Arriving in Split, Croatia! Today we travel from Zagreb To Split on a bus and see more of Croatia and it's coast line in this vlog.. ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇ Learn to travel full-time:
Welcome to Split! We've heard so much about this little coastal town in Croatia that we knew we'd have to travel here soon. Fortunately grabbing a bus or train is easy via so we had a cheap and easy bus ride!
Split is definitely a beautiful place, the old streets have a lot of charm but it's got that coastal Croatian feel that you just can't avoid! Hopefully that comes across in this travel vlog anyway, it was Sep 2018 we visited.
Travel to Split seems really straight forward because of it's popularity and there is always a bus or boat coming and going! Getting in and out of the city is definitely straight forward and for the most part our journey from Zagreb To Split was painless.

Is Flixbus from Budapest to Zagreb any good? Sad to be leaving Hungary, but Croatia is next if this Flix Bus travel...⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇ Learn to travel full-time:
Today we depart Budapest on a bus to Zagreb. We've used Flixbus a few times now, generally it's a good travel day and the bus is nice enough, but today we did hit a few hiccups passing from Hungary boarder into Croatia. To be fair, thats a travel day though and as you can see from the vlog it wasn't really a big deal. Also, the delays arriving into Croatia aren't really the fault of Flix bus at all.
Regardless, we're in Zagreb and excited to share more of what Croatia has to offer! There's lots of new vlog content and travel videos to share from Croatia so stay tuned for more!
For now, enjoy another travel day bus vlog and we'll be back in a few days with more :)

Split to Dubrovnik Ferry I Our experience I Things to Consider I Ep3
We had a very chaotic experience while boarding our Split to Dubrovnik ferry. But once boarded, the journey was super comfortable and smooth. This video is about our overall experience in the Split to Dubrovnik ferry plus exploring President beach in Dubrovnik.
When we reached Split harbour early morning, there were 3 Kapitan Luka ferries lined up and even after asking multiple guys in these ferries, no one made it clear which one we needed to board.
After running around for about half an hour between 3 boats with 4 kids in tow, we finally boarded the one that we lined up for when we first arrived. I actually thought we were going to miss our ferry.
But once inside, the ambiance was very good. The journey was super smooth. The kids had a long nap. Even my wife who gets seasick most of the time was comfortable during this trip.
After we reached Dubrovnik and checked into our hotel, I did a quick tour of the nearby President beach, which is a super cute beach that no one should miss while in Dubrovnik.

Never Do This In Croatia ???????? 5 Things You DON'T DO In Hrvatska
In today's Croatia travel vlog, I discuss this topic: Never Do This In Croatia / Don't Do This in Hrvatska. Hrvatska is another name for Croatia in case you're wondering.
This is not a Croatia travel guide but a list of things not to do in Croatia. Most of the footage in this video is from Split Croatia, the island of Hvar and Dubrovnik Croatia. However, I spent most of my time in Split Croatia. I did have a couple Croatians help me come up with this list!
Croatia is one of the best places to visit in my opinion. You have beaches, cities, mountains, and lots of castles and old world charm. When you visit Croatia there are certain things that you probably shouldn't do. I got some input from my Croatia friends to make this list.
Never leave trash on the beach. Croatia is a beautiful country with amazing beaches. Croatians have done a really good job keeping their beaches very clean compared to many other places. There are public trash cans every where and they are are picked up regularly. There is no excuse for littering, when there is always a trashcan within walking distance at Croatian beaches.
Never talk about politics. There are lots of sensitive topics around the war with Serbia and the break up of Yugoslavia. Most families were impacted by the war in some way, so these are very personal subjects. It’s better not to get into these discussions.
Never forget to tip. I was so accustomed to not tipping in Asia that I didn’t tip at the first Croatian place I ate. I later learned that 10% is customary and you can bump that up to 15% for exceptional service. This is a great travel tip Croatia!
In most cases, never take the train in Croatia. Take the bus instead. Unlike a lot of Europe, Croatia’s train system isn’t the best. They don’t run very often. For instance there are only two train times to go from Zagreb to Split (or Dubrovnik Croatia). And they take a long time. The train ride from Zagreb to Split takes almost 6 hours when you can just drive it in 4 of even better take a 45 min flight that’ll only cost around $50 US dollars. But don’t fret - the busses are great!
Never call Croatia Yugoslavia or the former Yugoslavia. Similar to discussing politics, this is a sensitive subject. This would be like calling the US, the former England. Yes, we were a part of England before, but we are not the former England. Same thing. Croatia is Croatia….Yugoslavia was another country that doesn’t exist any longer.
I filmed this Croatia travel vlog sitting on the beautiful Adriatic Sea watching the sunrise.
Croatia full of magic, so travel Croatia and like this video!

