5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Dubrovnik | Croatia Day Tours Guide
5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Dubrovnik, Europe
Blessed with a stunning location on the Adriatic Sea, Dubrovnik is surrounded by rewarding day trip destinations. Just offshore, wooded islands punctuate the clear waters, with sleepy villages; calm, pebbly beaches; and time-worn monasteries and churches. Sailing trips are a popular way to explore these beautiful islands. Along the coast, red-roofed villas cascade down hillsides in picturesque towns such as Cavtat, and foodies will love the Peljesac Peninsula, with its patchwork of farms and succulent shellfish and oysters. Be sure to bring your passport; Dubrovnik is just a short drive away from the diminutive country of Montenegro, where you can soak up the hypnotic beauty of its tiny villages and hike amid pine-covered mountain peaks. And for history and culture vultures, Mostar in Bosnia Herzegovina outshines its battle-scarred past with its welcoming locals and picturesque old town on the banks of the Neretva River. Here five day trips from Dubrovnik, Croatia.

2. Cavtat

Head south to diminutive coastal Montenegro on this day trip from Dubrovnik. Take a scenic drive on the southern Dalmatian Coast and experience small Adriatic villages and towns, including the UNESCO-listed Kotor, situated in Europe’s southernmost fjord. Admire Sveti Stefan, a medieval island turned luxury hotel, and spend some time in Budva, a walled medieval town on the sea, like a mini Dubrovnik. Finish with a ferry ride back to Dubrovnik. Get picked up at your hotel in Dubrovnik and then hop inside the air-conditioned vehicle to make the drive south to Montenegro. Drink in the views of the Adriatic Sea and the Dubrovnik Riviera and learn about the history and culture of the area from your local guide. After crossing the border to Montenegro, twist and turn with the road, going around the large Bay of Kotor, and passing through charming villages along the way. Then stop in Perast, a lovely town at the base of St Elijah Hill. Consider taking the optional boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks island to check out the baroque-era church (at own expense). The next stop is Kotor, situated in a fjord and one of the most eye-pleasing Montenegrin towns. Once there, begin a walking tour that goes throughout the squares and narrow cobbled streets, taking you to historic churches such as the Cathedral of St Tryphon. Then take some free time to do some wandering — consider marching up the 1,350 steep steps to the San Giovanni Castle for an incredible view and photo opportunity — or sit down for a drink or a snack (at own expense). After Kotor, drive down the coast further until you reach Sveti Stefan (St Stephen). Once a medieval fishing village with a small inlet connecting it to the mainland, Sveti Stefani is now a luxury hotel. After gawking at the island-turned-resort, head to Budva, a 15-minute drive north of Sveti Stefan. This gorgeous walled city on the sea boasts attractive beaches and narrow cobbled streets. Take some free time to explore or sit down for a meal (at own expense). Take a ferry ride across the Bay of Kotor and then enjoy a final scenic drive along the coastal roads of Montenegro to end your day. You’ll be returned to your Dubrovnik hotel.
Montenegro Day Trip from Dubrovnik, Croatia
Set off on a day trip from Dubrovnik to Montenegro.
Get out of Dubrovnik for the day and head south to the diminutive country of Montenegro on this guided tour. Get acquainted with Montenegro’s must-see sights, stopping first in the small town of Perast for a brief tour and to take a ferry to gawk at a Baroque-era church plopped improbably in the middle of the Bay of Kotor. Then arrive in the medieval-walled town of Kotor, home to Europe’s southernmost fjord, for a guided tour and some free time. Return to Dubrovnik in the evening.

Your Tour: Balkans and Adriatic Explorer, September 2019
This tour is a longer version of our popular Beautiful Balkans Adventure. We added rest days in Durmitor National Park and in the beautiful coastal town of Rovinj. The main addition is Zadar, the city on Croatia's Dalmatian coast, known for the Roman and Venetian ruins on its peninsular old town. From Zadar we'll boat to Kornati Island National Park, a fabulous Archipelago and UNESCO World Heritage site.
This is a tour of great diversity, amazing landscapes, outstanding historical sights and fantastic riding. At the same time it gives you a lot of time to relax by the beautiful Adriatic Sea and enjoy tasteful Mediterranean cuisine and wines. On this tour we will ride through Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.

Dubrovnik, Croatia: Pearl of the Adriatic
More info about travel to Dubrovnik: Confined within its walls as it has been for centuries, Dubrovnik juts out from the rocky Croatian coastline looking inviting from both the land and the sea. Though the war killed tourism in the 1990s, today the crowds are most decidedly back. And understandably so — Dubrovnik is a living fairy tale that shouldn't be missed.

CRAZY DUBROVNIK STORIES | Old City Walking Tour | Sail Croatia Day 3 of 8
Dubrovnik has some crazy history so today we made our way from the port and took a walking tour of the old city. Sail Croatia... ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
A walking tour of Dubrovnik seemed like the best way to learn about the old town, the city history, the walls and castle development and just how the old town came to be. We weren't wrong. Beyond the Game of Thrones fame, Dubrovnik has an incredible past.
History ranging from attacks, bombs, fires and more have shaped the city of Dubrovnik to where it is today. This tour was only an hour long and gave us so much insight into Croatia as a whole, while also providing a great tour of the Dubrovnik town inside the walls as well.
This is day 3 of our Sail Croatia Explorer Cruise and we LOVE IT! We were docked in the Dubrovnik Port, well actually it's Port Gruz, and made our way in to the city for one of the optional excursions provided by Sail Croatia.
Sail Croatia is known for it's Navigator cruise, it's more tailored towards the party vibe and younger crowds. We were so pleased to hear they also offer multiple other cruises and the Explorer cruise was right up our alley! Check out the Sail Croatia Explorer Cruise here:

Dubrovnik Historic Town Gate to Gate - ???????? Croatia - 4K Virtual Tour
A late warm summer walk in Dubrovnik, Croatia from the East-Gate to the West-Gate. Click here ▶ to see highlights and guide.
The 'Pearl of the Adriatic', situated on the Dalmatian coast, became an important Mediterranean sea power from the 13th century onwards. Although severely damaged by an earthquake in 1667, Dubrovnik managed to preserve its beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains. Damaged again in the 1990s by armed conflict, it is now the focus of a major restoration programme coordinated by UNESCO.
Even after these disrupting life events the city recovered to an excellent historic state. Old Town and its many sights (including the well-preserved city walls along which you can walk) is one of the top attractions here. The Old Town is also famous for both of the entrance gates, St. Blaise, or Jesuit Staircase from the Game of Thrones series, seen in this walking video!

Ok, when you see dolphins in the sea you can’t possibly stay calm. Those beautiful creatures have the power to make you feel instantly happy. Yesterday, the skipper of Adriatic Explore travel agency had the honour of being in the company of this magnificent being. A lovely dolphin was following skipper Ivan for almost an hour: “I was really surprised because I didn’t expect that. But I was excited and glad that I had this experience, which is unusual for this region”, says Ivan. Can you imagine a better tour companion?
