have been made to the BGS, who said the majority were within a 100km radius.
Dr Brian Baptie, head of seismology at the BGS, said the size of the tremor was not unusual for the UK.
We get an earthquake of this size in the UK maybe once or twice every couple of years, he told BBC Radio Wales.
We also know that north Wales is one of the more silently active parts of the UK. It's got a long history of earthquakes over the past few hundred years.
Dr Baptie said the rumblings that residents felt were consistent with an earthquake of this size.
He added: It might be felt up to a few hundred kilometres away, people could feel the house shake, they could hear audible phenomena like rumbling, and maybe objects would rattle.
Graham Williams, of Pentir, near Bangor, told BBC Radio Wales: I woke up to a cracking sound and realised the house was shaking.
I could hear a low rumble for about 15 seconds and then it stopped.
Kevin Clark, of Llynfais, Anglesey, said the tremor came as a bit of a shock.
I was fast asleep this morning and it sounded like a train running around the outside of the house, he said.
And considering in Anglesey where we are there's no train, it was a bit of a shock, and the whole place was shaking and rumbling, like a deep rumbling sound.
He added that his 14-year-old daughter woke up to find her chandelier-style light shaking violently.
North Wales was also hit by a smaller earthquake in Caernarfon in February, of 2.3 magnitude.
The latest tremor is just a few miles from the point on the Llyn peninsula where an earthquake struck in July 1984 with a magnitude of 5.4.
It was the most powerful recorded in mainland Britain in the past 200 years.
Dr Baptie said there was no evidence to suggest the number of earthquakes was increasing.
All of the data we've collected over the last 30 or 40 years, and historical data going back hundreds of years, doesn't bear that out at all, he added.
Caernarfon Bypass - Goat roundabout - Active Travel failure.
The continuity of National Cycle Route 8 at the village of Llanwnda will be negatively impaired by a failure to provide a traffic separated crossing at the Goat roundabout. Non motorised users will be expected to cross two roads, contrary to the spirit of the Active Travel legislation that demands of itself that any new road projects should retain or enhance provision for walking, cycling and disability travel.