Sailing Croatia 2018 Beneteau 38.1 - Kornati, Dalmatian Coast, Adriatic
We spent a fabulous ten days aboard a Beneteau Oceanis 38.1 on the Dalmation Coast of Croatia. We picked up the boat from Euronautic yacht charter in Biograd and followed a route looping south to the inland lake and the town of Skradin, then headed for the Kornati islands and further up towards Telascica.
We had a fantastic time exploring the incredible clear blue sea, good weather (apart from some epic showers) and lovely, open, unspoilt islands with plenty of anchorages and not too many boats about. Perfect for relaxing and absorbing the natural environment.
I would recommend September because it is still warm and it is just after the busy tourist season so offers more possibilities if you're looking for a quiet anchorage. Definitely worth a visit on a self-charter yacht.
Huge thanks to our great buddies Rob and Diana, for sharing their years of sailing experience with us newbies.

Head south to diminutive coastal Montenegro on this day trip from Dubrovnik. Take a scenic drive on the southern Dalmatian Coast and experience small Adriatic villages and towns, including the UNESCO-listed Kotor, situated in Europe’s southernmost fjord. Admire Sveti Stefan, a medieval island turned luxury hotel, and spend some time in Budva, a walled medieval town on the sea, like a mini Dubrovnik. Finish with a ferry ride back to Dubrovnik. Get picked up at your hotel in Dubrovnik and then hop inside the air-conditioned vehicle to make the drive south to Montenegro. Drink in the views of the Adriatic Sea and the Dubrovnik Riviera and learn about the history and culture of the area from your local guide. After crossing the border to Montenegro, twist and turn with the road, going around the large Bay of Kotor, and passing through charming villages along the way. Then stop in Perast, a lovely town at the base of St Elijah Hill. Consider taking the optional boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks island to check out the baroque-era church (at own expense). The next stop is Kotor, situated in a fjord and one of the most eye-pleasing Montenegrin towns. Once there, begin a walking tour that goes throughout the squares and narrow cobbled streets, taking you to historic churches such as the Cathedral of St Tryphon. Then take some free time to do some wandering — consider marching up the 1,350 steep steps to the San Giovanni Castle for an incredible view and photo opportunity — or sit down for a drink or a snack (at own expense). After Kotor, drive down the coast further until you reach Sveti Stefan (St Stephen). Once a medieval fishing village with a small inlet connecting it to the mainland, Sveti Stefani is now a luxury hotel. After gawking at the island-turned-resort, head to Budva, a 15-minute drive north of Sveti Stefan. This gorgeous walled city on the sea boasts attractive beaches and narrow cobbled streets. Take some free time to explore or sit down for a meal (at own expense). Take a ferry ride across the Bay of Kotor and then enjoy a final scenic drive along the coastal roads of Montenegro to end your day. You’ll be returned to your Dubrovnik hotel.

Things to do in Brač, Croatia! If you are wondering how to travel Brač, look no further as I have made a travel guide ⇩⇩Click ‘show more’⇩⇩
Brač is the 3rd largest island in the Adriatic Sea, and despite being so near to Split the island isn’t as touristy as it’s neighbouring islands Hvar and Korcula.
From divine beaches, historical architecture all the way to the incredible nature with olive fields and vineyards, you won’t want to miss a chance to explore this island.
On my day trip to Brač, I caught the ferry from Split, using Jadrolinja ferry services.
I used the local bus service (Arriva) from Supetar - Bol. This is a one-hour bus ride.

