Kristínartindar, Skaftafell, Iceland - White Night Hiking
Scenery: ★★★★★
Difficulty: ★★★★
To take advantage of white night, I started hiking at midnight and finished 8am in the morning while my family sleeping. I slept only 2 hours that day but wasn't tired somehow.
The trailhead is at the Skaftafell national park visitor center.
All the trails in Iceland are well marked with wooden sticks and easy to follow. You will see some wooden sticks in the video including at the summit.
It was 20 Km (12.5 miles) with 1142 m (3750 ft) elevation gain.
The trail map is here. It's S3 + S4.
S4 is more awesome than S3 but not recommended for the faint of heart.
My Iceland #8: Jökulsárlón - Skaftafell
Part 8 of the My Iceland project.
An amazing day of driving and hiking. First the blue-hued and moody fantasy landscapes of the Jökulsárlón and Fjallasárlón glacial lagoons. Then, after the rain had stopped, a strapping 18km hike around the incredibly beautiful Skaftafell national park.

Vatnajokull Glacier Hike with Troll Expeditions
This video shares our 3 hour Glacier Hiking Experience with Troll Expeditions. We booked the tour one day before via Klook. 11AM and 1:00PM slots are quite popular and need to pay extra than the other slots. We reported our arrival at the meeting point around 10:30am, 30 min before the departure.
Vatnajokull glacier is the largest glacier in Europe covering 8% of Iceland’s landmass. The one we are hiking is Falljokull, meaning “Falling Glacier', is one of the smaller outlet glaciers from the Vatnajokull icecap.
We spent about 1.5 hour on glacier, our group had elderly in their 50s and did not go up to the higher level.
We visited in September so natural ice caves tour are not available. Since we came from a tropical country, this glacier walk was one of our must do activities in Iceland. I feel grateful for the weather on the day. The trip is not that difficult, but walking with the heavy boots and crampons is. I chose my shoe with my usual size but it got tighter at the toes during the descend. May be wearing one size bigger would be better. Some vessels under the big toenail must have burst. I started to notice it turned to black gradually after the trip.

Ice Climbing an Iceberg in Iceland
Adventurer George Kourounis tries his hand at Ice climbing on an iceberg in a glacial lagoon in Iceland. This is dangerous because icebergs can flip without warning. The morning after this was filmed, we noticed that the iceberg had flipped over at some point overnight.

Iceland trip : Troll Tröllaskagi Peninsula & Hraunsvatn hike
Support our channel :
One of most hidden Icelandic gems is Tröllaskagi peninsula, a truly astonishing and fascinating kingdom a bit separated from the rest of the country because of the high and dense mountains which cover it all. The highest point is mount Kerling, Kerlingarfjöll, with its 1538mt, and two fjords flank the peninsula. Skagafjörður on the West is the gateway to northwestern Iceland while Eyjafjörður on the East gets the name from the presence of an island in it: Hrísey, a pleasant green and flat island accessible several times a day by ferry from Dalvík or from the small village of Árskógssandur.
Hraunsvatn hike: The map marks a circuit from Hraun farm to the lake (Hraunsvatn) and beneath Hraundrangi. After a while a faint path appears. Soon enough the lake comes into view. The outflowing river does something very odd: it just disappears into a pile of boulders, and the gully below is bone dry!
The lake is a stunning blue set against the green of the mountains behind.
