Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is one of the best hikes that exist in the world for its exquisite natural beauty and different ecological niches ranging from high desert to tropical Andean forest. During their empire, the Incas created a vast network of roads that crossed the Andes from Argentina to Colombia and from the coast to the Amazon rain forest. The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a branch which goes from the Andes to the jungle. The Inca Trail is not the only hike that ends at Machu Picchu There are amazing alternative treks like: Salkantay Trek, Lares Trek, Choquequirao Trek and Huchuy Qosqo. Once you are at Machu Picchu you can take the opportunity to hike Huaynapicchu Mountain which has amazing views of the ruins and lots of opportunity to take photos. Whichever path you take, you will have an amazing reward when you first see the Lost City of the Incas; Machu Picchu

Lares hike adventure/ Via Yanahuara Walk with a mystical touch
Kondor Group promotes responsible hiking, focusing on not leave any waste on routes; to limit physical and environmental impact; preserving this beautiful hike to future generations.
Lares hike is performed through stunning mountain scenery in a remote area of authentic homes of highlands (no cars or buildings); Andeans are well known for the high quality of bright fabrics made of Alpaca/Llama.
The Andes Mountains are spread throughout Peru (Inca’ Empire) the ancient people built trails, the impressive Machu Picchu provides a glimpse into the life of the Incas.
Lares trek boasts some of the highest peaks of Peru and the 99 % are tropical glaciers with permanent rivers, creeks, lakes of ice at high enough elevations not to be affected by the types of balmy temperatures usually associated with the tropics.
Lares hike advice
1. Daytime temperatures can be extremely hot or cold but at night (very cold); it can get quite chilly (below zero degrees).
2. Some Hikers can be affected by high altitude (Soroche) this is determined by your genetic makeup and has little to do with fitness or health. Most people will have no problems as long as they take the time to acclimatize properly; drink plenty water, Coca tea (usually enough for most people).
3. Bring four season warm sleeping bag.
4. Lares weather is very unpredictable: Good waterproof comfortable hiking shoes, Poncho or rain jacket, Trekking poles are essential.

#GettingfromCuscotoMachuPicchu
The easiest way to get to from Cusco to Machu Picchu is to take the train to Aguas Calientes (the town located a few miles from the site). It’s a scenic 3.5-hour trip each way along tracks that run right along the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley, with dramatic canyon walls on either side.
#MachuPicchuTours
The way to get from Cusco to Machu Picchu is to walk as part of a multi-day Machu Picchu tour. Thousands of people hike to Machu Picchu each year. Here’s how.
The most famous way to hike to Machu Picchu is along a section of one of the hundreds of Incan Trails built as the empire expanded. Dozens of tour operators offer Inca Trail hikes to Machu Picchu, with varying durations and levels of comfort (though all require camping). Note that the Inca Trail leading to Machu Picchu is closed for the entire month of February every year.
For those who would like a less crowded experience, or are looking to see and experience other aspects of Peru on their way to Machu Picchu, there are a number of diverse hiking alternatives: the second most popular way to hike to Machu Picchu is around massive Salkantay Mountain, one of the most imposing peaks in the Peruvian Andes at 20,569 feet. Many tour companies offer Salkantay Treks, but Kondor Path Tours Peru, an established and well-regarded Cusco tour company with a focus on sustainable and responsible tourism, offers the Express Salkantay Trek, which shaves a day off the normal itinerary for those who want to push their physical limits on their way to Machu Picchu.
Travelers interested in archaeology should consider the Choquequirao Tour with a Machu Picchu extension. This itinerary includes spectacular (but very tough) hiking in the steep Apurimac Canyon and exploration of the Choquequirao archaeological site before arriving at Aguas Calientes and then exploring Machu Picchu.
The Lares Trek Adventure of Peru offers a great combination of Andean hiking and cultural encounters within Andean - Quechua communities before arriving in Aguas Calientes to explore the ancient citadel.
#VinicuncaRainbowMountainTrek, also known as Montaña de Siete Colores or Rainbow Mountain, can be visited from Cusco, one of Peru’s most attractive tourist hubs, from where you can also visit Machu Picchu. The top of Rainbow Mountain sits at 5,100 m / 16,732 feet.
Cusco City Tour, Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco is now known for its archaeological richness and Spanish colonial architecture. Climb up to the Archeological Park of Sacsayhuaman and visit a fortress with the same name, a beautiful place that radiates peace and quiet. Admire the enormous rocks measuring up to 4 meters high that were used in its construction.
Next, head to Q'enqo and the ancient temple of the Puma, where you observe an altar in the inner part of a huge rock that was once used for sacrifices, and then Tambomachay, once believed to be sacred fountains of life and health. On the way, take in a panoramic view from Puca Pucara, a watchtower that controlled the entrance to the city.

Things to do in Cusco, Peru ???????? ATV tour of Maras Moray Salinas and self-guided hike downtown
There's no shortage of things to do in Cusco, so the Earth Unraveled team had some differing opinions on how to spend their final day in Cusco, Peru.
The great folks at Loki Travel were able to organize a last minute private tour for Mike & Mikey to see the Urubamba country side outside of Maras, Peru on a quad bike tour through. We also took the opportunity to skip a lot of the individual site walk-throughs and spend a lot more cruising the epic landscapes at full-speed on the ATVs.

0:32 - Church of Tiobamba
0:54 - Maras statue
1:44 - so this is what an Inca fridge looked like
Episode 47
0:32 - The old Spanish church of Tiobamba was our first stop. This seemingly abandoned church seems very out of place in the vast open landscape and is easily spotted from miles away.
0:54 - Maras salt mines (Salinas des Maras) are a series of steam ponds which have been in use by locals to collect and sell salt since the Inca times. Since we had such a small group, we opted to take a few of the less conventional trails. Much more narrow than the regular paths these typically reserved for hikers and donkeys.
1:18 - The small town of Maras, where we stopped for a local brunch, ironically contained a statue displaying all of our destinations for the day.
1:44 - This ancient structure helped the ancient inca people preserve their foods such as corn and potatoes grown in Moray by keeping them cool and dry in these refrigerators made of clay and running cool running over the top.
2:01 - Back in Cusco: Fil, Peter, Kevin and Robbie organized their own day-tour with a self-guided walk through the streets, starting in the historic section of Cusco (plaza des Armas) but ultimately venturing way off the beaten path to see the real lives of these modern-day Inca people of Peru

PERU: Most BEAUTIFUL and PRIVATE Inca Trail Above the SACRED VALLEY ????| Peru 2019 Vlog
Peru Ep. 6 Part 1 ( con subtitulos)
We ventured on one of the most beautiful, and what seemed very PRIVATE Inca Trails. Not a tourist in site. Seriously, not a TOURIST in sight.
Join us, Tanya and Dave, in exploring one of the most beautiful and private Inca Trails above the Sacred Valley. We go from Patabamba to Huchuy Cusco, meeting a few new friends along the way, oh and Dave get's to you how he uses the Inca hunting tool. You might want to make sure you're wearing a helmet for that one.
Why did we do this? Well for one we love to explore the way the locals do, but also it's kind of the only way to get to the local family's house that we will be staying with. Yes, we'll be living like a local and we're so EXCITED.
