The Adachi Museum of Art 足立美術館 opened in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, Japan in 1970.
Japanese gardens 日本庭園 are traditional gardens that create miniature idealized landscapes, often in a highly abstract and stylized way.
Set in a beautiful natural environment, Adachi Museum of Art is well known for its superb Japanese gardens.
Adachi Zenko, the museum's founder, traveled all across Japan, collecting pine trees and rocks for the landscape gardens and putting his heart and soul into their creation. The six gardens, with about 165,000 square meters in total, show you various sceneries by season. You can enjoy the beautiful harmony of nature through art.

The beautiful Adachi Museum of Art, located in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture, was founded in the hopes of combining natural garden beauty with artwork to increase interest and appreciation in Japanese art. The founder, Adachi Zenko, created the museum in 1980, utilizing his passion for Japanese art and landscaping.
The award winning garden at Adachi Museum of Art is a sight visitors do not want to miss. Deservingly it has received the best garden award in Japan every since 2003. The flowers, leaves, etc., change according to the season, allowing visitors to enjoy its beauty throughout the year. However, the garden can only be viewed from the museum building.
The art exhibits in the Adachi Museum of Art also change seasonally. The museum is home to nearly 1300 twentieth century paintings and artworks. In addition to rotating collection, the museum has a permanent display of paintings by Yokoyama Taikan. There is also a ceramics exhibit.
Hours: 9:00 to 17:30 (until 17:00 from October to March)
Closed: Opened all Year Round
Admission: 2300 yen (50% off for foreign visitors)
Access Information:
**From Matsue Station, take a train to Yasugi Station. The journey is about 20 minutes and the cost is 410 yen (Japan Rail Pass holders can utilize their Rail Pass here).
From Yasugi Station, board the free shuttle bus to the museum. There is one shuttle bus every hour. The bus ride is about 20 minutes.
**From Okayama, there are limited express trains that stop at Yasugi Station before proceeding to Matsue City.

This is PART ONE of six vlogs that I will post from my visit today to the Adachi Museum of Art in Yasugi, Shimane, Japan.
I know that a 6-part series on an art museum is not exactly what some of you come to this channel to see, but these files are large HD files that my old iBook G4 can't really handle, so instead of trying to edit them together into 2 longer 10-min movies in iMovie, I'm just gonna throw all six parts up in a row.

The Adachi Museum of Art (足立美術館, Adachi Bijutsukan) opened in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, Japan in 1970. It houses a collection of modern Japanese art, including paintings by Taikan Yokoyama, and has a celebrated garden.Its 6 gardens and around 1,500 exhibits of Japanese paintings, pottery, and other works of art occupy the 165,000 square-meter area. Adachi Museum of Art earned the top rating of three stars in Michelin Green Guide Japan because of its elegance.

Shimane prefecture is located on the southwest side of Japan’s main Honshu Island.
In Shimane, we will visit Izumo Taisha, a big shrine that is famous for its giant sized sacred rope, and then the Matsue, Yasugi, and Miho Areas.
My channel, Japan Silhouette, features beautiful scenery, traditional culture, Origami arrangement, and the warm heart of the Japanese people.
I also visit other countries and record my impression about them, perhaps from a Japanese perspective.

Part 6 of 6. I end the day in the nice cafe they have at the museum. They also have a nice tea room which overlooks one of the gardens.

岛根县安来市的足立美术馆（Adachi Museum），其结合自然美景的艺术庭园更为来访者们增添了对日本艺术的兴致和欣赏。1980年，创始人足立全康将其个人对于日本艺术及庭园欣赏的热爱建设了足立美术馆。
足立美术馆的庭园是游客绝对不想错过的景色。足立庭园自2003年以来一直获得日本庭园最优秀奖。鲜花和绿叶等随着季节的变化而变化，并整年都可以欣赏其美丽的风景。但是需注意的是，欣赏庭园美景只能在美术馆大楼内进行。
足立美术馆也会随着季节性的变化季节性地举办画展。美术馆收藏有二十世纪的画作及艺术品近1300件。除循环展之外，美术馆还有画家横山大观（Yokoyama Taikan）的常规展。且另还设有陶艺展。

交通讯息：
**在松江车站，乘坐电车至安来(Yasugi)车站。车程大约为20分钟，票价410日元（持有JR Pass通票者可以享受通票）。在安来车站乘坐免费专车前往美术馆。专车每一小时一班，车程约为20分钟。
**从冈山车站，可以乘坐特快在到达松江市之前的安来站下车。