Croatia - Best Places to visit - Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Trogir, Hvar, Krk, Murter, Omis, Zagreb
In this video we would like to tell you a little about the best places to visit in Croatia as well as provide some tips on languages, currency, driving, parking, camping and shopping.
Croatia is a stunningly beautiful country to visit, particularly along the Adriatic coastline.
Some of the best places to visit in Croatia include Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Trogir, Hvar, Krk, Seline, Murter, Omis, Zagreb and the beautiful Plitvice National Park.
There are still at least 30 different languages in the EU and Croatian is the main language spoken in Croatia.
Most younger people in larger towns and cities across Europe speak English as their second language, however in the rural areas sometimes not a lot of English is spoken, particularly by older people.
There are around 13 different currencies in the EU and the Kuna is the Croatian currency.
Croatia borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast.
Croatia has an area of 56,000 square kilometres (21,000 square miles) and a population of 4.5 million and has around 1244 islands off the Adriatic coastline – the capital city is Zagreb.
Vignettes are not required for driving on the Croatian road networks however there are toll roads.
Tourism is one of the main service industry sectors and accounts for up to 20% of Croatian GDP.
Credit cards are accepted widely in Croatia, however, some vendors only accept Visa but not Mastercard, or vice versa, so the suggestion would be to get a set of Visa and a set of Mastercard credit cards for each person in your group/family.
It is always advisable to have some local country cash on hand for emergencies or when communication lines are down and therefore you can’t use credit cards.
Cash is certainly preferred by Vendors over credit cards.
Be careful and only use reputable Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs).
There are different rules regarding “parking” and “camping” – many countries allow “overnight parking” as long as you don't camp there – the definition of “camping” is if you set up anything outside of your vehicle eg tables and chairs, and or BBQ, and or put up your sun awning and or position your vehicle on levelling ramps etc – then that is classified as camping.
Wild camping is illegal in Croatia and is policed very strongly and you may be asked to provide evidence of where you have stayed in a camp ground or similar on previous nights in Croatia – so keep your receipts.
Because wild camping is illegal many private home owners and restaurants have at the front of the property offering off street parking or camping for a fee.
The budget touring days in Croatia have gone – the price of staying in a camp ground can easily treble in the high season.
Even budget camping is way more expensive than staying in a Stellplatz in Germany or an Aire in France.
Aussie European Tour – Australians Rob and Krys Henshaw tour 28 European countries, travelling around 60,000 km in their LHD Hymer 544 during 2017 and 2018.
To access the blog notes including tips on language, currencies, driving, parking, camping and shopping with videos and photos for every overnight stop on the entire tour through 28 European countries covering in excess of 60,000 km please log on to the website at
Overnight stops included Wild Camping, Aires and Stellplatz and occasionally in camp grounds.

