Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with PADI, the dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.


Why PADI Open Water?
As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.

What do I need to start?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.
A PADI Jr Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 12 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.
What will I do?
Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives.

How long will it take?
PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

DIVING IN PATTAYA, THAILAND

Vlog Ep.59 - Week 49/52 - December - 2015
Come diving with us in Pattaya in this weeks vlog. Jade and I took a long weekend away from Bangkok to go under the sea, enjoy the boat life and eat twisted mac & cheese from Hard Rock Cafe.

As it was the king's birthday we got a long weekend and we wanted to make the most of it. We usually like to scuba dive in Phuket but this time around we didn't want to hop on a flight. Instead we grabbed a quick (and super cheap) bus ride to Pattaya, booked ourselves into a nice hotel room (those bed sheets must have had one of the highest thread counts ever), and swam with the fish.

Visibility on our dives wasn't great and the waves were super choppy, but we still had a fun time diving with our Christmas hats.

Oh, and guess who forgot to bring along the red filter for the GoPro and had to spend 10 hours colour correcting the diving footage for this vlog...? Yep, that would be me. Huge amount of respect to anyone who messes with colour correction, that stuff is hard for video!

Next it was off to the Hard Rock Cafe in Pattaya where we had one mission and one mission only: get the twisted mac & cheese. Seriously, that mac & cheese is so good!

Getting to Hard Rock Cafe wasn't easy though, especially when Jade somehow managed to break her shoe!

And that was about it! We then went to catch another bus back to Bangkok and we found some delicious pork buns at the terminal.

I hope you all had an awesome week? Still a few weeks left to make 2015 the best year yet!

The optimum dive sites in the Pattaya area are called the Far Islands. These islands are located about 20km from Pattaya and are looked after by the Royal Thai Navy, ensuring that only divers and snorkelers enjoy these waters. These islands boast white, sandy beaches and are perfect for the beginner or the experienced diver. Passengers and snorkelers can enjoy a lazy day out on the boat enjoying the sunshine. Mermaids Dive Center visits these sites every day.

The islands include Koh Rin with the Pinnacles of North and South Rock either side. Diving at Koh Man Wichai to experience the stunning coral wall with the resident marine life. There are about 20 dive sites in this area and Mermaids Dive Center gives you the opportunity to explore them all.

See the abundance of soft and hard corals, Batfish, Moray Eels, Jacks, Trevallys and Barracudas. These can be seen on most dive sites along with Blue Spotted Stingrays, Turtles, Puffer Fish and Moray Eels.

The HTMS Khram wreck was sunk by the Royal Thai Navy in 2003 as an artificial reef. Located at 30m, this wreck is perfect for penetration through the engine room. The shoals of fish will leave you breathless as well as the sheer multitude of hard and soft corals. HTMS Khut and Matapon joined the Khram to offer premium wreck diving in this area.

Located in Samae San, The Hardeep is a WW2 Thai Steamship wreck sunk at 28m. This cargo ship is 60m long and can be penetrated from bow to stern. The Hardeep offers the best wreck experience in the local area and is on Mermaids dive schedule every day.
