Adelaide hills bush fire 2015
Spent the day covering the devastating bush fires that have gone out of control in the Adelaide Hills. This is some of the vision caught on my car dash cam, some of the locations look more like a scene from Apocalypse Now. The South Australian emergency services have done a fantastic job saving hundreds of homes.

Across the last 4 months GWA has ran a few Grain Trains though the Adelaide Hills to Tailem Bend & Keith. They have used plenty of different locomotives upfront including G's, 22's, CL's, ALF's, FQ's & GWA's to haul their 4000+ ton trains up grades as steep as 1 in 44.
Southern Shorthaul Railroad also ran a train though the Adelaide Hills with Quad C classes which features at the end of the video climbing though the Valley at Petwood.

PN Freight 6MP5 rescues failed 4PM6 in the Adelaide Hills
Around 0620 on Saturday the 16th of June 2018 Pacific National Intermodal 4PM6 (NR77/AN8) from Perth to Melbourne failed between Eden Hills Railway Station & Sleeps Hill Tunnel. Serval hours later Pacific National locomotives ex 6MP5 (NR39/G530/NR99) arrived from Belair to pull the service to Melbourne. Later 4PM6 is seen at Glenalta after a short stop near Eden Hills Tunnel and Belair where the MP5 crew was left to await its new locomotives from Adelaide running as D213s. Once D213s arrived with 8211/NR57/NR62 the crew coupled the new locos to the MP5 consist and departed heading for Adelaide.
I believe 4PM6 failed due to NR77 which seemed to be dead attached.

Adelaide Hills Rail Action - 22nd October 2016
On 22nd October 2016, 6MP9 SCT service with SCT009, SCT006, SCT004, SCT013 came to a stand near Bridgewater, South Australia after a coupler failure between SCT009 and SCT006.
The following Aurizon service, 6MP1 with 6021, LDP005, 2202 was coupled to the rear of MP9 to help hold it on the 1 in 45 (2.2%) grade. SCT009 then went light engine to Mt. Lofty as D172S and stabled on the goods siding.
After the crew returned to their train, 6MP1 was used to assist 6MP9 to Mt. Lofty. Where 6MP1 was uncoupled from the rear.
First we get SCT009 as it passes through Bridgewater. We then stay there for the combined 6MP9 and 6MP1. Next we head up to Mt. Lofty and get 6MP1 as it makes a standing start on the 1 in 45 grade and pulls down the main line to await line clearance of MP9.