Diocletian's Palace, Split, Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia, Europe
Diocletian's Palace is a building in Split, Croatia, that was built by the Roman emperor Diocletian at the turn of the fourth century AD. Diocletian built the massive palace in preparation for his retirement on 1 May 305 AD. It lies in a bay on the south side of a short peninsula running out from the Dalmatian coast, four miles from Salona, the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. The terrain slopes gently seaward and is typical karst, consisting of low limestone ridges running east to west with marl in the clefts between them. After the Romans abandoned the site, the Palace remained empty for several centuries. In the 7th century nearby residents fled to the walled palace to escape invading barbarians. Since then the palace has been occupied, with residents making their homes and businesses within the palace basement and directly in its walls. Today many restaurants and shops, and some homes, can still be found within the walls. After the Middle Ages the palace was virtually unknown in the West until the Scottish neo-classical architect Robert Adam had the ruins surveyed and, with the aid of French artist and antiquary Charles-Louis Clérisseau and several draughtsmen, published Ruins of the Palace of the Emperor Diocletian at Spalatro in Dalmatia (London, 1764). Diocletian's palace was an inspiration for Adam's new style of Neoclassical architecture and the publication of measured drawings brought it into the design vocabulary of European architecture for the first time. A few decades later, in 1782, the French painter Louis-François Cassas created drawings of the palace, published by Joseph Lavallée in 1802 in the chronicles of his voyages. This palace is today, with all the most important historical buildings, in the centre of the city of Split. Diocletian's Palace far transcends local importance because of its degree of preservation. The Palace is one of the most famous and complete architectural and cultural features on the Croatian Adriatic coast. As the world's most complete remains of a Roman palace, it holds an outstanding place in Mediterranean, European and world heritage. he ground plan of the palace is an irregular rectangle (approximately 160 meters x 190 meters) with towers projecting from the western, northern, and eastern facades. It combines qualities of a luxurious villa with those of a military camp, with its huge gates and watchtowers. The palace is enclosed by walls, and at times, it housed over 9000 people. Subterranean portions of the palace feature barrel vaulted stonework. Only the southern facade, which rose directly from, or very near to, the sea, was unfortified. The elaborate architectural composition of the arcaded gallery on its upper floor differs from the more severe treatment of the three shore facades. A monumental gate in the middle of each of these walls led to an enclosed courtyard. The southern sea gate (the Porta Aenea) was simpler in shape and dimensions than the other three, and it is thought that it was originally intended either as the emperor's private access to the sea, or as a service entrance for supplies. The design is derived from both villa and castrum types, and this duality is also evident in the arrangement of the interior. The transverse road (decumanus) linking the eastern gate (the Silver Gate or Porta argentea) and western gate (the Iron Gate or Porta ferrea) divided the complex into two halves. In the southern half were the more luxurious structures; that is, the emperor's apartments, both public and private, and religious buildings. The emperor's apartments formed a block along the sea front and were situated above a substructure because the sloping terrain demanded significant differences in level. Although for many centuries almost completely filled with refuse, most of the substructure is well preserved, and indicates the original shape and disposition of the rooms above. A monumental court, called the Peristyle, formed the northern access to the imperial apartments. It also gave access to Diocletian's mausoleum on the east (now Cathedral of St. Domnius), and to three temples on the west (two of which are now lost, the third having become a baptistery, originally being the temple of Jupiter). There is a temple just to the west of the Peristylum called The Temple of the Aesculapius, which has a semi cylindrical roof made out of hand carved stone blocks which did not leak until the 1940s, and was then covered with a lead roof. The temple was restored recently. The northern half of the palace, divided in two parts by the main north-south street (cardo) leading from the Golden Gate (Porta aurea) to the Peristyle, is less well preserved. It is usually supposed that each part was a residential complex, housing soldiers, servants, and possibly some other facilities. Both parts were apparently surrounded by streets. Leading to perimeter walls there were rectangular buildings, possibly storage magazines.

Day 1 – ARRIVAL DAY
On your arrival to Split airport, our friendly guides will meet you with a big smile. We’ll take a brief transfer into the heart of Dalmatia past Split towards our family activity holiday base. Tonight, we'll have an incredible Gala Meal. Let the fun begin!
Day 2 – Sea Kayaking the incredible Coastline
Paddling on gentle blue sea waters is a great way to experience the freedom of water, whilst meeting the other families, remembering many names and learning the correct paddling techniques. Once you grasp the basics, we’ll be playing pirate games, and testing your skills. Half way we’ll stop for beach relaxation, swimming and to soak in the peace & quiet.
Day 3 – Tubbing on River Rapids
Today you will get to experience our fantastic river tubbing trip down the majestic Cetina River. This will give you a unique opportunity to explore this spectacular region as you splash your way along the river rapids. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to cool down by jumping in the river, and play underneath mini rapid waterfalls.
Day 4 – Free day or ZIPLINING
Today you will have the opportunity to Zipline as an optional extra. Other options will be private boat trips and guided tours of Split.
Day 5 – WHITE WATER RAFTING & BEACH DAY
Today we will take you for an exhilarating journey white water rafting deep in the Cetina canyons! Bounded by steep cliff walls and green vegetation, you will discover the thrill of the rapids. Each raft holds 5-8 people and is accompanied by your own experienced captain. As always we will stop occasionally along our journey for swimming and water games. After rafting we continue our journey to the Pirate sea town of Omis. The afternoon will be spent on the beach or wandering the narrow cobbled streets shopping.
Day 6 - BEACH DAY
Relax around the hotel swimming pool, or visit the Unesco towns of Split or Trogir. Many more options can be booked locally with us, just ask. Not forgetting the sea & beaches is only a few minutes walk away.
Day 7 – CANYONING
Canyoning is going to be a sure fire highlight of your family activity holiday in Croatia! After a short hike to the wonderful gorge, you shall begin your family canyoning adventure. You will begin by descending down various naturally made rock water slides, jumping, sliding, splashing and lots of laughing. Big jumps can be avoided, so everyone will find their perfect comfort level.
