Adventure tour of enchanting Križna Jama (Cave) in Slovenia

Križna Jama (Cave) is a cave system in Slovenia in Lož valley. The place is around 30 kms from Postojna, a tourist area famous for the Postojna cave.

Unlike other show caves, Križna cave lacks light installations and needs to be explored by carrying one's own light. The experience is much more authentic than other show caves and involves exploring the trail to a point called Kalvarija on rubber boats by crossing 13 lakes of different sizes.

The cave contains number of different species of cave organisms a few of which we were able to see during our tour. The cave was inhabited by cave bears a long time ago, proof of which can be found in bones and teeth embedded in the caves. The complete skeleton of a cave bear which was excavated from Križna cave can be seen in the Karst Museum in Postojna.

On this episode, I stayed at Boris's family house(from the previous video) and we went all together with him and his friends to explore a cave somewhere in the countryside. It was so dark, scary and primitive that made me feel small and vulnerable Thank god the guys were very experienced and provided everything to be safe! IT was definitely one of the greatest experiences of my entire life.
In the end I present Boris, which is the most traveled and wisest person I've ever met. Check out how awesome he is ;)

Amazing Postojna Cave System - Slovenia

We had the incredible opportunity to go to the Postojna Cave system just an hour by bus or train from Ljubljana, the capital. The Postojna Cave system in slovenia stretches 24km through the limestone. It has been visited by several emperors and was actually blown up in WWII. While you can do the caves as a day tour, we decided to stay the night at the Hotel Jama which is a few meters from the ticket office and cave entrance. Newly remodeled, the hotel was both modern, reasonably priced, and kind of luxurious. The next day we took a guided tour of the cave system seeing the main cave and two additional caves. It was a fascinating tour of an incredible natural place with unique little salamanders that can live a hundred years and go up to ten years without eating. Even if you aren't into caves, this one is amazing. The caverns are huge and the infrastructure is thoroughly though out including an electric train ride into the main complex and back out again. In this video we highlight the rest of our time spent in glorious Slovenia. From camp Bohinj, the Julian Alps and the stunning capital city of Ljubljana. We really did fall in love with sLOVEnia and wished we had spent a few more days in the country while traveling across Europe. Predjama Castle Jousting Tournament / Postojna Cave Park 2004

Located less than 50 kilometres from Slovenia's capital Ljubljana the Postojna Cave with its magnificent halls, a myriad of cave formations and mysterious animals is 24 kilometres long. It is easily accessible by means of transport. It was carved by the Pivka River over millions of years and made up of four caves interconnected through the same underground river. However, according to speleology rules, the passages and siphons connecting the caves must be walked or swum through by man for them to be considered one whole. Connecting two of the main cave systems it makes this the longest cave system in Slovenia and one of the longest in all of Europe.
Only a few kilometres away, perched in the middle of a towering cliff, the Predjama Castle as an medieval marvel has been proudly withstanding the ravages of time for more than eight centuries. For those who visit the place the medieval times are being revived each year. The so-called Erasmus Knight Tournament is an interesting event where a small group of my colleagues and friends participated as stunts in action on horses. Back in 2004, instead of taking a part in that special public performance I was asked to film the adventure that here is only just beginning ...

HRVATSKI: Smještena manje od 50 kilometara od slovenske prijestolnice Ljubljane, Postojnska jama sa svojim veličanstvenim dvoranama, bezbroj špiljskih formacija i tajanstvenih životinja duga je 24 kilometra. Lako je dostupan prijevoznim sredstvima. Kroz rijeku Pivku isklesan je milijunima godina i sastavljen je od četiriju spilja međusobno povezanih istom podzemnom rijekom. Međutim, prema pravilima speleologije, hodnike i sifone koji spajaju pećine čovjek mora hodati ili plivati da bi ih se moglo smatrati jednom cjelinom. Spajajući dva glavna špiljska sustava, ovo je najduži špiljski sustav u Sloveniji i jedan od najdužih u cijeloj Europi.
Samo nekoliko kilometara dalje, usred uzvišene litice, Predjamski kaštel kao srednjovjekovno čudo ponosno se odupire zubu vremena već više od osam stoljeća. Za one koji posjećuju mjesto srednjovjekovna vremena oživljavaju se svake godine. Takozvani Erasmus viteški turnir zanimljiv je događaj u kojem je mala skupina mojih kolega i prijatelja sudjelovala u akciji na konjima. Godine 2004., umjesto da sudjelujem u tom posebnom javnom nastupu, morao sam snimiti avanturu koja ovdje tek počinje ...
