Why This Invasive Lizard Is Bad for Puerto Rico | National Geographic
Over the past few years, Puerto Rico has been dealing with an exploding iguana population. Originally brought to the island as pets, the lizards now outnumber people and are wreaking havoc on agriculture, infrastructure, and even air traffic, causing millions of dollars in damages. Since the reptiles have no natural predators in Puerto Rico to control the population, conservationists are seeking alternative ways of combating the problem.

Puerto Rico / Cave Adventure / Aventuras Tierra Adentro
An all day cave adventure tour in Puerto Rico by Aventuras Tierra Adentro up till now has been the coolest excursion I have taken on any vacation so far. they have all the gear the you need to accomplish multiple zip lines, rappel off a cliff, hike through a huge beautiful cave, cliff jump into darkness, and so much more. this was not for the faint of heart and a bit of a workout but every drop of sweat was rewarded with fun educational stops along the way. one of my first outings with my GoPro Hero 3 black edition and not having much experience or mounts if we go to Puerto Rico again I would totally do this again.

Puerto Rico - East to West and Everything in Between
Puerto Rico is a beautiful country with many great sights. We stayed at the El Conquistador, A Waldorf Astoria Resort in Fajardo for the first several nights. Enjoyed their private Isla Palomino, rode horses, swam with sea turtles and viewed their numerous coral reefs along its beaches. At night we kayaked to the Bioluminescent Bay only about 1/2 mile from the base of our Hotel, where the water glows blue at night. The local food is excellent and enjoyed Mofongo, Pinchos and their local rum DonQ for the first time. El Yunque National Forest was around 30 minutes from Fajardo and offers the only rain forest in the US. Traveling to the West coast (2.5 hr Drive ) we stopped at Cueva del Indio which has Petroglyphs and is the location where several Hollywood movies were filmed including: A Perfect Getaway, Pirates of the Caribbean , Lord of the Ring and several Discovery Documentaries about the caves history and bats and bees that have called it home for thousands of years. Then on the very west end we visited Crash Boat Beach with its colorful boats, clear water and excellent snorkeling. To finish off the trip we enjoyed Old San Juan visiting Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo de San Cristobol while staying La Concha - A Renaissance Resort in the Condado area of San Juan. We had a great time and September if their slower season which means no lines and beautiful beaches all to ourselves. Looking forward to our next trip their again and spending a whole day enjoying the beach adjacent to Cueva del Indio.
